HOPES AND DREAMS - Once In A Lifetime Nevada Archery Elk Hunt
Спорт
After both drawing the same coveted elk tag in Nevada; Scott, a first-time elk hunter, and Lorenzo, who waited 12 years to draw the tag, team up for a once in a lifetime archery elk hunt.

Anyone ever notice how videos that show youtubers doing normal things gets a lot of hate? But a good video like this with a hunt has no hate at all? Just fellow hunters being awesome people to you.
Props to Lorenzo for putting so much time into helping Scott get his first archery bull elk in a unit that neither one of them will hunt again for a long time. Lorenzo waiting three times as long to draw and still put Scott first in line is crazy to me. Scott definitely should have skipped school to pay it back!!! Congrats to both for a great hunt!

I would never pick school over hunting. But maybe that’s why I break my back to make money 😂😂
Everything that is great about hunting is here in this video. The comradery with friends, helping someone with their first bull, hard work, the failures, and ultimately the successes. Great work guys, again. Congratulations on your successful hunt.

Haha. Thank you!! We just love to hunt and keep it real.
Congrats Scott! Nice harvest, NOW YOU'RE HOOKED!
Tremendous video, this is coming from a guy who lives in West Virginia and is still working on my list of many first (got my first Eastern Gobbler with my Dad after years of trying this spring) including taking my first archery whitetail whether doe or buck (even though a 4x4 at 20 yards would have me jacked the most, it is still about the hunt and the experience, so starting with a doe would be sweet). One of my goals is in the next 2-5 years to go after my first elk with a bow (probably try rifle first) and have them bugling their heads off and feel that thunderclap to the chest with them running around. (well aware it takes plenty of work to get there, even a great mentor like Lorenzo would be nice). A Big congrats to Scott on his first elk ever and to do it with two great friends/coworkers in a unit that appears to be hard to draw. What a dream hunt indeed. So apparently it is legal to use mechanical broadheads in Nevada? I was under the impression that overall they were illegal in western states, but just like most things, always done state by state and it is nice to be familiar with the regulations of said state. Good to know. Congrats Lorenzo, you helped one of your young hardworking employees complete a Dream Hunt, nothing more important than passing on the PASSION for the outdoors. I can see the gratefulness in Scott's face, even though he had to return for finals. If you needed an extra set of eyes, you have a staff full of capable people. lol ... I am glad you got to call in that bull even if he wasn't in the 340-350 and up class, that is quite the accomplishment in of itself. Bravo to the 3 of you and thanks for sharing such a cool and inspiring video. I hope to also check off a first or two this fall.

Awesome video. Was wondering what kind of pants the guy that was helping call and spotting was wearing. Was wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction on finding them. Thanks
@GOHUNT

Sure thing! They are the Kuiu guide pants.
Here in Los Banos you don’t really see them, the chances are really really low. I was sitting down, and waiting for pigs and deer to come but and giant animal came right in front of me at 40 yards through some bushes, of course me having bad eye sights, I was like if that’s a buck then I’m about to set some sort of record right now, because the thing is a giant, I slowly grab my binoculars and looked at it and was like whoa! That an elk, look at the rack on that thing! Freaken huge! Far by the biggest animal I’ve seen while hunting.

What do you guys recommend for hauling the meat out?

A pack with a load shelf. Most of us in the office either use Stone Glacier or Mystery Ranch packs. All of which are good for hauling out meat.
good lord that bull has balls the size of Neptune.

What’s the electrical tape on the antlers for?
@GOHUNT
4 жыл бұрын
Hey Brian. Great question. After the shot, the bull fell over hard and snapped a bunch of the antlers. Luckily they found the broken pieces and used electrical tape so they could get a good photo of the bull for memories. The taxidermist was able to fix everything right up.
What does that bull score

Was it a hernia? An infection? I wish there was a little bit about that. I am a wildlife biologist, and a nerd so I was hoping to have seen some about that.
I have to comment ....... I was a hunter ed. instructor a while back and as a word of advice to the guy in your thumbnail .... DO YOU HAVE A DEATHWISH ? NEVER pack a set of antlers from ANY animal "tips up" because they look like they are still on the animal and you have NO idea who else is hunting around you . Too many hunters do not properly identify their target before pulling the trigger and that is a risk I refuse to take .... DO YOU ? That exact reason is why I started bow hunting and quit rifle hunting , too many boneheads in the woods during rifle season . I will just stop there since this is one of my pet peeves and I could go on a while about this so have a good day and I hope you don't get yourself shot , it tends to ruin a good hunt I hear .
@GOHUNT
5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for reaching out. This was an archery only hunt in a hard to draw unit. So very few bowhunters and on the packout, there was a total of four people walking and talking about the hunt. So plenty of noise was being made to alert any other hunters. If this was during rifle season, then yes, you should be extra careful with how you pack it out. Hope you have a great day.

Not trying to be a jerk , I just hate to think someone might get hurt or killed because they got into a VERY bad habit and went into "auto pilot" when prepping their packboard for the pack out in the future . Hunt Safe .
