Hong Kong - Day 3: Sampan Excursion to Lamma Island

Today we had organised a Sampan boat to pick us up from the pier at Mui Wo and take us across Silvermine Bay to Lamma Island.
Lamma Island is the third largest island of Hong Kong, with an area of 13.55 km2 and a length of 7 kilometres.
In contrast to Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, Lamma is peaceful and tranquil with an abundance of natural scenery. Buildings higher than three storeys are prohibited and there are no automobiles but diminutive fire trucks and ambulances, as well as village vehicles; distinctive open-back vehicles to transport construction materials. The community's only means of transport is either by foot or bicycle. Lamma provides an alternative to the hectic life in the city. Property and rents are cheap compared with those of central Hong Kong. These factors have attracted a significant expatriate community to Lamma Island. It is also popular with younger people and a haven for artists and musicians.
We ate Dim Sum (or Yum Cha as we also drank Tea) at Yung Shue Wan Village on the Northern end of the Island. We drank some local beers as we walked along the Lamma Island Family Walk to Hung Shing Yeh Beach for some cocktails. It was a very relaxing day and the Sampan was a lot of fun.

That dim sum/yum cha, looks delicious😋 BTW - Fish Skin tastes like crisps, goes great with a beer 💪 no fishy taste either.

Yes, we ate Dim Sum as often as we could. So good. We didn't try the Fish Skin. next time maybe. We had a Hong Kong Bastard beer on Lamma Island. The local craft beers are really good.

I haven't been to Lamma Island over 20 years, although I am a Hongkonger. Mui Wo also, very long time no go.
