Another scary aspect of the game which you didn’t mention is the urge to instantly jump ahead and get an item through third parties, for as long as I can remember there have been Ebay sellers who will sell you halos and crazy amounts of diamonds for an equally crazy ( and i mean CRAZY ) price. I myself am a buyer who once bought two halos off Ebay and the feeling afterwards is horrible- a lot of these ‘rich’ players have fallen into the habit of spending insane amounts of money on Ebay for halos, diamonds and whole sets. It’s honestly really sad how even after players buy every gamepass, there is still an open market that prays on players feeling the need to buy MORE.

Not to mention the fact that the developers have been toxic to Royal High influencers. To be honest, the game is like a drug. You want to quit but you can't.

you can quit but you have to put a rock on heart and LOOSE ALL YOUR so called "PROGRESS" by giving away all your items i did that 2 and half years ago i was Insanely ADICTTED TO RH i had no multipliers but i put in TIME and too much of it i would play RH for 2 years 24/7 and got massively rich but one day when i got scamed a lil while trading i started going crazy sad in that moment just to console my self i thought what even is the use on these items irl why am i so sad over it i tried to get my stuff back by profit trading but it wasn't working then all of this lead me to the same thoughs as this video mainly wasting realife time for small dopamine hits in a game and for what at the END!? will i always keep pushing through these hunger games of rh to feel a sense of achivement . DAY N NIGHT all i though was how to get rich in the game.. butterflies in my stomach all the time thinking of my pretty avatar and my achivements but i realised the fakeness i felt empty (moreover at that time the news that new school campus is about to come out had been there for AGES and the train bow skirt just got reworked and over priced) and in that moment with thousands of thoughs in my mind i decided i will GIVEAY ALL my items and money so i have nothing to come back to i gaveaway my first batch of items and OH the guilt but now what had to be done was done those items weren't coming back..now in the entire trading hub the news was spread that i was giving away stuff a lot of it of "very high values" people started to lineup up for me to give a batch of items and dimonds to each so i did it slowly the guilt was now turing into a sense of freedom and the GREED was going away instead of trying to scam trade people i was helping them i felt the human in me come back, instead of a riches craving zombie! people were being super happy and grateful SENDING ME TONS! AND TONS! of blessings i felt so good, at that moment i knew that now i had nothing left i was FREE! i could play what i want for FUN eat read study do what i wanted/to should do without having constant cravings for RH and it's TOXICITY you won't belive how good peoples blessings were they made my day i gained 51 friend requests that day. i'm telling you it's WORTH IT! This video was so well made. The last line of ‘At least I look pretty, right?’ hit so hard. I’ve been playing the game since it was Enchantix High and was there when Royale High debuted. I’ve been there from the start, and I can confirm everything you said was true. It used to be a fun role play game where players could interact with others and make friends. Now it’s just a cash cow. There’s no soul going into the game. Everything is overpriced and all about grinding. The core of the game now is the ‘dress up’ element and the need to look good. I haven’t spend a dime on this game and even after playing it daily, I was only level 180. This game is no longer the cute role play game, it used to be and I’m happy I left. You covered all the frustrations of players and the fact this game is not new player friendly. This has turned into a pay-to-win. I loved you video and editing style and I am happy to be a new subscriber. Thank you 😊.

Exactly. I also joined in Enchantix High. I feel like removing it was a final blow, that place was where the most roleplays were hosted. I used to roleplay with my friend in this game ALL THE TIME. We both stopped playing because it feels too different.. After that, I played like after spring in RH for a month, a MONTH only of my happiness to get more stuff, winning trades, etc. Thats why I relate to the video SOOO much-When she said, ‘Now I am pretty, but for what?’. That was so relatable and that was excactly I felt right before I quit.

I've been playing RH since 2018, and I have everything I ever wanted in the game. I lost interest in my halo phase, tradi ng phase, and spent $100+. I'm on level 2k+. It is almost like gambling, gambling for a minute, or a month of happiness of getting your dream items/halo, I gotten halos. I wanted traded them away, helped friends, grinding with friends, I even rushed through school, cried when I was early for an update, traded dream items for the newest set, etc. I was ADDICTED. the last time of my addiction was in the Easter egg hunt. As soon as people find the truth, and many open their eyes, we always end up bored or empty feeling. I get my dream item I'm happy for a week or so, grinned 2 months early, made a 1m diamond plan thar takes 3 months, 80k a week, 320k (or more/depending the month's days) a month. I even made friends, nowadays we are in our teens, or some us already have jobs, college, our years of RH is fading, I barely check if my friends are online, or there not online at all, due to jobs, school, mental, physical health, etc. RH taught math too, time management, planning, dreaming, worst was addiction to gambling with my happiness, I felt happier, less stress after playing games outside of RH. We all can only stay in RH for so long since it's part of our childhood. Edit: Too lazy to correct my grammar, so I'll say it here, I would cry if I got grounded and miss out on updates, or meet and greets of my favorite youtubers, etc. My emotions of this very game were a lot. I spent more time with diamond grinding than hanging out with my online friends, when we do I felt a lot happier, I laughed, cried, good times with my online friends, stressful times with RH.

I agree w u 100% used to spend hours playing the game, making friends, buying sets and loving it! Now it just feels money hungry, deleting the fluttering butterfly set, inflating the cost of everything and it’s just grinding now but for what? Bloxburg uses the same tactic too, but you can build city’s, towns, houses or even a mega pizzaplex. Roleplay with players, but Royale high is just stuck. There’s barely any roleplay left, and earning money is so hard and it gets boring overtime. So I quit because what’s the point. I miss the old Royale high but there’s nothing we can do when all society cares about most is money. I understand that they were removed because of copyright and would have gotten in big trouble if they kept it in but 1. why would they not explain why they were removed??? 2. why couldn't they just get a rework? they rework literally I swear every other set besides the cultural innacurate cherry blossom set and these ones(which, would have been easy to modify to not get copyrighted). Ugh I'm just glad I stopped playing because yeah at this point it is very much a chore to play and they took away most of the stuff I even liked from the game(enchantix, FB & EH, the new years realm and not giving us another update not even FIREWORKS, etc ETC.)

