Hong Kong Street Food - LEGENDARY Dai Pai Dong in Sham Shui Po!!! BEST Street Food in Hong Kong!

SNAKE SOUP in Hong Kong episode 1: • Hong Kong's BEST Stree...
Welcome to the second episode of our Hong Kong street food series. Today, we will be showing you some of the best and affordable street food and local, traditional food you can find in the Sham Shui Po area, a district that preserves the feel of Old Hong Kong - where the locals live!
To start our day, we have a traditional beef sandwich with a Hong Kong style milk tea (total 37 HKD / 4.71 USD). The beef was juicy and tender. No extra sauce needed! We explore the Sham Shui Po market for tons of shopping and locate a rare street food at a shop specializing in soy bean. We had fried tofu chunks stuffed with fish paste. It was awesome watching the chefs prepare the tofu. This snack was so delicious and CHEAP (15 HKD / 1.91 USD for 5 pieces). And of course, we washed it down with fresh soy milk (7 HKD / 0.89 USD). Continuing through the street food market, we came by a Cantonese classic dish - cheong fun! This stall was unique however because the shape of the cheong fun (10 HKD / 1.27 USD for small) was rolled into small bites like the Korean street food Tteokbokki. Such a great street food to enjoy in a small Hong Kong alleyway! To end the day, we eat at one of the most important street food restaurants in all of Hong Kong, at a dai pai dong. Dai pai dong’s are quite important because they are quickly disappearing off the streets and becoming modernized. There are only a few left that truly preserve the culture of Hong Kong and Oi Man Sang is one of the few! We had Hong Kong style clams, beef and rice street side! It all was mouthwatering and the chefs were cooking right on the street (298 HKD / 37.96 USD including beers).
Thanks for joining us on another INSANE street food adventure in Hong Kong! More street food to come very soon! Make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss any episode! Thanks for watching!

I was in Sham Shui Po Tai Nan Street just an hour ago. Its crazy hot today and packed with domestic helpers (Sunday holiday) shopping around the second hand market. Yesterday i had some chill Tsing Tao beer with claypot rice on Apliu street near C2 exit. Sunday is crazy packed, i'll be there in the evening for some beer. Yaaay !!!

@@justhappenedtowalkby3709 The temperature in Hong Kong has been kept rising for resent years, thanks to climate change. So, unless you are a beach guy, I won't recommend you to visit to Hong Kong from May to September. In the old days, April and May was definitely good for picnic and travel around in Hong Kong, not too hot, hot too humid. But now, it's melting hot in May..

No, it is a ritual and nothing to do with cleaning the dishes. It is just to sort of sterilise the utensils and cups and bowls. Very popular in Cantonese style eatery in Malaysia too.

they also do it in mainland china, apparently water is not clean so even though the dishes and chopsticks were pre-washed, it's customary to use hot water to sterilize them.

The hot water would not do much to kill off the germs (much less sterilize the dishes). I think sometimes it may be better just to leave the dishes and utensils alone, because pouring the hot water on them just stirs up whatever that's on the surface.

Come across your video today, weird KZread algorithm lol Anyways, I used to live in Sham Shui Po for nearly 10 years before I moved back to Canada. I born in HK then immigrated to Canada then back to HK to work for 10 years. Sham Shui Po definitely changed a lot since then! If I may, I would love to add some information of the food you had. 1)Sun Hang Yuen, their fresh beef scramble egg sandwich, both bread used to be not toasted. Secondly, their beef with scramble egg was double that size! Yes, double! The reason why their beef are tasty is because they have marinated it, it boosts the taste and favours in it. 2)公和 is more than 50 years old, all their products are freshly made each day and they maintain their quality very well throughout the years. You guys should have try the soya pudding (hot), that is one of the famous dish! The smoothness and melt-in-your-mouth texture is one of its kind, too bad you guys missed that... 3)合益泰 steam rice roll has two unique factors, first is their rice roll are freshly made in a factory every single day, the ratio of rice and water is in the perfect texture. Secondly, have you wonder why it tastes soooo good with the sauce? The secret is simple - they added lark (pig fat) with that peanut paste which add its aroma and smoothness into the overall texture. (Note that there is another kind of steam rice roll which is freshly made, that texture is completely different than this one you have) 4)愛文生 Dai Pai Dong I am glad you did not go to those at Women's market, I'm not saying they are bad but here at this one is where you can experience one of the best taste of dish and also the whole atmosphere along the street. Not much I could add to the food you have because there are way too many to mention, my only 'advice' would be any dish involve with that wok cooking lol That is the soul of Dai Pai Dong food, everything was 'forged' through fire. Peace out~ :D

Just FYI the Sun Hang Yuan place you guys went to is a new "branch" store of them and thus the renovation is new! The old place is still there (and very close in distance)!

I love the da pai dong. Great atmosphere. I want one in my backyard. Reminds me of another show where a guy was drinking beer in a back alley of Japan, where the tables were made 0f stacked milk crates. That really down to earth, free feeling, you can't beat it. Loved everything in this episode, as good as street food gets. Last episode's food was good but I think way overpriced for what you're getting.

Yeah we completely agree with you. In the last video, we filmed in Central and Temple Street Night Market so a bit more expensive. Sham Shui Po we found was GREAT for prices and the food was delicious! Thank you so much for watching!

I was at the same cheong fun store last year. It was excellent and your review was genuine. The only problem was the store was so busy and we had to eat standing on the street.

Love to try the food and drinks at the dai pai dong but that clam with the deluxe fried rice has got to be the best. I would prefer to bring my own chopsticks instead.

Amazing! You can use chopiticks quite well! Even some Chinese/eastern Asian cannot use chopsticks as well as you.
