Thanks for the share. I've got even more horror stories mainly because I had been searching for my wife's bike for close to a year and then my thruxton since about 2019. End result we both got the bikes we wanted however it took literally going through dozens of poor dealers to find the decent one. That said when I finally found a dealer to sell me a thruxton for the price I was ok with I went to pick it up and went to drive it and the battery was dead because they didn't tender it. I had to wait an extra hour for the battery to be tendered before I could ride off. Talk about a tainted experience. However the positive I will say about the dealer is that I bought two bikes from them so they're the one dealer in SoCal who will atleast negotiate close to msrp out the door.

Great video as ever. I have to comment on the main dealer issues though. Yes, I totally agree that there are a lot of main dealers out there and indeed secondhand dealers who are nothing more than sharks out for your money with no customer care whatsoever. However I must say that my main dealer here in North Wales is superb, can't really fault them . I've had several bikes from them over the years and I've never had an issue. In fact when I once bought a used Africa Twin from them I turned up on the day to collect it and they had fitted two brand new tyres to it despite it passing it's MOT on the original ones because they thought the tyres where a 'bit thin and would need replacing fairly soon'. They were proper tyres too, not cheapos! I've also in the past had minor issues sometimes with used bikes bought from them (sometimes faults do develop that could not be detected before) and they have immediately sorted them out, under garage warranty without any fuss. So I guess I'm lucky :)

Just customised my Bonnie T100 this evening! Fitted a glass 7 inch headlamp reflector in place of the origianl plastic one that had developed a cloudy haze, it's11 years old. I don't know if I was lucky, but the fit was perfect without modifying the original mount or bowl.

Matt Williamson of Bretherton, Leyland, Lancashire is were i bought my GoldStar. He was a BSA dealership but they didn't live up to their promises so he stopped selling BSA's on the 1st of January. He will still service those he sold but won't sell anymore BSA's. He sells and services a whole host of second hand bikes and being independent his reputation is his mantra, a very nice guy and an exceptional dealer.

Got mine from him. New one in Leyland. Think bike gear. Also millenium in St Helens also new bsa dealer. Mine going on sat for ecu update as it has the cut out issue which happens on some.

You did a great job on dying the seat, it looks great. I would say keep one of each color because the dark brown original seat like great in contrast as well. And I have dealt with multiple dealers over the years and it seems to always be the same story as what you've mentioned. One story is that I bought a used Harley Crossbones from a local-ish dealer and it turned out the brake light would stay suck on due to an issue with the front lever and I had to replace the battery very soon afterwards as well. More issues started popping up and I lost faith in the bike myself. I felt like I had a lemon, but it was an older bike so I don't think bad about it too much. However, I just bought a brand new Triumph Bobber(I was having a very hard time choosing between it and the black T 120 like yours since I don't get to make purchases like this often) and I'm absolutly loving it. The dealership was pretty cool and they did contact me after the sell along with a thank you card. More than anyone else has ever done, so maybe there is some hope out there.

Hi Willie, loving that black seat - that's what I would have done with it. Nice you now have both options. Okay, my good dealer story: being a Norfolk boy, most of the main dealers I frequent are in Norwich and to be fair they are all pretty good but for me, one that really stands out is Tinklers. They are a Yamaha dealer and I bought my XSR700 from them. From the outset and all through my ownership they were genuinely friendly and helpful, making sure I was completely happy in every matter that arose. But what really set them apart is that even after I sold the bike and went down the Royal Enfield Classic 350 route, they would still welcome me in, come out to admire my new (non Yamaha) bike and take a genuine interest in all things motorcycling, all while plying me with free tea and coffee. I know they're a business and they're all about selling bikes but they've got it absolutely right in how they treat people and that makes the difference between whether I'll be a returning customer or not. With Tinklers I definitely will return! (I just wish they did other brands besides Yamaha...but you can't have everything!)

Hi Willie, actually I have always had awesome service at Holeshot Motorcycles in Auckland NZ. Eg; all my legit Triumph accessories came late and they felt as though they were mucking me around, so I got them all for cost price and the labour rate was half only. I kid you not. So I’m really glad a channel like yours is trying to highlight and accentuate the positive. Too much negativity in this world for me. Cheers.

I have 2 dealerships that are fantastic. One sells RE and one sells Moto Guzzi. The RE dealer is 3 hours away but worth the trip. Both people called me over the winter when I was seriously ill and that means a lot. But if I go to a new to me dealer I approach it with caution, just me.

