Yet again, another of your videos that didn't fall into my inbox! Fascinating stuff! How you can do all that while looking through the back of a phone camera is beyond me!!!!

There does seem to be a problem with youtube. I get the same thing sometimes. How do I do it through the back of the phone? No idea. Gives me a headache just thinking about it.

Hi Simon! Well this was educational! I had no idea that this model was DCC ready! It's obviously a lovely model, and if my layout were going to be set any earlier it would definitely be on my wishlist! I'll make do with the MK1 Pullmans though, as they're also rather nice! Cheers, Ian.

Hello Ian, I didn't know it was DCC either until I looked. There isn't naything on the outside of the box that leaps out at you. I got so lucky with mine on price, if you want one now you don't find them under £299. Ouch!

Hello Simon, thank you for this informative video. I was unaware of there being two similar versions of the Brighton Belle, just thought there was the 1934 version that was shown on your channel all those months ago. Knowing now that there are two versions I will start looking/bidding for either the 1934, or 1960’s version. I appreciate you taking the time in producing this video. I hope the new build goes well (golf permitting!) and will follow the build with interest, regards Joe.

Hello Joe. I think these were released at the same time or maybe a year apart. The packaging and serial numbers are just too similar for one to be pre DCC and the other DCC ready. I would certainly take that miniscule gamble. I do wonder why they released both versions, but then Graham Farish released the blue midland pullman and the later grey/blue british rail colours too so why not 1934 and 1960? I've just got some more timber for the loft and hopefully in July I will be getting the insulation. The video was no bother, it took no time and provides something different for the channel. I can't keep doing running sessions. Cheers

Hi Simon. I think that maybe the only major difference in the bodies will be the decoration. The yellow warning panels be the most obvious. I am pretty sure, in fact I know that the 1934 version never had the warning panels and when you think about it 1934 to 1960 is only twentysix years. And in terms of rolling stock that is no time at all. Just look at more modern stuff like the class 37 or the class 43. Both of these are over forty years old. You have the model close up so you might be able to see more differences than I but if you were to buy the 1934 version you would still be able to run it without any quibbles. Then have a small piece of yellow electrical tape and stick it on the ends to replicate a later version. Anyway a very good and imformative video. Good luck mate.

I'm pretty sure the only difference is going to be the bodies. They look like they were released at exactly the same time or maybe a year apart so the internals should be the same. Simon

Hi Simon. I completely forgot to mention the connectors. The Hornby OO version has the same coach connectors and yes they are just as fiddly. Its a good idea but I know that quite a lot of people replace them with better more simple one's. Or they hard wire them and leave them on their layouts in theirs fiddle yards. I csn,t see me doing that in OO gauge. I had an idea of using a connector similar to the Jack on a set of headphones. It only needs to be able to connect positive and negative unless you go for sound. But you can also buy DCC cable which is very fine if you wanted to hard wire your Belle. Just some food for thought for you. If you ever need to know about a particular loco and need some extra info give me a call and see if I might know a bit more. I,m always happy to help. Good luck.

Hello Brian, I am more than happy with the connectors. Once I'm in the loft it will stay made up in a siding like everything else and I wont have to worry about it again. Simon

is it possible to put a powercar at both ends of a 5 coach unit and run it?

I have no idea. Would polarity be an issue? With each unit facing a different way they will want to drive off in different directions. Plus the power connection for the lights through the coupling. Let's say yes it is with some wiring adjustments. All depends if you want to get the soldering iron out. I'd say not worth it. The main car pulls strongly enough. That's all I can think of, I'm no expert. In fact I'm a million miles from being an expert. Thanks for the query.
