I thought it was as subtle as Westerners can handle. Was also pushing the "ßex assault" theme & the "men are too proud to say it outright," which was the part that seemed a little woman-centric, & the role-switching was annoying. But since most Westerners like you love insulting things, acting ungrateful, or being anti-men, then it wasn't pushing the message hard enough. Should have actually been pushing it, especially the "women like nagging & victim-blaming men for almost anything" part. But the "bla bla bla pregnant & assault" thing was annoying, & the femininity thing all the men did was unnatural & too fake. If it was made outside the US, maybe it would have been perfect, not so "heavy-handed." The part where the roles switch & pregnancy, & "hosting" is treated like evil, babies like parasites, was annoying. Maybe it was written by a feminist & that's why it lacked quality.

@@abrb1989 You’re partly right. There are victims of sexual abuse from either sex, male or female. They are all equally victims of this kind of abuse, regardless of their sex. However, is it not telling that the vast majority of victims of sexual abuse are women? Most men do not have to carry around that sense of paranoia and apprehension because the fact of the matter is that men are far less likely statistically to become victims of sexual abuse. Even still, this is missing the point of the original comment. Men can’t become pregnant. Men don’t have to worry about needing to get an abortion or carrying to term something that was forced into them. That’s the point being made here. Men could never fully understand it, because men could never experience it. Edit: But your point that people who don’t understand on both sides of the aisle still stands. And I agree entirely.

I felt so bad for that poor man; that was an assault, a kind of rape. And this is exactly how many perpetrators behave. Attack, then act as if they have done nothing wrong as their victim attempts to get themselves together trying to process WHAT has just happened to them. ...and omg, when he put that knife in his back to try to get that thing out I almost stopped the vid. Not to mention when the wife rushed in and did what she did. This was really good but I don't want to ever imagine a world where this is happening, even to men with whom I have a love/hate relationship with. Lol. I feel like this short pays homage to more than a few horror movies of the past. The ending had an Invasion of The Bodysnatchers ending feel to it although 2 totally different things. I also get a little Rosemary's Baby where the husband's career took off after he was ok to have his wife attacked by the Devil and have his baby. (Although in this case the wife came around towards the end and realized that this situation was all wrong.) Anyway. Awesome horror/sci fi short; actors & story pulls you right in from the very beginning & some very good believable acting + special effects.

One last thing. Huge respect for all the actors in this. Each one played their role to the t. Be it victim, predator, sell out, manipulator, or caught in the cross hairs, or compliant...each one owned every single emotion and that is no easy feat. I did a play years it was dark. Different than this but it was a three person and the other actress...not the actor...he was the other one....told me to purge because she started to see crossover between character and person. I took her advice and the thing is these things stay with you. So to be able to perform at this level and keep the integrity of the project intact that's just WOW. I need to take acting lessons from all of them but I can't. I can't do it. One hour of this acting and I would need to purge for a month...so again RESPECT. HUGE KUDOS. You actors are all lit! Or in some cases bang up...sorry couldn't help that pun. Just lit. Fantastic job!

The rape doesn't end with the attack, it continues when no one would listen and be as horrified as you, that the attack affects every part of your life. And can we talk about how real the "penis" looked. This is a work of art. Kudos to every actor. There wasn't one dud in the cast. Putting it on the man’s back instead of his stomach….. the symbolism is BRILLIANT. A baby, wanted or unplanned, is a GROWTH inside of a REAL PERSON. We’ve gotten so ‘used to’ seeing a pregnant belly, that so many people don’t see it fit what it MEDICALLY IS at the end of the day…. something FEEDING OFF THE HOST. Switching the genders and the placement was brilliant. I’m not even finished with it I’m still watching as I type this…. I’m so impressed.

  • @dinghysupreme2972

"feeding off the host" This implies the human fetus is a parasite, it isn't. A parasite is an organism that lives in or on another species, usually at the expense of the host. A human fetus is not a foreign organism of a different species, it is formed by your body which evolved to create it and literally possess part of your DNA. That is why people are "used to" seeing a pregnant belly, because that how the human body works, the only person who has a problem with it is you. Regardless of whether you're for or against abortion and the circumstances involved. Dehumanizing a human fetus by comparing it to a non human parasite, in this case a literal alien parasite, is not clever symbolism. Its a lazy disingenuous argument and is no better than comparing it to a face hugger injecting a human with xenomorph eggs. There are plenty of legitimate and reasonable arguments for abortion, so stop making absurd ones like this.

So no they are not classed as a parasite as they do not fit the required stipulation of being a different species to the host (foreign organism). Do not quote a definition that blatantly disproves what you're asserting while acting as if you know what you're talking about, unless you're trying to imply a human fetus isn't human, which would be absurd.

Genuinely brilliant, alien and yet absolutely a reflection on our society. I remember years ago asking a hyper-religious person I knew what would happen to the priest in her community who had sexually abused a member, and she said God would punish him, and no earthly authority had a say. Beyond how angry and horrified I was, I learned the true power of belief that day... Glad I'm an atheist!

Alter, this was awesome but I felt so bad for him - taken and raped against his will by his boss all because he wanted to do more and advance in the company. And his co-worker ended up with the promotion, even though he was also raped by the boss but refused to say anything. Even though it’s a work of fiction, it may mirror what some rape victims endured in real life.