Royale high literally is so thirsty for your time and money. they want you to keep playing so they make pretty schools and maps but you don’t have anything to do. They delay updates so you keep playing and waiting and waiting for more. They tease you with upcoming updates that’s going to take a million years to complete. Royale high is dying, and I understand why. I used to think (Fr just like 1 month ago) why it was dying. Why everyone hated it. It was such a fun game. But now I realize they just want us to keep playing, and playing, and playing. It’s gotten so, SO boring. I’ve invested 5 years in this crap. Not to mention you literally used to gamble your diamonds with the fountain. Right. The wheel and the fountain are there for you to keep wishing and spinning, hoping you’ll get a prize. They make you play everyday with the fountain, hoping that you never let go and keep trying. The daily logins make you login everyday hoping for a special badge that doesn’t even give you anything. And the low cash prizes. This is bullshart and RH thinks it’s okay.

Worst part about it is how hateful and bigoted the devs are mixed with how performative activists in the community pretend to care and claim they want them to change, that they're going to boycott, and they're back as soon as they put out some apology or even just updating anything, because in reality nobody playing cares. Anyone who did care and doesn't want RH to be in the position it's in, to not have a platform, quit years ago when this stuff came out. Content creators for the game only care about the issues when it personally affects them, and come running back the instant it's no longer an issue. The developers - and particularly the owners, Barbie and Launce - constantly take advantage of people, they pay poorly if they can get away with it, or not at all as seen by the case of the 300+ uncompensated artists (which was called out YEARS ago, and has, to this day, never been addressed!). They do not respect their playerbase except for the aspect of that they print money for them. The poor economy is intentional to keep people trading for 'dream items' that are, one day, going to be useless. They are vehemently anti-representation except when it looks good for PR. The manipulative sunk cost fallacy stuff which has been called out for years is one thing but the influencer culture and how people just will not let the game go no matter what they do is the big problem. Don't pay your artists? Well, they never said they were gonna pay them! Slurs as the names of in-game items? A few of them managed to get fixed but others don't (and it's mostly the worse ones). Launce calls a group of black women toxic for calling him out for racism? Community doesn't mind. They block POC community members on their new X account before said account is even made known? Brushed aside. They partner with pro-genocide companies for their toys? Doesn't matter to the community, they'll just keep playing RH. RH is a community that is ran by manipulation. It is a terrible example for children - RH players are toxic because they are taught to be toxic. In the past, they have turned their fanbase on competitors to make them fail even before they released. They pressure the idea that even trying a different game of a similar genre is being disloyal to RH, so RH players never try any of the alternatives, meaning they never see how much better they are. Which is important to RH, because people who go try AR or RK2 or whatever quickly realize how easy it is to get currency and buy items to wear - they don't want RH players to figure out that they aren't being respected and that they're draining their time. It would be a huge hit to RH if it became common knowledge that other dress-up games do not require hours of grind to get one basic skirt. If you're still reading and have no idea what what this comment is going on about, I heavily encourage reading up on the Roblox Wiki's article on RH, there is a LOT of messed up stuff that has been swept under the rug. The funniest part to me is that, objectively, the new school made the game even worse than it already has been. With the release, a lot of previous reasonable-ish methods for farming (reminder that farming should NOT be required gameplay to get anywhere in a game - a game that necessitates it is, by definition, wasting your time!) were removed. It's very manipulative, and it needs to be called out so people stop playing. STOP PLAYING. If you have issues with the game, STOP PLAYING. If you agree that the owners' behaviour and bigotry is vile, STOP PLAYING. Every second you play gives them more metrics and money. The game will stop being able to take advantage of people if the players move on. If you feel like you're obsessed to where it's an addiction, consider using some sort of personal blocker extension to prevent you from going to RH's webpage. You can use webpage blockers designed to help you focus to specifically block RH's page. Remove the play button on RH's webpage with Stylus or some other personal CSS tool (requiring CSS knowledge). The Roblox website extension RoSeal lets you block experiences, which will remove RH entirely from view unless you go directly to the link of the game (and you will be warned if you try). Barbie and Launce will continue to have a tight hold on people, and a platform they should not have, as long as people keep playing. The statement really needs to be that people need to leave, and giving them advice on HOW to quit, because otherwise they'll stay hooked.

(even i'm guilty), but i haven't witnessed. a single. roleplay. in this new campus. *what???* i have purchased every gamepass, and even parts of that goddess of triumph set. i was a very active trader, gaining hundreds of thousands of diamonds in days alone. i never felt this sunk cost fallacy, but i felt the addiction. i never really knew what my goal was, since i didn't have everything, but i didnt want everything. i would stalk the halls of traderie, scouring for someone who set the price a little bit lower. this game used to be super hard to play on my old mobile device, trying to roleplay in enchantix high. or running around in campus two while it was an ice castle and roleplaying as a lost princess. i agree that this game has fallen to the hands of greed and promises they cant keep. it's been almost a year and the new school still hasn't been finished? they started another one? why can't they finish the task on hand... 😥 i know there are lots of mistakes in my writing here but it has been quite sad to reflect on how this game has changed over the years. from the beginning, it was a roleplay game. now it's some sort of dress up game but hours of grinding are required to have any sort of fun. i was always in fear of losing my account, even for one day, because i could lose my login streak. i treaded carefully on roblox, all because of this game. i strengthened my math skills, planning skills, but for what?

