Also to think a little deeper into things there’s a lot of lures and baits that animals are caught on that the animal may not like, just out of curiosity and the animal thinking gross what’s that smell lol then they get caught and the trapped thinks they lived it lol.

Basically three types of lure/attractants; gland (territorial), curiosity, and food. I believe most lures fall under the curiosity label and in many situations can be a first choice, go to lure.

Watch for signs on the rock pile coyotes love playing on high spots. I always check the ag limestone piles because sign is hard to find in ag country.

You can, certainly need a bait and lure too. Adds another dimension.

I noticed some houses in the background. Do you ever catch domestic dogs and if you do what happens? Are they hurt very bad or do the new traps allow for their safe release?

We are very conscious of where we set traps to avoid issues with domestic dogs. Fortunately we have not had any issues for a number of years. The traps we use have an offset jaw (gap between the jaws), and are cast as well - which disperses pressure and eliminates edges. Traps chains have seven swivel points and have a shock absorb-er in the chain also. The traps are made to keep the animal as comfortable as possible. Dogs are released to go on their way in the event one was caught.

DO YOU THINK IT HURTS TO TRAP A PLACE YEAR AFTER YEAR CONTINUOUSLY?
@HoosierTrapperSupply
5 жыл бұрын
No, Even if you caught every coyote more coyotes will move in. If there was a lot of trapping pressure in the surrounding areas you might see a decline.
