I thought the moment between Drax and Mantis when Drax talks about his family was really good. Because Mantis touches him to feel what he feels. When she does, she is overcome with pain and sorrow and starts to bawl but Drax just sits calmly. I think it shows how stoic Drax is about his sadness, since we see him smiling and laughing throughout the movie. Now we know that even though he is loves the Guardians, he still feels an immense amount of grief for his old family. I hope this comes to play when he meets Thanos in Infinity War.

Exactly. Thats why I think this succeeds where some other Marvel movies don't as much. This is an actual comedy, whereas a lot of other Marvel movies are like action movies trying to be comedies. Thor Ragnorok was the worst example for me. I couldn't enjoy it as an action movie because it was trying so hard to be a comedy. I don't think the Honest Trailer guy understands that this movie is actually a comedy.

It just becomes a stand up routine and the jokes seemed forced in there. you need jokes based on the story too. Also all the jokes in the movie seemed like punchlines without actually the important first parts of joke. you also need balance the jokes with other kinds of storytelling and emotions.

GG2 was the MCU's best to date. Continued where the first left off, honored its characters' development without flattening them, managed to foster an emotional connection with its characters that wasn't (as much) about franchise furtherance, and got toddlers right with baby Groot. Great film. Easily my favorite MCU entry.

They can't, its the Marvel formula. DC has found its success being Dark. Batman, Batman Returns & The Dark Knight are what made DC films the way they are. Only Superman & Superman 2 were the light films that worked. Batman Forever was probably the best version of what Batman would look like "had" Marvel made the film. Batman & Robin is what it looks like if Marvel "did" make the film. Green Lantern too aka Doctor Strange

Most Marvel characters by nature are light hearted, so it's kind of accurate, the characters make jokes, even in more serious situations, though Batman should be the only dark and brooding character in DC. I hope Justice League improves upon this, it looks like it will.

I agree with the people above on why Ego did that even though it was a bad idea. But it was incredibly well done. He was completely into the mind control, heard what he said, and basically went "oh. f*k no." with the perfect amount of buildup as he confirmed what he heard. There was a line crossed, and we felt it.

I don't think so. When I watched the film in the theater, and the characters laughed excessively, I laughed too. But then I watched the film on my own some time later and the jokes accompanying the laughs didn't feel very fresh.

Peggy Carter's death really got me. I think it's because out of all the character deaths so far she was a character that was with us the longest on screen---referring to the two seasons of Agent Carter.

It's kind of a toss up. Coulson fake-died prior to his show, having only had brief cameos in IM 1 & 2 and a slightly bigger role in Thor. Peggy real-died also prior to her show but was a main character in First Avenger (whereas Coulson was more of a secondary antagonist in the films he was in, since Shield spent a lot of time playing a nuisance to Tony and Thor in IM 2 & Thor, respectively) So Coulson had breadth over First Phase where Peggy had depth in First Avenger.

@@whoknows7968 Shield sent their best spy to infiltrate Stark Industries and report on Tony without his knowledge for the better part of the film. Coulson also threatened Tony with "If you try to escape, or play any sort of games with me, I will taze you and watch Supernanny while you drool into the carpet." They're not bad guys and they do help Tony by temporarily reducing the effects of his poisoning, but both helping Tony and going behind his back to spy on him are done because they have their own goals and motivations which don't always align with his.

Arceus Lord of Creation I honestly hope he survived only because in the comics he gets cyborg upgrades and changes his name to "Overkill" and I just want one scene with Rocket rolling on the floor in laughter over it.

You have been too cinical this time. This film has HEART. The first thing I did after watching this movie was calling my dad and say him "I love you dad" for the first time. Everyone with any kind of difficult relationship with their family can rely at list one one or two arcs of this film. Under the laugh it has so many layers that they woldn't be digestfull in a more serious movie. There's a lot of videos on youtube explaining how this film touch them sensitively and why. It seems that you were just hungry for more MCU continuity, but I think it was a bold move make this film his own thing expanding themes of the first movie without having to sell his soul to the continuity like many other marvel sequels.