I really hope they don’t ask to take this video down. This is an important message for new and old players since most players are getting influenced by this including myself. Before this video appeared in my recommendation I wasn’t even aware I was "stuck" aswell. I’m not the richest player in a server but I’ve been playing since 2018 so I have a collection of items. In the early days, the game generally used to be fun for rps I could afford most of the shop back then. I guess I still have this mindset today thinking I’m able to get all the items and feel left behind when I’m not. We have to realise that it’s impossible to feel somewhat content without spending thousands of robux. But even after doing so you regret it so much and still will return to the game in the end.

If they haven't asked the RH Wiki [fanmade] to take down their numerous posts about this same topic that they've had for years, nor any of the other objective criticism and discussion of their wrongdoings on articles that have been around a long time, then they probably aren't going to do anything about a video. Unfortunately, the reason for that is more because they know that even widespread videos calling them out on the awful things they've been doing for years and years won't put a dent in their profits. They just have to update the game to add an item from their backlog and anyone pretending they care about activism will come running back as if nothing happened.

This is what I've been thinking but people need to remember. This is literally a roleplay game. There's not necessarily an end to it. Once you start thinking about Royale High for what it is then it becomes better. But again, why do we expect Royale High to stop making things expensive? At this point, this isn't just their fun passion project. It's their job and how the developers sustain themselves. Of course they want to keep you hooked on the game. That's how I've always felt about money. Even in today's day and age people still somehow cannot grasp the idea of it. You explained this very well though, throughout the years I've had this exact same thought but I don't know why no one really talks about this.

I have been playing royals high since 2017. I used to love the game so much because I enjoyed role playing. I mean, that’s what the game was designed for right? Once the new school came out roleplaying pretty much vanished. Very recently I stumbled across someone in royal high and we started playing together. We decided we wanted to role play and so we went to the second campus thinking we would find more people to join us. When we were there someone came up to us and said “Wait is this a role play? I thought people only came here to farm I’ve never seen someone role play in royals high before.” It made me so sad. I mean where did the times go when you could walk up to anyone and start your own role play journey.

im going to to be honest, i’m currently stuck in the phase of playing royal high a lot. It’s happened to me a lot. I’ll play for a month or so, get bored and stop playing, remember how much i used to love royal high in 2020, and join back again. I’m so disappointed in the fact that it’s just a grinding game now. And I used to roleplay A LOT on royal high. But since there aren’t real classes, you need to pay MILLIONS of diamonds to decorate your dorm, and any time you go into a room you get teleported into an entirely different server the new school just isn’t roleplay friendly anymore. And since it’s the first place you spawn into when you join the game, newer players who wanted to roleplay won’t even know the second and first school exist BECAUSE they have to actively want to go there (like pulling up the teleporting option and clicking on the school 2) I’m so upset at barbie for just completely to a 360 of what royal high used to be. Old barbie wanted people to have fun roleplaying and sometimes dressing up in silly outfits, old barbie wouldn’t have racked up to prices to make everything not beginner friendly. I believe that if Old Barbie saw what current her did to royal high..she’d be so disappointed. (srry for the paragraph it is just a super interesting topic to talk abt.)

I’ve been hooked to on rh for a long time. I’ve been playing rh for almost 5 years in 2020. When I was always in school, my friends would be asking why I would play rh every day, (bc I have them as friends on roblox,) and I just said “bc it’s a good fun game ig.” But to my actual self it’s been pretty boring. I understand there’s been new updates and I’m happy about that, but it’s not beginner friendly, or helper friendly to be honest. All it’s really about now is just leveling up and grinding.. it’s really boring now. No one especially doesn’t play campus 2 anymore. I actually was just playing it with my big sister bc we were both bored. And she definitely also agrees of how hard the game is bc when I told her about the whole updates now, she was not happy about having to grind everyday. She still plays it with me, but it’s really hard at this point. For me also having ADHD and OCD, I always go on the game and do my daily task everyday. I fined it so annoying with me having this type of anxiety and everything. I still fined the game pretty fun, but Barbie needs to stop all of this for us all, rh players.

Kinda embarrassing how this video perfectly summed up the situation I’m in too... 💔💔💔 I started playing like dec of 2017 and i still remember back then running around with my friends and attending classes pretending to be some crazy ice fairy and whatnot. Obviously I won’t deny there were already things to purchase with diamonds back then but they were generally really minimal to the point wherein you’ll be able to afford whatever just by playing for a while. It’s crazy to me how much the game has genuinely changed after almost 7 years and while yeah you can really tell it’s improved just by graphics and mechanics but unlike back then, it really hasn’t had the same impact on you that’ll make you think: wow! I can’t wait to play rh today!!! As for the game and community itself!! Trading and riches is the only thing that matters now so uhh... I haven’t come across anybody role playing anymore which is genuinely such a sad thing to see for a “rp game”. Then trying to do the more fun and interacting activities such as art class or sunset island leads to it being spoiled by people writing down their prompts instead of drawing for “the quest” and people dressing off-theme/not dressing at all for their afk farming routines. Oh and also being a f2p in the state of this economy is absolute hell and I have no clue why I’m still going with it 🧍‍♀️ All this for me to still continue playing it a few hours per day and still being too attached to stop so that’s fun isn’t it!! Thank you for the amazing video though oml I don’t think I’ve seen anyone make a video with this perspective yet and it really nails showing the state of the game!!!!!!!!!!