I’ll tell you an uplifting story about my local BMW/Triumph dealer…sorry, I’ll I have is nightmares. If you want to hear the horror story about my $1,500 2007 RE Bullet 500 w/sidecar let me know. I put in the shop for a carb clean and new tires all around. Over a year later it was 2 sprag clutches, total re-wired and $11,000. In the end I rode it around the block and sold it. 👍👍👍 It’s a doozy.

All I can say is that I have a Triumph Bonneville purchased from Suffolk Triumph Ipswich it is 5 years old, they have serviced it from new and completed all the MOT’s, repairs and new tyres they have been absolutely fantastic, all the staff brilliant cannot praise them enough, especially Jake the manager.

Haywards of Cambridge, Royal Enfield dealers. Absolutely fantastic people. Had several demo's. And my son brought a new himalayan 450 from them. Bonus they have some vintage motorcycles there.

I’m off to Spain and Portugal next month. Always take a spare key, just in case. Checked my spare, turned ignition on but not coded to immobiliser. Took it into Blade Triumph Stratford upon Avon, bit of a small job for them, but treated extremely well.

Pro-Line Motorsports is my Indian dealer. They’ve been reliable and cooperative. Had a service booked for this morning, but a couple miles from home, sleet forced me to turn back. Couldn’t see, face stinging. May in Saskatchewan. Pro-Line was understanding about my cancellation and happily re-booked me for ten days hence. Not all local dealerships would behave with such decency.

I am old, basically. Two dealers, Royal Enfield and Honda. They TOLD me to try the bikes I was looking at (SM 650 and Transalp). I live in France...(not known to be particularly feminist). I can't believe that in the UK, a lady biker could be confronted with so much 19thC rubbish. Sorry, not much help for your request, but I totally adhere to your "cause".

I like the original look of that R80, I think during the late 80's through the 90's bikes really looked good. But what it's been turned into is really something else. That paint job on the tank is just stunning. I'm not even a fan of this chopped up naked look, but that's a nice bike. I wonder though if a longer exhaust/straight pipe might balance out the look a little better? Anyway, congratulations on getting your seat and saddlebags to match 😂

I had the rear axle on my Aprilia 300 scooter come out at high speed on the M1. These should have had a nyloc nut fitted when assembled at the dealer, which was obviously never installed. Handling became 'very interesting', but could have quite easily have been fatal. The dealer is no longer trading, perhaps I was not the only customer who was less than satisfied.

That BMW R80 is a beautiful customization, well done , what a great job. I generally service the Fatboy, 3 oils to change, & check all the critical fasteners etc. Seeing as you like your Triumph & Royal Enfield , as they are twin cylinder so easy to service, on a Royal Enfield they recommend checking & adjusting the valves every 3k, its a piece of piss Will, especially if you get the proper workshop manual, a set of feeler gauges & make sure it's at Top Dead Centre ( there is alignment marks inside when you take the valve cover off) change oil etc, brake pads are easy to do too, & with KZread myriads of videos. You get so much satisfaction fettling your own machine-- have a go Will, or maybe a few courses 👍👍👍

It sounds like AJ's wife would have a sizable civil rights suit against that dealer. Yes, it's incredible how dealerships have little respect for their customers. I really try to go out of my way to establish a relationship with my local dealer and I try to treat them with respect. I wish it were always a two way street. Good idea having both colors for the T120's seats. Andy, that is a great customization on your BMW!

Women can't test ride - maybe it's a restriction placed by their insurers. I can't get a loan bike when I am having a service because of my age, 76, Which is over their insurers age limit. I have to sit in the dealers all day and wait for it. I dare say I will not be allowed to take a bike on a test ride. As for the BMW. is that what they call customised? Not my word for a bike that has been made impractical. Pretty ? Yes, but as daft as a teenager.

Seat looks awesome Willie. My Triumph Main dealer in Palmerston North has been pretty good. In NZ 🇳🇿 if you're no good word gets around quickly being a small Country & low population so most Main Dealerships are alright.

I was in a main Triumph Dealership yesterday, booked my bike in for a valve clearances check, and a look around the showroom, what a missarable bunch of twats, I felt about as welcome as a fart in a space suit, I reckon I could of walked around until closing time before anyone spoke to me, then it would be to ask me to leave. Unbelievable way to behave, obviously they are only employed buy a bigger concern, we need smaller independent Dealerships where you are Dealing with the owners of the Business.
