"Horrendous": Black Men Tortured By White Mississippi Police “Goon Squad” React to Guilty Pleas

Six white former police officers in Mississippi who called themselves the "Goon Squad" have pleaded guilty to raiding a home on false drug charges and torturing two Black men while yelling racist slurs at them, and then trying to cover it up. We speak with Michael Corey Jenkins and Eddie Terrell Parker about how, on January 24, six deputies in Braxton, Mississippi, raided the home they were staying in and attacked them, and how they are speaking out to demand justice. Meanwhile, the deputies have been linked to at least four violent attacks on Black men since 2019, in which two of the men died. We also speak with civil rights attorney Malik Shabazz, who is representing Jenkins and Parker in a federal lawsuit against the Rankin County Sheriff's Department. Shabazz asserts that the majority-white Rankin County, which is 20 miles away from majority-Black Jackson, Mississippi, is "infested with white supremacists" who "have decided 'Rankin County is for whites'" and seek to enforce it through state-sanctioned violence and torture, overseen and covered up by Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey. "We demand that Bryan Bailey step down," says Shabazz. Parker adds, "We want justice for everyone that has gone through this with Rankin County."

@@fromcarlawithlove it's obvious what they wanted but they never said go do this or that even tho they initiated the process. It wouldn't hold enough in court especially in Mississippi. I'm sure if they really wanted to they could some how find a way to put them in jail but they ain't going to put that much effort in locking them up.

I was 17 had two jobs about to graduate high school one sunday while a passenger in front seat of thae car of the person who picked me up from work two houses from home car gets pulled over im asleep woken up by driver my buddy who came to pick me up and I see a police officer at the window on my side tellung me get out and give him my Id as I ask the problem officer struck me with 4 cell maglight/ club in between my legs and down I went with no idea it would end up me a convicted felon Charged and convicted of battery on a law enforcement officer... rui ed my whole life.. that night I was brutally beaten beyond recognition. My own mom didnt recognise me at arraignment the next morning in court. Police claim I was doing a drug deal. I never even seen drugs before. They took me under the fuller warren bridge that night and beat me so bad and were putting shackles to throw me in the st johns river until an officer that knew my family stopped them and said youre not killing pennys son. Hes not a criminal. Youve nearly killed him take his ass on to jail. So they did. As entering booking they continued to beat me threw me in a dark cell with no clothes on and I passed out from the beating when I was woken up by the lights and they were surrounding me all with shields and clubs then began playing bull in the ring with beating me more. I prayed to die. I was then taken to court and its when my mother walked by and I couldnt even hold my self up to reach out to her . I only knew she was there because I heard her distinctive sm I kers cough as she walked past. But she looked right at me and didnt know me. I was covered head to toe in blood all over my churches chicken uniform. Judge and all officers there laughing mom said she was my mom and they told her It would be the last time I ever thought of fighting police. Internal affairs said there was no case. They all lied and I went to prison branded. My whole life has been deeply impacted by this . Always looked at like a crim9nal with a bad rap. I worked to help my mpm raise the kids as the second eldest of eight children. Two jobs, roofing in the day and churches chicken at night seven days a week. Didnt do drugs. Took military entrance exam just priorto all this and was already signed up to go to coast guard basic several weeks before all that.there went that. I tried to tell about it but they wouldnt listen and I just gave up and went on to marry and carry itinto my life. I worked and drowned it all in alcohol got into so much problems with anger from it and never really had sense enough to try and fight them. Hell, they beat all the good sense outta me that night. Teeth knocked out and head so banged up from billy clubs that night I havent been right ever since. I should have died..

I feel your story, and I can relate just like many who have been wronged by the police. I feel like most people fail to understand that these police pick and choose who's lives they ruin and that those who know about it and are silent are just glad that it doesn't happen to them. The lasting damage, hurt, and pain that these police can cause at any point in time can clearly derail a persons life, taring their families apart and ruining futures, the whole while with a smerk on their face. But that is only where the problem begins because after the police play their dirty part, the justice system encourages their bad behavior by rewarding them for the revenue that they create from each arrest and conviction but then again some of them do it out of the hatred that they feel towards certain groups of people and because of the bond that they feel for their own group. I pray that we live to see the day that things change. I pray that the ones that have been harmed by the misconduct of the police and this system are not swept under the rug and forgotten as if we were never treated horribly. Thank you for sharing your story. Please continue to share your story with the world. You are still here for a reason, and you are not alone. We are all listening, and we hear you and wish you love, strength, courage, and clarity while you work to repair and replace everything that they have broken and stolen from you.

That would probably make all but a handful of departments in the United States under investigation. It's good that these stories are finally coming out instead of being swept under the rug like they have been for so so so long, I'm aghast at how one of the complaints against the superior officer is that he failed to train the police who did this adequately. Not being corrupt assaulting people framing people and killing people shouldn't need to be part of somebody's training and if they need to be told that they have no business being a police officer, just so they can commit crime and be immune from it. Seriously, how do they have the audacity to say that, he wasn't properly trained and that it's inappropriate to kidnap people hold guns in their mouth and shoot them, again if they need that much guidance they are beyond redemption. The sad fact of it is in many of these jurisdictions, there are really generally only a few good apples and I'm not saying that the majority of them are committing crimes at this level, but not calling out their colleagues or their superiors perpetuates the obvious problems

Then, after the 13th amendment, Jim Crow laws and other oppressive and hateful laws and state-sponsored terrorism continued to the 1960's & 1970's. This ideology is still deeply rooted in the "Heritage" , "culture" and "Way-ofLife" often spoken of concerning "Southern Heritage". The evil was in the seed of the tree of wickedness that continues to bears wicked fruit. The next question would be...why would they have a mentality that it was going to be so easy to get away with this? THAT!, I suspect, will lead us down a rabbit hole of terror. Such evil saddens my heart.

I'm glad Benjamin Crump isn't on this case, because settling is exactly what would've happened. This does need to go to trial for all the legitimate reasons you cited, because settling is why they continue to get away with it, because you don't have to admit guilt if you settle. They know this game well. We haven't had any civil rights attorneys take things to the distance since the civil rights era of the 60s. And let me just say from personal experience, the corruption in the federal court system can be just as bad. This entire Justice system from top-to-bottom, is nothing but a shot show. The same police department who arrested this cop, are the same ones who have the green light on all of their escapades. These are walking demons, descendants of the their confederate ancestors.

What I try and point out often, is that Racism is a tool used against ALL of the working class, to divide us. Racism as they say, is taught, you're not born with it. That doesn't help the victims of racism while they're experiencing it of course but it is a way out of that which divides us. I know a guy who thinks of himself as very smart but he's not and he is a racist. He persisted in texting me that sort of message. Many, many times I pointed out how he is a cuckold for those that are the REAL cause of his unhappiness but he has ignored me. Now I ignore him.

THIS IS A VERY SAD AND AWFUL ISSUE FOR THE WIFE'S AND CHILDREN OF THESE 6 OFFICERS. I PRAY THEIR CHILDREN HAVE PEACE IN THEIR LIVES.