I’m glad it didn’t become an addiction but, I do regret all of the money I spent on that game. my experience with Royale High used to be a good one and it’s definitely turned into a bad one. thank you for making this, it’s nice to learn about your experience with Royale High and other peoples experiences ! This video hit so hard🥲. I’ve been playing Royal high pretty constantly since 2017 and In the more recent years when it became more about grinding I felt so guilty if I didn’t play. In 2023 I farmed 30k diamonds every day just so I could get over priced items on traderie, and playing Roblox or Royal high itself felt like a waste of time if I wasn’t grinding. Fortunately I told myself if won a second halo from the fountain I would quit Royal high. Kinda stupid, but it worked, it was still hard to quit but after a while I just stopped missing Royal high and stopped playing this year. Best choice of my 14 years of living lol and I haven’t looked back. ( if anyone actually reads this and is wondering I have all the game passes except for the new one, I’m level 3685, own 5 halos ,and have a 831 day long in streak. I wish I spent that time doing something better with my life but it is what it is. All my 7-14 y/o self wanted was to play a cute role playing game😢.)

I used to spend lots of time making diamonds on royale high (i did roleplay sometimes). What i found annoying was that everything was so overpriced and i was just spending lots of time to get a bunch of pixels. I was joining along with the brainwashed people who don't know what the original purpose and the true purpose of the game. So nowadays, when playing Royale High, I would just spend a bit of time level grinding and farming but i would just mostly spend my time on Roblox roleplaying on Royale High and playing other games. The thing that really frustrates me is that Royale High is a kids game and they are giving them unhealthy addictions which is just evil. The game is turning alot into adopt me aswell. Everyone trading, level grinding and farming diamonds. Its just so lifeless and people will feel pressured to join the lifeless routine then they will get brainwashed (and kind of hypnotized). In the old Royale High, there were lots of people talking and roleplaying and everything was lively. Back then, Royale High actually cared more about us and childrens' health.

This video explains my whole situation with Royale high. I started playing in 2017. Back then Royale high was all about the role playing and the dances at the school. Then game passes came out for newer hair colors and etc. I then bought the game pass for 80 robux. Not that bad right? Until more and more expensive game passes came out where it was hard to keep up as a 9 yr old with hobbies outside of Royale high. Flash forwards I was always so on and off with Royale high because I was bored of it or I had no time. When I logged into Roblox and saw Royale high, all the nostalgic feelings would come on me and I would feel so guilty if I did not play the game that I used to love. It’s a never ending loop. I’m way older now and I still feel like I have to play this game to prove to myself somehow some way this game had gotten better. The amount of money and time I spent on this game takes a toll on my mental health. It’s like I put so much effort and time into this game and it gets me nowhere. It only gives me a little bit of dopamine every time I level up; but it also gives me very bad headaches because of how much time I spend. It has ruined my life completely. I wish I could go back to when I was 9 again and socialize with more of my family. To build better relationships. That’s what really matters. I can then actually appreciate those moments in life and get something good out of it. Instead, I took the route that thousands had took. Now we are all sitting here. In our rooms. In the dark. Alone. Wondering- What happened?…

I have never seen a more relatable video ever. I’ve been playing royale high for YEARS. I remember when it was just enchantix high. The game had become a literal coping mechanism for me after a few events in my life. I’ve literally prioritized the game than more important things. And it makes me feel awful. I’m too scared to tell people this because of judgment and just being brushed off. My family knows that I like the game. But they don’t know the true extent to it. I always play the game for hours, then I get burnt out. I come back and do it all over again. I feel stupid for dumping this all in a KZread comment. But I guess I’m just happy that there are more people who actually relate to me or have a similar experience than I thought. Even if it’s about a silly princess game.

I've been repeating this sentiment a lot but royale and the developers do not care. In the new school, roleplaying is nearly impossible unless you've already friended someone. The one place you possibly could (the dorms) is outrageously expensive, and the fact that your currently-used items can't be accessed between save slots is a testament to the player unfriendliness. They haven't even added the roomate feature yet! It's also such a consumerist nightmare, *you need more because others have more, you need more because if you don't buy it now you'll have to wait later, you need more because it could go in high demand soon, you need more because buying stuff is the only form on content there is.* Roleplaying, the one thing you could do *for free* and be long lasting has been shoved into a corner and nearly stomped out. If the royale high devs cared they would have incentivized this, they would have made things less expensive, they would have listened to the players and what they wanted. A gross instance of them not caring is them removing the 'kimono' part of the Cherry blossom Kimono set and keeping it on sale for spring. Wow! What a way to go

Im thinking I would just finally be able to do more roleplays because then I can make my outfit exactly how I want it to be but honestly my friends arent big Royale high players so I dont know if I would be able to roleplay often. Royale high, as corny as it sounds, makes me feel the exact same way I do at work. I do all this stuff, I put all this effort, and for what? Because I’m already too invested? Because if I’ve gotten this far then it would be a waist to give it up right? Why should a GAME for CHILDREN make me feel the same way I would at a dead end fast food job that is built on the guilt you have for leaving behind the community you earned working there? Why should playing a children’s game make me feel obligated to keep going, just because I’ve already gotten so far? Where are the ethics and morals in this? Why is this such a common game tactic? Where do developers learn these phycological control tactics?

It's kind of something that manipulative companies just figure out as it's pretty obvious design if you want to print money and don't care about morals. Barbie and Launce are millionaires living a lavish lifestyle and they want to keep it that way, so RH is going to long continue this path and not change. There are no ethics and morals. It is manipulative, just like it was manipulative years and years ago. The awful bigotry from the owners and other developers kind of indicate that they don't really care about what's right, either. RH does not deserve forgiveness, though. They have many opportunities to correct their mistakes, and have rejected them every time. They shouldn't be asked to fix things; it's about time people quit. Hard quit. Don't go back to it. Not once ever. To scratch the same itch, try other games of a similar genre on Roblox. They have the benefit of actually understanding basic game design, so you'll probably get hooked on them but in a way that feels fair, not in a way that feels like it's siphoning your soul away. Instead of grinding hours for one cheap and simple item like in RH, you can play casually for maybe like 15 minutes and get something nice. And that's not even mentioning that most other dress-up games actually give you a TON of stuff to start with for FREE. They actually respect you as a player and respect your time. When you realize RH has been giving you the absolute worst experience out of the options and you try out other things, it's much easier to switch. But if it's still tough quitting regardless, it may be worth reminding yourself that no game on Roblox will last forever, and one day the time you spent on the game will be unusable, and that's just how live service games work, even outside of Roblox. There are also options to use website extensions to make various changes to discourage yourself from playing RH, such as CSS editing out the play button for RH's page or using RoSeal to block the experience. Doing general research on tips on working yourself out of the sunk cost fallacy is also something that I've seen help some former RH players.

