Honestly. At one point in time, I thought this was guy was just bitter and such. The more I have seen his interviews like this. I've become a fan. The guy tells the truth. The guy knows the business. It's too bad one of the other promotions haven't gave him a job behind the scenes. I think he has a lot to offer.

I think the "bitter" interviews might have been when he was stoned or drunk. He seems like a pretty decent guy here. In some of those other interviews, he's a total asshole.

No one in WWE office likes him because he isin't a "Yes" man and tells it like it is...you want to survive in WWE as an office guy you have to be an ass kisser like Michael Hayes or Bruce Pritchard

Not a yes man at all, but doesn’t come off as super assertive either. And I get that from his stories, not somebody burying him. His only bargaining chip seemed to be “fine, I’ll leave”

@@johansmallberries9874 Leaving, instead of letting a slimy promoter, bury your gimmick, while paying pennies, isn't a bad thing lmao It's smart actually....
htms character worked so well on-screen that people started to hate the man portraying him - now with the internet everyone realizes that htm is quite a decent guy
HTM was a great heel
Thank you very much ladies and gentlemen, you're a beautiful audience thank you!!
And just like that, a legend was born. 🎸🎤🎶
I was lucky enough to se Wayne at the start of his career in Memphis, the Blond Bombers vs Lawler and Dundee in Tupelo was replayed on Memphis tv for years. He already cemented his place in wrestling history years before his epic WWF run. Still the greatest Intercontinental champion of all time.
"YOU DON'T LIKE ME? AFTER ALL I DID FOR Y'ALL! I KISSED A LOT OF UGLY BABIES WITH PUKE ON THEIR MOUTHS!!!!" my friends and I were laughing our asses off after that vote of confidence turn speech. after that, seeing him at 3 shows in the next 2 years, he got the most boos out of anyone. on 2 occasions when hulk hogan was on the card, his boos were louder then hulk's or anyone else's cheers. I always enjoyed that! good to see him doing well and looking good!
I think that's a class way to do the turn ... bogus number, TV taping and Ventura tell him they hate you ... etc
Hated him as a babyface, loved him as a heel.

parking lot of the edmonton field-house.... you and dan Kroffat... ladder match...not sure who won.... I was a mark.. yelled at you in the parking lot... You pretended to run it me... stopped and said" fuck off kid"..... best ever mark moment of my life! thankyou!

Those were the days !!!
Htm seems alot more like the heel type. I think he could definitely still make it today. Give him one of those sessions like Carlito had when he debuted.
Honky was a great heel. His Elvis gimmick was awesome. He was perfect for the WWF cartoon gimmicks in the 80's.
Neat learning about the scene in Canada back in the glory days
Pretty intressting.very outspoken invidual:)
Love this guy! Yeaaaaah!!!
I remember the whole write to Stamford with either a Yay or Nay
rofl i remember the Jesse the Body thing
He didn't mention that the original story for Honky was that Hulk Hogan begged him to come "Back" to the WWF. Honky's promos incorporated this; then it was all abandoned when he debuted as a new guy with no Hogan connection.
His babyface days were bad in WWF not only because he was a natural heel, but because he had no finisher back then. The finisher was a flying fist off the top ropes, which was terrible. Thank goodness they came up with the "shake, rattle and roll" which was the perfect finisher for his gimmick!
Let me guess..... Someone is going to say "Ryback is legend!" Ha ha
Great story bro
Honky Tonk Man was a huge fan of singer George Jones.

Htm was a natural heel. Usually when you see a guy you can tell.
This is interesting. I figured that Vince envisioned a heel turn from Square One, when he first brought hockey talk man out. But this notion of Vince actually expecting it to play out, is just disturbing.

+Matt O'Brien 10-1 the boys in Kanasas City. Theres a story I heard from Jim Ross about back at a conference he was at, during a break he went to the men's room and was in a stall. Three of the main promotors came in and JR knew the voices, he lifted his legs up, and heard them talking about McMahon. They talked about that SOB , JR knew who they meant and one said "We oughta just kill the son of a bitch" I think if the promotors AWA, NWA, WCCW, Flordia, Georgia, CWA put aside their egos and differences they could have kicked the WWEs ass

+Cavillier1970 Vince used to always say that the only thing that the other promoters could agree upon at there meetings, was the time for lunch.
WHY HE LEAVE WWE IN THE PRIME OF HIS CAREER AND NEVER CAME BACK FOR HIS LAST RUN?

He still had some gas in the tank but I wouldn’t say he was still in his prime. He mentioned Vince pushing him into commentary, then that not working out because Roddy Piper talking over the top of him. After WWF, not sure why he never caught on in WCW...or maybe he did and I’m forgetting?

Of course Vince thinks in dollar amounts.

He was booed cause really that gimmick sucked. Remember he didn't have a Elvis character then, he wore some blue and purple stupid satin outfit.

The only gimmick I remember hating more than that (and the Red Rooster) was "the bully" Nick Busick. He didn't last long at all in the WWF and I remember reading afterwards in Pro Wrestling Illustrated that he was let go because he "didn't wrestle up to par". What exactly does that mean?
