Horribly Neglected Overgrown Australian Native Garden | Complete Makeover

Ойын-сауық

Watch us transform this overgrown mess into a respectable garden. Most of the plants you see in this garden are Australian natives, but not all of them! The owner contacted me to clean up this neglected rental property and also to put some gum bark mulch down, ready for new tenants. This property is now on our regular schedule for a 6 monthly cleanup.
If you are wondering about the large area of ground cover we partially removed, it's called pigface, very prolific and will take over if you don't cut it back pretty hard. All up, we spent about 5 hours on this garden, and we took out about 1.5 trailer loads of green waste.
Workers on this job: George (long pants) & Brent (shorts).

FAQ's:
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in 4 years on the job.
Q: Where are you located?
A: We are from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘🦘🦘.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: We use mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs!
Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin!
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of cans?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I'm not really sure to be honest, maybe something to do with space & maintenance, but either way, it really is poor heat efficiency!
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee!
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!

There's a technique for cutting the grass plants were you can get one person to grab all the strands together and pull them up tight, you then just need to give it one cut with the shears and it trims the whole bush with one cut. I find it to be alot faster and it leaves a nice even finish.

These types of wild gardens are not bad, as long as two or more people in the family take care of it or they can have contracted the services of gardeners like you, for example, who regularly fix it. But if you get older or out of health and without so many resources, you better not have it 🙈 it's chaos 🤣.Good job!!.

Hi George, beautiful, beautiful job like always. You and Brent work very well together as a team. I know that home owner was pleased! Love watching Quick Cuts having my morning coffee on a fine Wednesday here on the Northern east coast of America. I’m an hour away from New York City. Enjoy your work week and your weekend.