You want to stop, but you can't, you spend all your money and time on it, you stay and keep on playing/using it even though it's toxic (the devs in general), you loose interest, and at the end, your health, time and money is lower. When you get everything, or the thing, you are happy. But what is there else to achieve? You got it. Hooray. But at the end of the day, its not healthy for you. I used to be addicted to the trading system, getting online every morning to go to the trading hub. Just to then feel empty after. I still play Royale High, but I've tried to branch out to other games on Roblox. (flee the facility, dress to impress, bloxburg, survival games, etc!) Things have been better, but I still play Royale High from time to time. Even though I know I'll eventually have to lose touch with the game.. Thank you for speaking up on this topic! I hope this video gets out to more people who feel the same.

You have literallly described my life. I've quit many times but I've realized that this game isn't roleplay like i thought it would be. its just leveling up and leveling up. I don't think it's fun anymore. Like you have to be level 75+ to go to trading hub and 500+ to be a beta tester. Even the teachers lounge 1500+ levels is crazy.

In all honesty, I have the same experience, I often would starve myself at school just to have enough money to buy robux or rh diamonds. it's honestly so draining for me because it affected my own health and how I've been acting. I used to play this game around 2018, (I still sadly do but it's getting lesser now) and I still tend to play the game. I changed games and started playing Bloxburg, Wuthering Waves, or some other game because I spent more money on rh than what I remember. It honestly sucks how I read every update about this game in Twitter, it wasn't how it was like it used to. every time I play that game, I always say "I hate it" to remind myself that there are other games I can play. It changed, it wasn't as user friendly as it was long ago, it makes my heart hurt when I try to let go of it but I always end up thinking of how much money I spend and if I was really going to let the money go to waste. Right now, I'm on summer vacation, and I don't get my allowance, I'm happy that I'm slowly getting detached to the game.

I stopped playing Royale high after I got quite bored. Bored of how I was spending hours and hours on the game just grinding for diamonds. Bored of how I threw away days of my life to see stars jump out of the exp box when I level up. Bored of how i had to wait so long for any updates. But what was I doing all of this for? Well, it’s not like we have anything useful to do in Royale high. So, I completely agree with your video!! Let’s make a pros and cons list on Royale high cuz I’m *bored* Pros: - fun…..? - pretty - can teach us about trading values 😭 Cons: - time consuming - gets us nowhere - turns us into rude players - makes us broke - bad for our minds - our minds are forced into thinking Royale high is FUN, Royale high is ENGAGING. But it’s not, we have just been playing it for so long that now we don’t want to stop. Our progress must continue.

This is so true. I started playing royale high in 2018 with my cousin, she quit the game after she gave up on grinding to buy a halo that she wanted. I wasted lots and lots of dollars in this game just to come back months after months and do NOTHING. The only think I try to cope to think it's fun is to sell everything I have and buy everything back. RP? What is that? Playing in the schools? What is that? The only thing most of the people that play royale high know is how to grind and how to be rude, idiotic and egocentric in the trading hub

It's really sad how a lot of players feel like this. (Im one of those players 🐱) except, i have never spent a money in this game, and i can confirm it is literally a nightmare to farm for diamonds without any gamepasses. sure the daily login exists, but once you lose that streak, you lose your motivation. thats what happened to me, and now i cant really keep up with the new sets and items ☹️

i played in 2017 and stopped around when the sunset island came out. I'd roleplay in the campuses, write in my diary, etc. I come back now and there's way too much going on. You have to build your dorm from scratch which will take hundreds of thousands of diamonds, and it respawns you to a different server everytime you go to another room in the new campus. The playerbase shifted too no one wants to have fun and troll around. I wore my mermaid tail and was trolling in the second campus and people genuinely got mad at me, they'd rather just pretend to be afk or make fun of people with less diamonds with no fancy avatars referring them to "dark fairies from 2018" lmao. Also the fountain is always giving me nothing or negative diamonds :(

Phenomenal video. It perfectly captures the experience and the fatigue when there’s nothing left of substance for the game. The game used to be so much fun, with lots of roleplaying, interesting locations to visit, etc but now it’s just a grindfest. I no longer by Roblox but I’m so sad about what Royale High has become. They clearly do not care about us, just our money, and that’s tragic…Great video and you earned the like.

As an OG player of Royale high (been playing since April of 2018) I could not agree more, I definitely invested at least a solid 45$ in that game (over time not all at once) I’m on there A LOT even when I’m bored out of my mind, at first I didn’t mind grinding at times, I figured why not but it gets very boring, I definitely miss the roleplaying aspects and I’m very grateful for the online friends I’ve made who are willing to Roleplay, I love creating OCs and diving into our lore fantasies but snapping back into reality definitely makes me feel sad.. there’s been times where we’ve stayed up til 5-6 in the morning roleplaying and as fun as those days are it makes you realize how miserable reality can be, often feeling guilty over loosing sleep. For anyone reading this comment I just wanna say you’re not alone. Try to focus less on the money and more about the connections you make with people around the world, that’s the beauty of Royale High I grew up to love. ❤️

I remember last year, when the school was announced to come out in August, I spent a big portion of my time trying to grind to get ready for the school to come out. Once it did come out, I was super disappointed and realized I wasted my time for nothing. I started high school the same month, so I stopped playing Royale high for a while bc of school. I come back every once in a while, and nothing changes.

