    It's a nice plane, and don't want to talk anyone OUT of buying it, but it's my LEAST favorite of the Horizon Hobby 1.2m war birds. She's the hardest to fly, doesn't tolerate cross wind well, and landings are tough....but she is a total beauty!!! If you get one (or already have it) it's only worth flying on 4S. 3S is 100% throttle for everything, and high speed passes are super-lame-o...LOL

    Brian I love ALL of your videos. You are the best. I am a subscriber and look everyday for your videos. Your wife does an amazing job of videoing you. I have but one request. You so very often have such valuable information but all too often it gets missed because of the recording capability of your "camera". I would like to suggest that perhaps you could get some kind of remote microphone that would record your voice to the video. Please keep up the good work. You are very much appreciated.

    I realize this is a limitation that takes away some of the quality that we'd all like to have, and we are slowly inching our way to some better gear :) I'm so glad to have you, and hope to keep your interest.... ...in fact, I just got a package in the mail, which will be going into my newest project. Watch for it!

    Spitfire, thanks to its elliptical low wing & v streamlined body, have peculiar flight characteristics, but not in a bad way, which poses interesting challenge. Once u get these dialed in, I love their SLOW GRACEFUL RESPONSE: ie wide turns even stalls & stall recovery is gradual. Once u get a hang of it, u always wanna have one working spitfire in your repertoire... Sadly no brushless spitfire available in under 800mm size class.

    Brian! I have this plane and I haven't flown it yet and im wondering if its really ok to run 4s in the stock setup? its says its only 3s in the all the instructions and I definitly want to run it on 4s.

  • @BrianPhillipsRC

    Yes, and you will want too! It's not tooo doggy on 3S, but on 4S it's spectacular! Horizon Hobby came out and admitted it on a public announcement. Also, I've done it, and many others have done it with no negative repercussions. I understand your concern, for sure, but in this case, you're good!

    Very nice clip as always! ;) Btw. if you compare Esteban's Razorback, the Spitfire and the Mustang P51D (Blondie or the new 1.2m) - wich one do you prefer for flying and landing? I'm currently not sure if I should get the ne P51D 1.2m or the Razorback... flying from a low cut grass airfield and planning to fly 3s 3300 and maybe 4s 2200-2600. Thanks

    Oh, tough question!!! I love my 1.2m Mustang the best, but she's been used and abused....so not in the air often with her. The P-51D flies fast, and slow...and looks the best, in my personal opinion. All three are great though :)

  • @BrianPhillipsRC

    @BrianPhillipsRC

    Have you made the channel assignment for the switch you're trying to use? For example, if you want the GEAR switch (switch A by default), you won't need to set that up, that I know of, since it's defaulted to GEAR, but if you switch another 3 Position switch...you need to check and see if you can see anything happen in MONITOR MODE, on any channel when you flip that switch. If you don't, then you're not changing the condition on any of the channels, thus the Rx won't know how to respond, even though you're sticks are pointed DOWN and IN at each other.... I hope you can get it figured out, but also...unfortunately you'll be sharing a channel with another function, so this will cause some headaches, since you only have 6 channels... (in no particular order...just counting) 1) Throttle2) Rudder3) Ailerons4) Elevator5) Gear6) Flaps7) SAFE Select - On/Off (you don't have this channel, so you have to actuate SAFE Select with another control surface...which sucks bad to have to do this...)

  • @lw216316

    @lw216316

    I guess you have this figured out by now....if not...you need 7 channels - so time to buy a DX8 or better. I had the same problem - I had a DX6....so bought a DX8 at a swap meet. You could share your gear channel with safe but then you only get safe when the gear is up or down -

    Hi Brian, been a fan of your channel for a number of years commenting via my old account and managed to buy an excellent condition one of these models a few weeks back. The airfield that the full sized MN F flew from in 1944 is near me and I have just made a 7 min video about the airfield so people can see what's left of the airfield and my son and I flew our E flite Spitfire there. If you get time maybe check it out, you might find it interesting. Incidentally I only have 4 videos on my channel and have no great ambitions but would be honored if you took a look at the Spitfire video. The video is called "E Flite Spitfire returns to RAF Lympne", its only 7 mins long and is dedicated to the Squadron that MN F belonged to. Thanks.
