    In this case it seem to be insane nitpicking. If you would use it for dogfighting but all dogfighting planes I know uses joysticks for a reason. I imagine most real aircraft have a deadzone in the center. It may actually be preferred as to not cause unwanted interaction.

    @@polpox12 Not in most GA aircraft. I'm not too sure about aircraft with a fly by wire system but on the Cessna 172, the yoke interfaces directly with the control surfaces so a deadzone is impossible.

    Yesterday a person from Honeycomb recently posted on their Facebook page that the reason some yokes have a deadzone, and some do not, is that some of the early production units were calibrated incorrectly at the factory, giving them a deadzone they should not have. My yoke from the original preorder has a 5mm deadzone in elevator, and a 9° deadzone in aileron (5% of total rotation!). Also, I have found out that the yoke has a built-in "hidden" calibration routine that can be invoked to recalibrate with no deadzone at all - but those that have been told this procedure have been instructed to not make it public, as they are concerned a user could screw up their yoke even worse.

    I got mine now some weeks ago. You can recalibrate it to remove the deadzone if there is any. I don´t have any deadzone at all and didnt have to recablibrate. One thing that can happen for me though is that cable that goes in between when it get perpendicular it create such resistance so I have to push that coil before the yoke moves. And thus there is kind of a deadzone pushing it! If I hold the cable out no deadzone. I will work it so the telephone cord is not to tight that should fix it. I only notice it in diview though in application its a complete non issue. It´s very responsive.

    In a real C172 the trims on the yoke are for the auto-pilot (if it has one), the big wheel on the dashboard is the mechanical trim for the elevator. That's the one that you would use for manual flying.

    Talking about rudders, you might wanna have a look at the MFG Crosswinds. Much less expensive than the thrustmaster and just as good, even if the action is not the same (it's more akin to a Me109 rudder than your usual pendular ones). Plus MFG is a tiny company, so the exposure can't hurt him.

  • @lewiswhite8913

    when i set mine up it had a pretty nasty deadzone due to rough calibration in the factory. there is a secret procedure to access the factory calibration mode, during which you have to set a zero point after turning it both left and right. any difference in these values programs the firmware deadzone. i used a pool cue on the floor to return mine to exactly the same point for both zero points and the deadzone is completely and totally gone, to the point where i can have 3 different position values in the resting position. if this causes trim issues i'll just iron them out with a software deadzone in the sim. couldn't be happier now

    Have you tried this? Found it on their website regarding the deadzone: "How do I fix the "deadzones" with my yoke? If you are experiencing "deadzones" with your yoke, then this is most likely a software issue. Make sure you have the latest drivers for the simulation you are using. You can find them here. You should also make sure that you download the simulations latest update as well. If you are using any simulation through Steam, there's a setting within Steam that may cause your "deadzone". To disable this: Open your Steam application At the menu bar, follow this path: Menu > Steam > Settings Click on 'General Controller Settings' Uncheck the box where it says "Generic Gamepad Configuration Support""

    It's not really a deadzone in a real plane more just mechanical inertia and play before a controll surfice moves from your input. ( Or from external forces) The pressure of wind and Wight of the controll surfices fundimentaly change the dynamics of using a real yolk and can only.really be emulated with a FFB yolk. Non ffb devices should not have deadzones as it just gets in the way of precise input. Real plane I flew felt like totall crap in the yolk but due to g-forces and forces in the yolk it was 100x more precise than any non ffb joystick I have used 🤣

    I highly doubt that for 239 quid it has a dead zone but also has “Aerospace grade internal components”.... I’ll have to ask some pilots if fly by wire has a dead zone. Maybe it does, I’ve never flown a plane.

    Hello, have you actually flown a real airplane? Unless you fly a flight by wire airplane with a sidestick ( airbus, falcon 7x, gulfstream 500)... you will have an actual deadzone in flight controls. So that means that the control is realistic, and maybe that deadzone characteristic was part of the built design.

  • @GamerMuscleVideos

    @GamerMuscleVideos

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yes I have , and you have g-forces in a real plane so controls can be utter shit and still feel fine. Deadzone is not a good thing to have in an input device , if a player wanted a deadzone they can add it in the games software.

  • @Griphos

    Actually, a slight dead zone in roll axis isn't a big deal, and in an actual small GA plane depending on speed, there is a similar effect where slight roll axis inputs don't create a noticeable change in flight attitude (although, of course, there is a change to aileron deflection). You will typically be putting in much larger roll axis inputs at all times than pitch axis inputs. I don't have the Honeycomb yoke, but I wouldn't be put off from getting one because of the slight roll axis deadzone you show. Pitch sensitivity is much more important. The kind of fine adjustment necessary that you describe is far more often utilized in pitch movement, particularly when landing. And this yoke seems to have good tension for feel and no detent for smooth operation, and that's FAR more important compared to the kind of inexpensive flight sim yokes we've had up to this point.

    How's the elevator control on one hand? No one uses two hands on a yoke. Esp in landing and take off. Wouldn't mind trying one, but I have a scratch built PFC yoke to compare it to. And Saitek's pro flight yoke is garbage in comparison. If there's any kind of jerk when you're pulling or pushing down (granted, you trim the difference up real quick, but...).. No thanks. (with the slightest touch) Just in hardware, who cares about software if it doesn't even feel right. (I might have flown a plane or two) I've never never put two hands on a yoke in a real plane is all. Just saw the throttles and kind of want. A lot. (maybe upgrade, wondering how they are)
