HONG KONG Weekly VLOG: Seafood FEAST at Sai Kung, Eating SLIME & UNESCO Geopark East Dam Hike!
LOCATIONS FEATURED:
► nn cafe: G/F, 47 See Cheung St, Sai Kung
► Hong Kong UNESCO Geopark: East Dam
► Hung Kee Seafood Restaurant: 9-10, G/F, Siu Yat Building, Hoi Pong Square
► Lan Yuen Chee Koon: 318 Sai Yeung Choi St North, Prince Edward
I’m back with another Hong Kong vlog and today we’re heading towards the New Territories in Hong Kong. I’ve done a lot of city adventures and I’ve seen enough of shopping malls and busy streets, so today we’re going to Sai Kung town - a seaside town famous for it’s laid back style of living, fresh seafood and cafes.
We grabbed breakfast at Diamond Hill Hollywood Plaza before taking the bus to Sai Kung for cafe hopping. We got a taxi to take us to the High Island Reservoir East Dam. It’s a Hong Kong UNESCO Geopark. The reservoir has the most beautiful turquoise colour water I’ve ever seen. I didn’t believe I was still in Hong Kong! You can see the reservoir as you ride up to the East dam, where you see the vast sea on one side and the reservoir on the other. There’s also Long Ke Wan beach that’s just 20+ minutes hiking distance away, by following the Maclehose trail.
It was honestly too hot that day to make the hike with no water…So we went back to town for an early seafood feast for under $600 HKD. Sai Kung has a reputation for expensive seafood, but this dinner set for 2 was a bargain.

Love your dam and soup experience. Thanks for sharing. Not everyone creates drinks and food from concentrate, which is good. Real natural ingredients. And a unique and creative culinary experience. Meanwhile we're in winter here, lol.

I remember visiting Sai Kung a long, long time ago. Last century, in fact. Back then I had a delicious seafood dinner at another restaurant, whose name I cannot remember, but I recall that they were literally over the water. I still have fond memories of Sai Kung, and if an opportunity to revisit Sai Kung arises, I'll be sure to take it - now that I know how to get there using public transport!

Scampi? Scampi?! 😂 That's pissing shrimp. I'm guessing Aussies say it differently? In America they're called mantis shrimp. Loving the video. Those are pickled leeks as starters. They're supposed to "open your appetite" once you get acclimated to them, they're very very very addicting
@JaniceFung

Hahah I think I just got it wrong. Ooo I can see how those pickled leeks would ‘open your appetite’! Gotta eat a few more before I completely rule them out 😅

Hi Janice, how's the coffee quality in HK now? Last in HK 10 years ago & coffee was crap, Sai Kung seafood the best, never knew there was a Geopark in HK, amazing scenery:)
@JaniceFung

I still find coffee in Australia a lot better. There are definitely more options in Hong Kong now, but they are quite pricey.. typically twice the price of what they cost in Sydney
