I think dark romance is best when the plot is dark, but the romance isnt

Truuu. Or the love interest can be kinda dark or bad but not crossing certain boundaries (like SA). Ngl, I like me a bad/grumpy/dangerous boy who treats his partner like a queen (or king).

the problem with dark romances is that theyre all horribly written by authors with absolutely no creativity. if they were better written id at least understand the appeal but theyre all so horribly written i cant understand how anyone finds them sexy

2:32 everything is sadly fucked here in USA but yeah medical costs are super fucked. Also if you want something extra fucked, Alabama now is considering frozen embryos to be children. 😳

As someone into kink esp CNC, I have been avoiding reading that Cat and Mouse duet but now... it's on KU so that's where I'm headed so I can once and for all be like, "YEAH SEE. THAT ONE PARTICULAR SCENE WITH A CERTAIN ITEM IS GARBAGE AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY Y'ALL FIND THIS LOVELY BECAUSE NOTHING ABOUT THIS IS RIGHT AND SHOULD HAVE YOU FEELING SEXY. THIS IS ACTUALLY WRONG. VERY VERY WRONG." Lord.

If we had a romance with an ancient god with five faces and eleven arms then this would be the conversation, but nah. If everyone is hyper attractive then it aint steven king

Dark fantasy is a bit more broad as a genre than that.

I love your videos and find you so hilarious! You should mention which products you're using because some of us (me, I'm some of us) are lipstick/gloss/stain/tint fanatics too. I love seeing what products others use. Keep up the good stuff.

"so you could be her. No, you couldn't be her, you're better than this" - I laughed way to hard about this. But really, dark romance has so much potential to be interesting, but instead it is just generic, sexist crap like this

Dark Romance can't be "romance" if there's a power imbalance between the two. That's my take on it. If the two leads are NOT equal, then it is NOT Dark Romance, it's Romanticised Abuse. Dark Romance should follow the same rules as BDSM. A lot of the turn-ons women have from Dark Romance is the same kind of thrill people who practise BDSM as a submissive get from handing the illusion of control over to the dom- but notably, the sub is still the one in control. The sub is still the one who says when enough is enough. I hope that makes sense? I really think we need to have a genuine divide between "Dark Romance" and "Romanticised Abuse". Books should come with clear warnings in the front that they depict domestic violence and frankly that choice on if it does or does not needs to be taken away from the author since many of them cannot tell the difference between the two. People also need editors specifically versed in how to write Dark Romance if that's truly what the author wants to go for who can correct the author and tell them "if you don't fix this, your book is not going to be classified as Dark Romance and I'm going to be forced to tell the publishers to market it as Romanticised Abuse (or whatever would be a suitable name for a genre like that)". Dark Romance is a dangerous genre when you get it wrong and instead write Romanticised Abuse. Even indie publishers have a responsibility I think to protecting readers.