Uhm. So the abusive parent who threatened to kill and eat his son, and was forgiven without much reason, inspired you to be closer to your own father? Weird. And it's sad, because if that didn't happen I would have been ready to love this movie, but Yondu's forced redemption left such a sour taste in my mouth that I couldn't enjoy it anymore.

I found this movie very enjoyable, it focused a lot on character emotion and development, which is unique for super hero movies that tend to skim over that for the most part.

Except all the character development had already been done in the first one and they literally just rehashed them for 2 hours. Mix with pretty visuals, an insanely stupid twist, awkward jokes and an absurd villain, you got GOTG: Volume Two.

Samuelito G that is not entirely true, the characters were introduced in the first one and we had a pretty basic look at who they were, and that works perfectly fine with that movie, but this one has more insight to each of them, even nebula and yondu who were thrown in the background in the last one get to shine here, it has some heartfell moments, and even tho they did use too meny jokes and some of them where forced, it was a movie that did it's job and got us to care about every single one of the characters

I think that the excessive laughter was a part of the joke. At least sometimes. Also, Yondu was my favorite character in this movie purely because his flying laser dagger is a really cool weapon compared to the stuff everyone else used. He and Rocket also had some pretty good moments together.

How about a supercut of every time Star-Lord & other characters mention Earth in any way in GotG1&2, but then culminating with the IW line, "I'm not from 'Earth', I'm from ~Missouri!" which still seems so out of place LOL..

Come on man, “Ego the Loving Planet” was right there!

I couldn't be more happy about the super hero movies this year. I mean look at them there all amazing, GOTG vol. 2, Lego batman, wonder women, Spider-Man homecoming, and LOGAN I mean come on there haven't been a bad one all year and there's still Thor 3 and THE JUSTICE LEAGE. I like that Drax is more positive now that Ronan is dead. And being literal and verbally open about things was also something he did in the first film. And Yondu's behavior in this one was also subtly hinted at in the first one.

Since "Spider-Man: Homecomming" is set in 2020 and he is also in "Infinity War" and GotG2 is still set in 2014/15, Groot will be back to his usual size by then. :)

You can't deny it's one of the best sequels of 2017 so far (John Wick 2 is on that list so hold your complaints john wick fans) though depending on how Thor Ragnarok does that may change.

Megaproductions302 John Wick 1 is still superior than chapter 2. Chapter 2 felt like a third person shooter with constant henchmen coming from every corner and they made John feel invincible.

When the movie is so much fun, the honest trailers is making you want to rewatch again.. 😁😁 my favourite Marvel movie!

I'd be slightly worried if you forgot everything that happened in a movie you saw the other day... As this honest trailer mentions, it's an okay movie, better than most Marvel part two's, but nothing major. The first GOTG was a huge success because it was very well executed in its genre. GOTG2 is almost a caricature of it. They're trying too hard with some jokes and characters.

You realize Baby Groot is actually original Groot's son. Not Groot revived. The Groot from GOTG is dead...

Not really, there could be a case made for him to be the old Groots clone, seeing how it was not a seed, but a body part regrowing. (He is a plant after all.) And even that depends on the interpretation, in the comics he had to regrow several times from a part, and the end result always had the same personality.

That's not how any of this works. Groot regenerates, whole and complete, from a piece of himself. So has it been. So shall it ever be.

@@notahotshot I am not a fan of Marvel I saw these movies cuz I like James Gunn. Can't really stand Marvel bro, love the amazing Spider-Man comics but not really into Marvel. Dark Horse, Image, some DC, and favorite are TMNT all mediums all renditions I'll watch/read even if I think it sucks. But Marvel na bro so like I said I only know what the creator of the film said not the creators of the characters themselves. But I can be a little nerdy so I appreciate the lesson on the lore. Seriously...
