Honey Bee viruses are a big problem to honey bee health. But Honey bees are also tough against them. Seems a contradiction?
I got a question from a fellow beekeeper and I decided to answer with a video.
Varroa mite jump from Apis ceranae to Apis mellifera was a game changer for virus infection in honey bees. The video explains why.
Let me know your thoughts leaving your comment/question in the description below.
I hope you enjoy it.
Cheers.

Aloha from Hawaii, where honeybees could just Surf all the winter waves, but don't. Instead, since no one told them that winter doesn't come to the Plant-life and trees of Hawaii, they just keep working 'year-round'. Sometimes, they build these Towers of Honey', where the nectar flows are really strong and the urge to 'not swarm' is reinforced by the winter solstice. These bees instead sit tight and thinking winter is coming, need to put their honey-stores someplace and figure out the better solution is to not crowd the queen and brood comb and they build above the brood, as in this colony, they placed 400 pounds of honey on top of the woodpile that the queen and brood were in at its bottom. The dirt was sealed with a 1/4 inch thick layer of propolis to keep things clean and manageable for housekeeping. [Whatever goods wrong when you don't have a 4-year-old running around to fix it so you can post a picture, always seems to happen, sorry the picture is at other sites here on F/B. It wouldn't post for me.] Anyway, this was a friendly batch of wild bees. Industrious, too. The Honey tower above the brood, on top of the woodpile, was: 6 1/2 feet long by 4 1/2 feet tall by no less than 1 1/2 feet thick and was 400 pounds of fresh Kiawe honey and made from 10 pounds of bees wax[itself made from 400 pounds of nectar, than into honey and finally into Beeswax.] [if anyone has a spare 4-year-old hanging around, have them help me post the picture for you all to see and Bee Blown Away.

hi i am new to bee keeping. I live on a small island in the Caribbean. I took the crouse on bee keeping it was good but when i got my hive they were not well at first. Their where hungry had almost no food. So to boost them up i was going to follow what they thought us. By giving them sugar syrup. Instead i mixed it up with some herbs for healing and it made them stronger. Should I just look at the bees and learn from them.

Hello Neil, Initiating in beekeeping can be overwhelming. There are a lot of things that you need to be taking care of simultaneously and my advice is to get some good books and get help with your local beekeeping club. You can learn a lot watching the bees but you need help at the beginning to understand the basics to keep them alive. I hope it helps. Cheers.

Unfortunately there is no medicine right now. Try to keep Varroa mite under control is a good starting point.

@@InsideTheHiveTV Actually, now there is. Here is an excerpt from the U.S. Library of Medicine on honey's ability to kill viruses, including the current virus as well as control the body's reaction to the virus. Here is one excerpt from their article which is much more detailed and describes tests that have been conducted on this: "Therefore, it is hypothesized that honey might be beneficial for SARS-CoV-2 infected patients through several major mechanisms such as direct virucidal properties, regulating/boosting host immune signaling pathways, and curing and/or improving comorbid conditions (Figures 1 and and2).2). Besides, based on the previous results of several studies, honey may act as a preventive agent against hyper-inflammation caused by SARS-CoV-2."
