Wow, thanks Terry! I bet Horizon Hobby will be happy to hear some positive feedback ;) Been so long since I flew the T-28, but I'll do one again some day. It was my favorite for a LONG time.

This is such a great video, thank you! My Eleven Hobby T-28 Maiden went great, perfect actually. Got two batteries through it before wind picked up. My only fault was scraping the rudder on takeoff!

There's literally too many for me to keep track of - thanks for understanding!

I love the t28. That's the first RC plane I'd ever saw on youtube. I'm working on my skills, before buying it, because I known if I buy it, I will fly it, and it will die, immediately...lol. I re-bought the sky king after it flew off to china, and broke it on a very windy day here on Rockaway Beach NY, I bought the xk A800, and bought the XK A100 J11. Just to get my chops up. Have you flown any other T-28's any suggestions on a first one?

This plane would be okay, once you get your feet under you. It's a great flying 1.2m AS3X (Stabilization) equipped model. If Horizon Hobby would ever re-release it, it will have SAFE (Auto Leveling). BUT this plane will help you learn to fly. It's a JOY to fly. I've flown mine in some HORRIBLE Weather, and still LOVED it!

So I flew my t28 1.1mm to make long story short I had the elevator wrong so when I took off I pulled back and it went down it was hard crash but everything was fine just the front cowling got damage and the pilot is hanging off I got a guy helping me he would take the transmitter away when I would get into trouble the first 2 times then the last 3 times I took off did some turns really high and I landed 2 out of 3 almost perfect the plane is a beauty when you land it I think I did ok I just need more stick time the guy sead I did good just have to not do my turns as sharp and not to over correct it was not fun in the beginning but then as I got a little more confidence it felt fun would you recommend the simulator?

Good for you!!! Simulator would be a good idea, but for me, a simulator was just too fake (easier than real life). I needed the real deal to really learn properly. Simulators WILL help you with your thumb's muscle memory though, even though sometimes the physics are a bit fake. Glad you plane is still in mostly one piece. Keep flying! Learn from your mistakes, some of them will be expensive; don't let them go to waste!!!

Hello Brian i have the same T-28 BNF my AS3X is activated but doesn't seem to work right when I put the aeroplane 180 degrees the Ailerons are not reacting, also the elevator is only correcting in one way. The receiver is a Ar636A and I use and old silver Dx9. Would be very thankful for your help.

Start unplugging things and plugging them into the same confirmed port, so you can see what direction your servos move... Establish that your radio system is working perfectly... THEN ...start looking at the direction of AS3X correction. You need to KNOW that the left aileron command from YOU, is moving them the RIGHT direction. Then see if AS3X is moving it the right direction...and if the LATER is the only part that's wrong...your Rx is probably not setup for whatever wing type you setup, or it's wired wrong, or the servo is physically the WRONG one (might be a REVERSE SERVO). If it's wrong, you have to reprogram it with a PC/phone since it's an AR636A (OLD Style), or use a SERVO SIGNAL REVERSER ...(see the list below...lots of choices) to make the ONE servo move the other way, then fix your CONTROL direction to match suit, but this is complicated by your issue with your ailerons....plus you've only given me about 10% of the information I would need to help you any more. Brian, just curious why you mix a little rudder with ailerons. Do you do that with all your planes or some. I’ve often wondered if it’s better to turn using both rudder and ailerons. Can you please give a brief explanation when and why you would use both together. Thanks a bunch

Sure Gene...I'll try my bets. I like to do this in many of my warbirds, but I don't usually do it on sailplanes since I actively use the rudder so much....sometimes I'll mix it in when the spoilerons or flapperons are deployed since I'll lose some of the aileron travel, and the rudder can help with roll control, in those cases. The idea is that it helps to have a more coordinated (real looking) turn, without adding much to the pilots workload. It's mixed into a lot of trainers as an aid, but I've learned to use both thumbs a lot of the time anyway, and many times I'll just throw 10% mix or less, then I'll just supplement with my left thumb. Why do I do it? When you fly there's a lot of stuff going on, and if you can prepare yourself and reduce these items down to 4 or 5 key items, you will hopefully have a better, more enjoyable flight experience, not that you'll avoid a crash because of it, but it might make it easier to enjoy watching, or just have a better looking flight. Make sure the rudder moves the same direction as your ailerons. You should definitely try it out!

thanks, i got another question thats been haunting me but not related to this. if you have a vid on this let me know. When it comes to picking out a battery, how do you pick the correct discharge rate. How important is "c" when choosing a bat. And when you're matching all three of these (motor, ESC, & battery), where do you begin. I've watched many videos on this but still can't grasp the concept of making sure the amps and watts are paired up, for the best performance. When you multiply mAh by the c you get total amps, right? And there is something called burst amps? If you know a good video or if you have time to talk about it thank you. if you don't already have one this topic, it would make a great addition to your list in my humble opinion. Thank you

Just kidding, that's not all... Yes, you have to know what battery to use. Here's the rule of thumb...use as small as you can use, with as high a "C" Rating as you can afford, that will allow you to achieve proper CG in the aircraft. Look at the manufacture's recommendations, then go a step of two above it (in terms of "C" rating), if you want your lipo's to give you everything you really want. If they say, 2200mAh 3S 20C, I'd never run less than 40C, but I'd use 2200mAh 3S...partly because of the WAY that I use the aircraft, and partly because of the way I use my lipo's (I run them low, and keep them charged...both BAD for lipo chemistry). This is just a "rule of thumb". Then you give it the, "was it powerful enough" test on the first flight, and decide if you want more power. Sometimes you need another Cell, like a 4S when they call for 3S. MAKE SURE your ESC and Motor SAY they can handle it, but even if they do, they may not be up to the task...this is where you can plan to come and watch me or another KZread channel for advice. Trial and error is a REAL part of this hobby. Sure, you can do math, but who has all the specs??? You gotta measure the load live to see how it will respond, thus guess and check...let me do some of it for you :).

What did you mean by you run them low and keep them charged. How long do you keep batteries charged for? The other day I left a lipo in my plane over night. I checked the battery and the checker didn't even go on. But I was able to fix it and it's now fine. Has that ever happened to you?

You might have to unscrew the four mounting screws and throw a couple washers under the opposite corner from the "bend" to correct the wheel down strait, since there are 90 degree rotation on the retracts. Aluminum, and they hold up okay...the nose gear bogey takes a beating...as you can imagine, so when something goes, that's it. I had mine for years before I broke the nose gear.

I got one of these and boy am so gladI bought it, it is just an excellent one! E-flite is really top quality, nothing compared to chinese brands, I did the maiden today and everything went pretty smooth, had to put back by a bit the 3S 2200mah battery of the battery tray to have a good CG, the plywood tray should have been put a bit more to the back in my opinion otherwise everything works smoothly, once you have flown the A320 you can fly almost any other prop plane ha? :) kzread.info/dash/bejne/maB_ubmJqLWriJc.html

No doubt! This plane is an EXCELLENT trainer, and I fly it several times a week, regardless of how crazy windy it is. One of my favorites, which is why the T-28 is almost never on sale. Horizon Hobby could probably increase the price and still sell the thing (BUT DON'T DO THAT IF YOU'RE READING HORIZON HOBBY!!!!) LOL