A lot of times, on campus two, there’s a roleplay you can join. That’s what I do. After you find good people, you can friend them and rejoin later, and do a different roleplay. it’s like a roleplay group, and as you do it in more and more servers, more and more people join your group. That’s how I have fun.

I have personally experienced the sunk cost fallacy with 2 games (Mariokart Tour and Fire Emblem Heroes) I still play those games because I genuinely like them but I deeply regret that I spent hundreds of dollars on digital currency that would run out anyway…. Also I’m mad of my 12 year old self for asking my family to “give me 10 dollars” because I wanted that shiny new character instead of not asking them for their OWN money that THEY made… I know that I will never make that mistake again but I am disappointed of myself for falling for those money tactics….

This video goes so deep into the true intentions of royale high and how horrifying it can be, i myself have spent hours on royale high making achievements, that of course make me feel amazing, when in reality i slowly started to drift away from reality being glued to my computer screen and losing my connection with god by spending more time on a game over him :(( Its hard (╥﹏╥) but on the bright side, theres still time to change, when your already at your lowest the only direction left is to go up isn't it? It can be hard to let things go, but for the sake of your well-being, make the better choice 🫶‼️‼️

Over covid, i had recently gotten into roblox. my friends were playing, so i played it too. i remember when i joined royale high. I was excited because all of the stuff looked so cool, but even then in 2020 the prices for sets were so expensive. i left the game, and didn’t return until a few months later. And then i got hooked. i could not stop playing, nonstop 6-8 hours a day with my friend, grinding and grinding at sunset island only to find out i could barely afford the cheapest best-looking skirt. 200 participation diamonds for a 15-20 minute long process of a fashion show as the main way to make money when all of the best items cost thousands of diamonds is just plain ridiculous. i was addicted to this game and getting diamonds. on a lucky streak, after playing for hardly a few weeks, i got a halo. uneducated and young, i traded it for so many items, which i regret to this day. and then after all my hard work, i finally realized that it just wasn’t healthy. i was avoiding my homework, my family, getting exercise etc. So after about 2 years of playing, somewhat off and on for the last 6 months, i quit. i traded all of my items. it was just too much, the pressure was too hard and i was never going to be able to get the items i wanted. There’s no better way to say it: i was unmotivated, depressed, and disappointed. 6 months later, i came back to it with all of my items gone and having to start at rock bottom once again, and yep, i got hooked again. i was distressed and angry at myself because i had given away all my items- so i was fueled by the desire to get them back, but it led to another unhealthy addiction. and then it updated. I joined after the update, dazed at how much was going on. it was plainly cluttered, and distracting. i was so confused with the new quests, map, and school. I was upset it had changed because the royale high castle i grew up with was no longer. i had to look up tutorials as well, and it should never be that confusing for a child’s game on roblox. there were so many new updates it was so overwhelming to take it all in, and i was lost. But they hadn’t even finishing updating it, it hadn’t yet been updated to its full extent. I’m incredibly upset with the updates, the money-making scheme, and the game passes. no one role-plays anymore and the community is based on values of being rich in the game and having impressive items. I no longer play because of all of this. the money-miser aspect of the game and the incredibly complicated update have ruined the foundation of the game as a whole and it was a huge mistake on the creators part. it is with a heavy heart that i move on from rh :(

This video felt like a up call It’s really just whenever I’m bored, I log onto royale high. Logging onto royale high, there’s nothing to do, so I end up diving into the abyss of trading for days, weeks, months at a time. I want to quit and pursue other things with my time, but I end up just logging onto the game to see my avatar I worked so hard to make (both time spent getting the items & time spent dressing up). I really hope this time I can really start distancing myself from this game that I’ve spent hundreds and hundreds of hours into(not that it’s a bad thing- i genuinely did enjoy half the time spent). It’s just that no matter how much I farm, how much I profit trade, how many halos I own, my greed for more is really never satisfied. The scariest part is, even after I do play less, what do I even do with the newfound time…

Royale high was my childhood, ive been playing for about 6 years. It sucks how grindy the game has become, and im saying this as someone who used to love the grind, it used to be fun. But after the new school announcement everything started to fall apart and it truly makes me sad to see the current state of the game. Royale high used to be a roleplaying game, a simple roleplaying game where you didnt need to be rich or be invested, sure you could but everyone was welcome to join in, it made the game fun, it was fun to get rich, to stand out, and to just have silly roleplays. Now its all about the grind, its no longer fun its just stressfull because if you want to catch up with the rest you have to dedicate your life to the game, and theres no endgoal. What made royale high into royale high was the roleplay aspect, the community, the devs, the simplicity of it, the steriotypical stupid roleplays with fucking jake. The general goofing around. Its just so souless now, and I wish it wasnt because I love the game so fucking much but I just cant play it anymore

I used to olay Royale High soo much 2018 times when there was only the classic castle and it was soo fun, I even downloaded roblox for first time ever just to play royale high lol. Then the new castle came with a map, wheel came, apartments, fountain parks smth, etc etc all that came i was still enjoying but i stopped somewhere in 2020 because firstly it was fricking hard to level up because i had no game passes, no robux i would spend hours and hours also each item would cost minimum 60-80k diamonds?? Like its really sickening how you earn so less diamonds yet the prices are unreasonably high, making you wanna play more and more. I logged into rh recently just to see how much its changed, I kid you not I dont understand a single thing its so confusing I dont understand the map locations too because of how big it is and especially the lag!! But tbh i have really fun memories from playing rh back then and im glad i did :) i miss those times

