Alliance Taverns: Multi-storied warm, cozy welcoming , usually with warm beds and a kitchen with a cook. Horde Taverns: Grog has a shack with some hammocks where we can drink rot gut and maybe go blind.

I wish our taverns were a little bigger (Like the Filthy Animal in Dalaran) but I love the rustic charm of the Orgrimmar inns. Something about the color and the round layout makes it feel like a den; it's very homey.

I played Horde back in 1996 during Warcraft II and have always had a fascination with the Horde faction, especially the Troll Axethrowers that were presented in Tides of Darkness. At a young age, I found myself daydreaming about the ferocity of the Horde races, and how cool it would be to see one in real life. Even more so after I played Warcraft 3. When World of Warcraft eventually released, and I first saw my neighbor playing a Dwarf character, I wanted more than anything to get the game and make a Horde character. Upon making my first character, a Troll Hunter, I was determined to work up until I could finally fight the alliance. At level 15, I took a Zepplin to Stranglethorn vale, leaped into the ocean, and swam all the way to Westfalls just desperate for a fight against an Alliance player. I ended up getting ganked shortly after getting there, but that didn't discourage me. I was thrilled to be Horde, and ready to work up until I could come back and fight again.

I sometimes go into random Silvermoon or Forsaken taverns and just sit there. There's something relaxing and deep about them that puts me into a soothing mood. Of course, it also helps to find the random couple or couple of people who are messing around with each other or fooling around with the expectation that no one will find them. I do. For the Horde, remember the Sunwell. And yes, of course, Dark Lady watch over you.

One thing I've noticed from the very similar shades of music in this game is that the Alliance and the Horde are very ambiguous, morally, actively, and personally. It seems like their goals are polar opposites-- They may both want to uphold Honor, Valor, and Justice, but the Alliance wants order while the Horde wants freedom. That singular end goal is so ambiguous, so up-to-interpretation and representation that it leaves these factions so different. The Alliance is collected and planful in their actions, good or bad or questionable as they may be, the Horde is rampant and unleashed... again, good or bad or questionable as they may be. So it's left purely up to interpretation. Maybe the Alliance simply has the kinder, more honorable leaders. Maybe the Horde is more honest and their goals are more equalizing. Maybe you like the colors and the methods and the philosophies of the Alliance. Maybe you like the surprisingly kind ways of the Horde. That's why this game is so good with PvP. It doesn't make you feel bad for choosing a side, but it doesn't make you feel good either. Some people just like both factions, like myself. (i have a lean towards the horde tho) The music really fits that really morally subjective feel that this faction system really does have.

i can agree with this. i joined up because of voljins speech. the horde is a family. we fight like one but we pick each other up when we gotta. its a home. one with friends stories and family at your side

That was always a unique and defining aspect about the Warcraft story line even in the original RTS. The orcs were not "the bad guys" they were just being controlled by the Burning Legion to do bad things. I always felt bad for the orcs, hence why I always chose the Horde side. I like an underdog story.

I think it has shifted a little in later wow. Horde is becoming more militaristic , agressive , evil in some way. Under Sylvanas' rule i dont quite see them fighting for "freedom" anymore , which is sad. The true Horde , the Thrall's Horde - still lives in our hearts.

This was always the appeal of wow to me, something I can't help but feel got lost in recent years. It wasn't this black and white story of heroes fighting monsters. You could make a decent case for either faction being in the right. I have always played a Blood Elf, and I never saw any of the races of the Horde as the *bad guys*. Undead, minotaurs, Orcs, Trolls, Goblins? all are usually portrayed as generic evil monsters in fantasy settings. But in wow, they were my brothers and sisters in arms, I understood their goals, their plights, and their drives, and I agreed with them- and there was genuine a feeling of genuine antagonism towards the traditionally good alliance races for opposing my comrades.

Writing my book about World of Warcraft while listening to this is my whole week end plan

Sometimes I get this terrible craving to go back, maybe give it a go once more, maybe just for a month or so, for old times sake. I miss my characters, I miss so many of the places and how they felt, I miss the music and just goofing around with my pals. But WoW was already a festering mess with BfA, and now with SL and the all the stuff that concerns Blizzard itself, I can no longer play this game without this bitter aftertaste. There would always be this nagging thought at the back of my head, the army of bots next to me and yet another drawn-out rep-grind in front of me. I loved this game with all my heart but now I simply cannot be arsed anymore to put up with any of that....

Imagine that when you die, you can choose between Horde or Alliance... lol and just pop up in this game where others like you have come with the same wish.

Wow I love how you sat on the balcony of your level 3 tavern of your garrison. Such a great shot. Tauren music while in a Silvermoon inn, sounds kinda weird.

Just subscribed! Been downloading these as video screensavers, I'm incredibly pleased with the quality. I would love to see some more legion, WOD, and MOP zones, specifically valsharah, suramar, stormheim, highmountain, nagrand, gorgrond, shadowmoon valley, vale of eternal blossoms, townlong steppes, and kun lai summit. Keep up the awesome work!

Oh, I see. That was more of a direct request, I'm not really planning on adding more individual files to the cloud this way. The thing is, first of all, all these files should already be readily available _somewhere_ on the internet (Wohead, etc.). Everything that you hear in this particular compilation existed for 12-13 years and was uploaded/posted/reposted numerous times. Secondly, if you want to listen to tavern music you can check out the official Taverns of Azeroth album. The arrangements are different there but the tunes are the same, and in higher quality as a bonus. 👍

I am a human alliance warrior, technically the horde is my enemy. But my brothers, I am not a warrior focused on PVP. Therefore, if I have to cooperate with hordes, I would always do it with great pleasure. For that same camaraderie feeling I can enjoy these melodies from the opposite side.
