Horner HITS BACK At Perez Despite INCREDIBLE Season!

Спорт

The situation of the second seat at Red Bull for 2025 is still a complete mystery and despite Sergio Perez’s almost perfect start to the season, Red Bull are avoiding committing to anything yet. With the drivers market in complete flux this season Red Bull are keeping their cards close to their chest. Sergio Perez though is pushing hard for the team to confirm his place for next season, after all who wouldn’t want to drive in the best car on the grid right now? Today I’m going to check out what happened at the Chinese Grand Prix, what Sergio Perez has to say about his position for next season, and how Christian Horner has completely shut him down, so don’t go anywhere.

If Sergio's performance level is maintained, and Red Bull decides to replace him, who would want the seat as, history shows, your time there, is entirely temporary. Having Marko doesn't help either.

Well...while I'm happy with Checo atm, he is still often more than a half second slower than Max per lap in races. Red Bull honored Checo's contract despite his awful form last year, and his contract ends this year. I wouldn't mind Red Bull looking for better racer with more potential after him targeting 2026.

Eh, Red Bull has always strived to be number one in every category, and they consistently achieve that goal. by not growing any attachments to anything that doesn't starve to that goal even if everyone is caught up in the development of their cars Red Bull will always have an edge due to having the best pit spots the best game plan and the best driver lineup

There is no legitimate excuse why checo is in gapping the field like Max is. He might not be able to always beat Max but he should be able to always beat everyone else and he never comes close to that level of dominance.

Checo is doing fine job atm, he is finally a very solid 2nd driver in Red Bull this year. However, the team should start eyeing the 2026 and after. Checo won't have enough time to settle with the new concept of a car, and not sure whether Red Bull will have luxury of extending Perez just for a year. Red Bull will eye on younger driver with more potential. I would love to see Sainz in Red Bull, but Red Bull only can promise 2nd driver offer while Audi will offer the 1st driver paycheck and benefits.

Red Bull can end up loosing Verstappen. Verstappen is a highly principaled man and I don't think he cares to much for Horner and I think there are a few things that don't sit right with him. 2026 and the new car is around the corner and although RB have been dominant the last three seasons, that dominance may not carry over into the new car. It is also highly likely that Adrian Newey is leaving RB, and I find it hard to believe that Max will want to continue with RB without him there. Idk, I can be wrong, but I just get the feeling that Max maybe moving on.

There’s 2 things at play here. Sergio started amazing last season, then fell off, then turned it back on. So it makes sense redbull would wait to sign him if they’re going to extend him. 2nd, yes he’s done well enough to stay, and I like checo, but in any sport you take upgrades where you can, and there’s no doubt sainz is an upgrade is driver. Whenever any team stops trying to get upgrades when they can they’ll fall behind.

Checo is the ideal teammate for Max, happy to stand in his shadow. Sainz would be a terrible fit for RB - he's a #1 driver and should be on a team that allows him to be that. I still can't believe Ferrari has kicked him to the curb. Maybe MBenz is where Sainz ends up?

Horner is a puke and Perez ought to take a walk from the Red Bull team. I know I know who in their right mind would willingly give up a seat on the team that has dominated the game for a good number of years now. But as with each winning team on prior sections of time in F1 other teams dominate until they too are removed from the head mantle and another squad takes that place. Red Bull has got to be approaching their end time as dominator and winner. Drivers should consider the unknowns a bit more than maybe they do. I know, sounds stupid to say but behind the wheel, these things can be very consuming to a driver's 'mind time'.

Its not a perfect start to the season at all. Points wise yes, but the other teams are transitioning to what will be huge changed next year and Perez is STILL unable to match anything anywhere close to Max in the same car. He looks okay because the other cars are so far behind, but as they said at the end of last season and start of this, they know how this season will go and theyve accepted that and what theyre really focused on is for next year. Each race is still an unknown with Checo, and mix that with a uninspired personality and lack of selling power, I dont think he stands much chance to be there when the likes of Sainz will very soon be a free agent.

Last year, at the same point, Perez had already 2 wins and 105 points and still there were questions at the end of the season if he was good enough. Today he has 20 points less and zero victory, so you can hardly say he has the perfect season start. With a car like this, he should at least finish 2nd on every race with no technical issues or crashes, and should challenge Max for the win, that hasn't be once the case till now. Of course you have to wonder if ANY driver on the grid would perform better. I'm not at all convinced Sainz could over an entire season because of his irregularity, but perhaps he could snatch a victory here and there.

I'm happy with Perez, however, for Red Bull's long term plan, Perez is not an ideal candidate to pair up in 2026 and onwards. They would want the younger driver who may adapt faster with different style of a car. If Red Bull finds a better candidate, they will go for that driver. If not, I guess a year of extension is not too bad for both parties, but if so, I think Red Bull would want to give a chance to other drivers in 2025 who may continue to stay after if they are good.

Hes worth a second look, particularly with the experience he has now. When he was last at Redbull he was just starting to come good. A couple tangles with Hamilton potentially costing Albon a race win knocked his confidence. Being so inexperienced, he then he tried too hard and crashed too many times. Now is a different story.
