HORSE AUCTION in the WEST! Cedar Livestock Market- June 6 2024

Join me as I observe the June 6 2024 Cedar Livestock Market Horse Sale
I won't be bidding, however tempting it may be! I'm only here to observe and show you all what this auction is like.
Located in Cedar City Utah, the Cedar Livestock Market Horse Sale is the only horse auction in Utah held monthly, and is one of only 2 or 3 horse auctions held throughout the state of Utah.
This horse auction is scheduled for the first Thursday of each month.
Here in Utah, the majority of horses are sold through KSL's classified ads, through private sale, or via word of mouth.
Support farmers and ranchers. Without them, we wouldn't be alive.
Thank you Shae at @freespiritequestrian for the content spark! You're an inspiration!

it was good to see how gentle and caring the chap was that was handling the animals in the ring,, most of the time in auctions they don't care and are rough well-done Mr

Kill buyers stay in the East, but you never really know who's bidding. I think the majority went to new homes.

@@franoshea4843 This is true, however the horses are generally held pre-auction for no more than 2 hours, then they are pushed to the back holding pens or loaded into trailers. New owners immediately go out to give them water after they bid. The cattle are held further back from where I was filming and have large troughs for water.

What state is this. All the horses under $700 are definitely bought by kill buyers. Cannot believe one horse went for $25. Are these Amish. I don't see anything that doesn't wrench my stomach.

I hate the abuse of these beautiful wild and free horses. Look at the horse they broke leg of. These sales must be outlawed.

@@Sarita-ci9wc These are not wild animals, these are domestic horses. The horse's leg was not broken. He may have been lame, but it was NOT the fault of the auction. People bring these horses (sick, injured, malnourished, old) to the auction to get rid of them quickly, and the majority of people purchasing them are ready to take care of them and help them heal. Again, the state of the animal is NOT the fault of the auction. They are simply facilitating a sale.

@@joeyallen8876 It's unfortunate that people put them through this stress, yes, but the auction itself doesn't choose the animals it consigns. This is a rather gentle/smaller auction compared to some, and every horse that goes through finds a home vs going to slaughter. I wish it were done a bit differently, but for now this is a pretty decent option comparatively.
