Hong Kong is just brimming with great food, especially Cantonese food and it’s been years since my last visit so I’ve been pretty much enjoying different dishes every day!
My aunt took me to her personal favourite Peking Duck joint called King’s Delicacy in Causeway bay - they’re famous for their Peking duck, and other poultry dishes. I also tried a local famous spot for fish ball noodles. The Peking duck was delicious and the fish ball was some of the best I’ve had in a long time. (Not an exaggeration at all)
I also got some shopping done at the famous Golden Computer Centre which pretty much sells anything you can imagine related to tech.
My siblings have told me the weather back in Sydney is super cold and I’m looking forward to the drop in temperature once I get back after the sweltering heat in Hong Kong.
Locations featured:
King’s Delicacy - (Fashion Walk) 13-15 Cleveland street, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong
Lok Yuen Fishball Noodles - 21 Cameron Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
Golden Computer Centre - Right in front of Exit D2

Also when you get the chance with sticky rice dumplings, you should try the Nyonya Dumplings which is popular in Singapore. A little harder to get them in Melbourne or Sydney but if you come across, it is a must to try. Very different from the ones from Hong Kong and China.

Hey Janice! For peking duck pancakes in Sydney, go to a BBQ shop (Cabramatta) and then buy the whole roast duck! Ask them NOT to chop it. Then, go to an Asian grocery store to buy pancakes, fresh cucumber, shallots and hoisin sauce! Bob's your uncle! It's so much cheaper to eat it this way! P.S. I love how your mum is so generous with her energy and effort to ensure you eat yummy food! P.P.S. Those octopus cards bring back memories!

Golden Computer Center is my happy place. There is a 3rd floor but you need to go around the back of the building and there is some stairs up. There is another one in Mong Kok called Sim City. A little hard to find but worth it for cameras and some phone stuff. Always check the price and haggle. then there are a few in Wah Chai - 298 and 198 and the computer center near the MTR. I am sure I get the gweilo price at first but after some negotiations think I get a pretty good price.. You also need to visit 金華冰廳 (Kam Wah Cafe) on Butt Street Mong Kok for a pineapple bun. Worth a visit. I would say go to the floating Jumbo restaurant in Aberdeen, but it was towed away and has sunk in the South China Sea somewhere. very sad. Enjoy your time back in HK.

@@JaniceFung There is a website called 'Price' that allows you to check what other shops in HK are selling products for. There is also an app for your phone. For example the hard drive you brought you can check the price and use the app to haggle. Very useful as it has save me alot of time and money. Well worth getting the app.

HongKong’s food price is actually cheaper than lots of big cities in mainland China now, amazing

I think there's a pretty big variety - you can get really cheap eats at Cha Chaan Tengs and local yum cha places, but there are also restaurants that charge a lot more than what I'd expect for what it is

tbh it doesnt have a lot of taste itself but it takes on the flavour of whatever it's being cooked wth. it's got an interesting texture - a bit gelatinous and chewy