GUYS HERS MY STORY i hope it helps you choose the right path.... you can quit but you have to put a rock on heart and LOOSE ALL YOUR so called "PROGRESS" by giving away all your items i did that 2 and half years ago i was Insanely ADICTTED TO RH i had no multipliers but i put in TIME and too much of it i would play RH for 2 years 24/7 and got massively rich but one day when i got scamed a lil while trading i started going crazy sad in that moment just to console my self i thought what even is the use on these items irl why am i so sad over it i tried to get my stuff back by profit trading but it wasn't working then all of this lead me to the same thoughs as this video mainly wasting realife time for small dopamine hits in a game and for what at the END!? will i always keep pushing through these hunger games of rh to feel a sense of achivement . In fact I quit roblox as a whole:)

This video describes my exact experience playing Royale High, and honestly, it's very eyeopening. I've played Royale High on and off for years now, my most active period of playtime being during 2021. At that time, I was obsessed with grinding and eventually decided to buy every gamepass, even if they didn't assist me in my mission to grind levels and diamonds. Truthfully, I didn't get very far with this because unlike now, grinding for hours on end didn't get you all too much (at least for me). But this was okay at the time because I feel like the items were less expensive, although definitely not cheap. You still had to grind really hard for each holiday and season if you wanted to get any limited sets. Keep in mind my memory is quite bad when it comes to this, because I didn't pay too much attention and was quite disconnected from life at this time, so my recollections are likely inaccurate. Now I took a long break from Royale High a while after this, losing my streak and rarely playing the game or Roblox in general. Then, during the school year of 2023, I decided to start playing again. While I was away the game had taken on a completely new look, the new school I had been eagerly awaiting had finally come out. I was quite mesmerized and decided I would try my best to adjust to this new game, doing my dailies and participating in the Glitterfrost event. I actually enjoyed this new Royale High, at least in the grinding sense. I found it much easier to level up and earn diamonds, which was something to celebrate about the new update. But then, in February, I got banned for a day on Roblox. It was only a one-day ban for something stupid I said, but it was enough time for me lose my long-held login streak. I was very much upset, and was discouraged from playing the game altogether. This was the first thing that opened my eyes to the sunk-cost fallacy before I even had the words for it. So after years of playing Royale High I finally decided to call it quits. The game had gone from something silly and whimsical to some sort of grindfest to look pretty and have an "aesthetic" dorm room. Don't even get me started on the dorm rooms, ha. But I am also grateful for my decision, because I feel as though I would've continued wasting time and energy on this game had I not let my ban and loss of streak discourage me from playing it. And I feel as though it is also the domino that led to my overall quitting of games that the sunk-cost fallacy could apply to, and focusing on better games and activities overall. I recently said goodbye to Project Sekai, a game I've also played on and off, but since August of 2022. I also quit playing Everskies, which I played in January of 2023 and came back around December of the same year. The decision to quit all three of these games has been really good for my mental and physical health, and I recommend anyone else who is struggling with this do the same. I now focus my time on games that are either offline or don't utilize these scummy tactics, whether they are on Roblox or not. A game I actually enjoy that gives me a hell of a lot of dopamine is Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, which combines these two games with a story mode. Anyways yeah, thank you for making this video. I don't normally comment but really wanted to on this video in particular because of how important it is. Thank you for taking the time to read my yap session!

To be honest, this is so sad and cruel. I've been playing royale high for 5 years...and the devs totally ruined their game. People nowadays only care about halos, diamonds, sets..You can clearly see some realms (for example) archery, campus 1 and 2, earth and divinia being totally abandoned. 90% of the players are in the trading hub or farming just to feel superior, rich or pretty. Royale high farming system is totally messed up, even for me, an og player, I find difficult and stressful farming. All of that amount of time for just 15k..? It's true that they added the ''story mode'' and new elements, but that doesn't compare of the true dark fairy roleplays I had back into 2019. Apart from the devs, royale high community is kind of messed up (not all people tho) today in 2024, trying to make friends in royale high it's IMPOSSIBLE. I used to socialize in archery and campus, but everyone is sooo focused in gaining diamonds that it's so complicated meeting new friends. Today I tried to join archery, thinking if maybe I could play some rounds to feel the nostalgia, when I joined, there was no one, it was the only server of archery, totally empty. Mostly of the og royale high roleplayers are moving into another games. Included myself. I just hope that royale high listens to the community PLEASE and fix their issues. Oh and also, you can see that the updates of the game are becoming more and more lazy. If I remember well, back on 2022-2023 we had BARELY updates. And still, I was so addicted to royale high. Now, I sometimes join to see the new updates, but they're so disappointing. By this time the complete campus will be finished in 2026 tbh. Is really rh a passion project for Barbie? She ruined her own game...

something I feel has killed the roleplay aspect is addition of trading and more and more seasonal sets. you used to be able to just have fun roleplaying in RH and making a good outfit for free. if you wanted skirts or wings or mermaid tails, you could just buy some with around 100-2000 diamonds, which was so easy to get as a new player, you even got free accessories from the daily wheel. with the addition of sets, at first it was cool since it wasn’t anything fancy that you couldn’t get from the free 2d clothing options. but since then they’ve pumped out so many new sets every season, each set having more attention to detail in the clothing and anatomy, but becoming more expensive in diamonds up to the point where most players can’t even buy the most recent set, starlight at 230K diamonds. with the addition of trading, everybody is so desperate to just continue collecting every single set and halo just to make their avatar look good, because now the free clothing options in game are mediocre compared to what you can get in a modern day set. because everyone’s busy grinding for the next season’s set (and probably a dream halo), it’s completely killed the roleplay aspect of the game. it was never like this before, it’s depressing especially with such a young audience of children where everybody just wants to feel pretty in a fashion game like this one but it comes with a high cost

Unironically more entertaining than the actual game- It's so boring now. Like yea, grind for 10 days. Get a cute outfit, and then what? There's basically nothing fun to do in Royale High. You can argue dressing up is the fun part, but there's so many other games you can dress up in now.

