The Night Flower I’m an American and I’ve never seen an issue with it, it honestly does sound genuinely American although not with a specific dialect I could pick up. If I didn’t know who he was, I wouldn’t notice it was at all unnatural. I think OP is right, it’s mostly that people can’t disconnect themselves from the fact that his real accent is so different

@@francedajao8231 true, and the fact of the matter is the American accent was formed based on the English and Spanish people that “discovered” the land and colonised it. Their british accents being bad is their own fault for losing it, but our bad American ones are because our accent is not based on theirs, it’s the other way around 😂

this is actually one of my favorite superhero movies. It didn't invent a new trope, but it did build on the old one with interesting characters and a very creative ending imo

I also love how he was the first MCU hero to actually be against killing. He wasn't a soldier like most of the avengers or a merchant of death like Iron Man. And sure Bruce hated the fact that he had killed people but he willingly went Hulk against those Hydra agents in Age of Ultron. However Strange actually regretted the fact that he killed someone. He chose an outcome that wouldn't end with anyone's deaths. (not sure if they are better off with Dormammu but as far as we know they are still alive)

My favorite part about the "hospital" they used in this - it's not a hospital. It's a biology lab. The walls and ceilings are all shiny because it's what's called a "clean room", and not to mention the air handlers on the sliding doors as they walk past. I just know this because I specialized in clean rooms for 10 years.

To be fair, as an Asian myself, I'm sick of seeing the "wise guru" trope being a stereotypical Asian role, so it was refreshing to see that role being played by someone who is not Asian. Like, I'm all for giving Asian actors more roles, but if you just give them the same types of roles and fit them into a box, thats just as bad.

Well, they took the asian terrorist in Mandarin(which wasn't Mandarin but nobody really gives a shit) They took the asian wiseman in Ancient One. And also threw away the chance to make Amadeus Cho a thing in Hulk and Thor 3. Only character even worth mentioning is Wong and Helen Cho, which is debatable if even worth mentioning So, yeah. If they can't give a perfectly genuine role to asians, Fuck it, No asians roles for asians! White people will handle this from now on. If that logic was used to defend a Celtic Ancient One, They should've changed Iron Fist asian. And if that isn't perfect enough for you, they should've changed Vision or Hawk-Eye asian. Hell, Vision and Hawk-eye would've been perfect because nobody even cares if they are asian. Hell, I'd love to see any asian sidekicks which is worth mentioning like Sam Wilson and Rhodey. But Wong? He didn't even have time to be one because we had to see a villain unfold in ex-sidekick. WTF Marvel why do you hate asian heroes so much. There isn't any asian hero character even worth mentioning.

Honestly, I knew of the character barely because of the comics, which i wasn’t that into but did read them from time to time growing up. Ever since his movie came out and him being in Infinity War and Endgame, Dr. Strange is without a doubt my personal favorite Marvel superhero right now, maybe of all time. I can’t say favorite superhero ever, that would still belong to my beloved Bat, but Strange definitely favorite Marvel if not at least in the top 3.

I totally agree! Amazing in its own right. I just was blown away more by Strange. I remember thinking, "How the hell did they do that?!" a lot more. Where as when I went to JB, I was like, "Damn... das a real ass lookin' tiger. Good job."

How is getting an Oscar for make up silly? The make up in the movie was great anyone who denies that is just being biased 'cause it's still edgy I guess. It's not like they invented the award to give Suicide Squad it, it's been an Oscar for years and Suicide Squad deserved it.

I think that's the best HT I've seen yet... and they all kick arse!

Benterdickt Coramber there just loves those Mo-Cap takes... He was really liking the Smaug stuff too...

I burst out laughing when I saw the motion capture at the end. But despite that...Cumberbatch is BRILLIANT.

I understood the Medical Talk perfectly (I'm a DVM), and cringed at the many inaccuracies. Strange broke sterile technique multiple times in the OR, they state his fingers were plated when they were clearly pinned into external fixators, and they used a goddamn defibrillator on a patient in cardiac arrest (like most movies do) when its meant for fibrillation.

Despite the formulaic story, it all came together very well in the end. It was a nice, fun movie still with more heart than anything DCEU's come up with so far (which I hope changes with Wonder Woman and Justice League).

Funny enough, the decision was made to change the Ancient One's history specifically so they could sell to the asian market, which is, for the most part, China. Keeping the character as a Tibetan monk, as he is in the comics, would have really put a big stink on the Chinese market, so changing him to a Celtic woman just took the whole controversy for that market out of play entirely. It was really the best possible way to solve the problem without pissing off one of the biggest markets for any Marvel film.