omg, this video PERFECTLY explained my problem with royale high. it is completely unethical now, just like you said. I started playing it when I was a really young kid when it literally first came out. it was everything I wanted. a fun, cute game where I could pretend to be a fairy and have fun with other people. It was like this until the fancier sets came out, I think there was a one called dear dolly or something? and me and my friend GRINDED so hard to get those heels, cause they were so cute! and while i think this is when it started getting a bit less ethical, it was still acceptable in my eyes. they were only around 50k & I think it took my and my friend about 5 days to get them, only spending a couple of hours in the game each day. And it was all okay. Until the trading hub showed up. That’s what kickstarted the absolute greed of the game. And, if im going to be completely honest, it was the players that started this. Excessively pricing items so that they could get the most diamonds so they could buy the most stuff. Then the developers noticed that the players were OK with paying that much for the items, so they decided to actually price it as such. Then I started to fall out with the game, because it just wasn’t fun anymore. I had lost my old friend & they didn’t want to roleplay with me anymore, nobody else in the game was roleplaying because they were too focused on grinding & it just got so boring to me. No memories to be made. I had been waiting years for a new school with no release in sight, so I quit. Once the new school showed up, I was hopeful. I thought that ‘hey, maybe it will kick start the roleplaying again!’. So I decided to pick it up again. But sadly (luckily in hindsight), my device was way too old & laggy to keep up with the graphics. It was disappointing. Now I see though, the devs are just so greedy & have ruined what used to be a wholesome game. It’s sad seeing something that shaped so much of my childhood turn into something more like a gambling casino where you play for diamonds & pretty, fake dresses.

Even prior to the introduction of sets it wasn't that good either, but most people were too young to really understand how yucky things were back then. It is certainly worse now, but it was still pretty problematic even when Dear Dollie and such were brand-new. The indication that it took almost a day of total gameplay combined for one item as you've suggested is a huge red flag that the game's payout vs price scheme was awful and manipulative back then too. Most dress-up games then, and even now, will take you a maximum of an hour or two to get one really expensive item. And that same price could get you an entire set equivalent or two. On top of that they give you tons of free stuff to start with. Lots of people view the old days of RH with rose-colored glasses, sometimes by merit of being too young to recognize that, and therefore would never remember all the red flags that were around.

@@peri_archive I do think what you say is true. But back then, the dear dollie heels were the most expensive item in the game, and im sure there were ways to get them quicker back then, because I was a young kid & all I ever really did to try and get them was to enter pageants. now though, it would take you weeks or even MONTHS to try and save up for one item from a set & i guess that’s the kind of point i was trying to make. royale high also gave out free stuff back then, iirc. the wheel was still relatively new & there would be a lot of chests so you could get free items, but now it seems like they’ve started replacing that mechanic with ‘quests’ that you have to pay for. I don’t think royale high was extremely ethical even back then, but compared to some other games at the time (such as adopt me which is very pay to win) I thought it was at least somewhat more fair. But now it’s most definitely become one of the worst games on the platform.

This is so true, I begged my mom to get me this game. Once I got it, I was the happiest person alive! As royal high started getting more and more updates, I just felt like I didn't even know what to do anymore. You have to pay SO much money for just 1 set? Pay money to customize your diary? Pay even more money to color your name? I seriously wish I could go back in time

I had this issue once royale high released the new campus. It used to be a role play game you could go into a server and say “abc to role play!” And around 7 people would come up to you and role play with you but slowly the game became more of a grind in order to release myself from it I went into the trading hub and gave away everything. My items, my diamonds, everything. And now I am free

I was obsessed with playing rh from 2020 until 2023, i had a streak of 316 days but i lost it and it got me so upset that i just quit it lol and im glad i did ngl. I did spend a loooot of time playing rh, and i dont really regret it because i met so many amazing people who im still friends with to this day. Ive been in a trio for 4 years, those 2 people are my closest friends rn and i met them both in rh.

I've been playing Royal High since halloween of 2018 I wasnt really into it then but I started to get used to it, I lost an acc where i had a lot of items and I was so upset with all the hard work that was put into the account I was level 100+ and I had to stat over. Now sometimes I don't play Royal high as much as I used to I stared to play other games like Mm2, Bloxburg,TT3,Brookhaven, and so much more. I started to replace royal high with mm2.I used to love role playing in RH until it was just all about getting dims and working and working. The only reason why I stared to play was becuase I enjoyed making friends and roleplaying it was like making friends so easy , now it's just all about dims and getting to a point where you cant stop. The only enjoyable play in rh is Sunset where you get to dress up according to the theme, it was so much fun. I still so play it sometimes but things or other games get in the way of having fun. It was all fun and games unlit toxic players took the fun out of it and even trolls.

If you do want to roleplay, the developers are working on campus four, a roleplay focused campus. I do agree with you, this game is heavily focused on grinding.

"TO POOP ON THE TOILET WHILE LOOKING CUTE?" GOT ME CHACKLING LMAO but this video is very well made I never thought about royale high in that type of way or about the gaming industry. i haven't played royale high in SUCH a long time because it just got boring to me since its just the same thing over and over again. and for what? like you said.. TO HAVE CUTE OUTFITS I'm over all glad I quit royale high since all my reasons are what you said in the video. people are too toxic and its not fun like the earlier days with making friends and roleplaying. i have all the gamepasses so sometimes I get angry at myself for spending so much money. overall nice video it was very informative.

I miss the old rh sm :( especially halloween 2018 OMG the nostalgia... back then it was just a simple indie roblox game to roleplay and have fun. Now it's just a grinding simulator where all that matters is getting halos and becoming rich. I wish it wasnt so corporate. When I think of my old royale high memories, I almost cry every time :( Please improve the game!!!
