So I don't have an issue with the fact that Godzilla's breath can create a hole that leads to the center of the earth in a matter of minutes. What makes no sense is how any Kaiju he fights isn't instantly obliterated by it the second he hits them with it. If it can punch a hole through to the core of the earth, I'm sure whatever armor they have isn't going to stand up to it.

The CEO can afford to be that level of bad guy. The guys from Deliverance aren't gonna build a city destroying mecha monster.

So who's gonna tell on themselves and cop to the Reily Reid joke? Lol Edit: a lot of guilty silence during that joke lol

I appreciated the under two hours runtime of this movie. Sure it wasn't a cerebral journey but I enjoyed it for all the reasons mentioned by Lon who was really great in this video. 👌🤗

Yay! I think I was the guy that corrected Lon with "Ape." I thought it a funny retort made jest.

I found myself referring to the kid from deadpool as "the boyfriend/brother of Eleven" because honestly I never knew what was their relationship.

While I will always miss Dan and Joe, I now feel Spenny, Danielle and Lon are the Honest Trailer Commentary dream team!

They need to watch Pacific Rim The Black.

Not just a kaiju sized goat, but a giant Black Philip from The Witch would be awesome!

I think MechaGodzilla is a pretty good shape choice because the center of mass is low. And the tail is a third point on the ground.

I watched this back to back with Love and Monsters. It made for a fun Friday

Lon, what you saw on the screen was all ones and zeros, strictly binary primarily, from WETA Workshop. There was no motion capture work whatsoever, in "GvK". Check the credits... No listing of either Godzilla or Kong like in "G: KOTM" credit roll and no mo-cap actors like TJ Storm (who played Godzilla in the first one and KOTM or Jason Lisles who played one of the Ghidorah heads) were in the mix.

Holy shit, this is my favorite cold open they've ever done.

Good thought! A "We Made Manifest" and a "Notstradomas" montague would be neat!

@@Dolirn I've been thinking about it too, especially because the SJU crew makes fun of that line a fair bit. My best guess (as someone who hasn't really followed the franchise but read the synopses on wiki) is that in the past films, godzilla has always been fighting other monsters and not actively harming humans (because it could have attacked humans after defeating its previous foes). So for godzilla to suddenly attack areas where there are humans (before the real cause was revealed) would seem quite out of character. Happy to hear from other folks too!

In two weeks, it's gonna be April 20th. And it's the perfec time to do an Honest Trailer for a stoner comedy. Maybe Pineapple Express?

Next week: Oscars 2021? It's a little early, but Spencer said that it's one of his favorites to do every year, and that it will give us a variety of things to talk about, so I'm thinking Oscars.

I saw it on HBO. I saw in the Theater. Definitely a movie for the Cineplex.

How'd they get the power source to Mechagodzilla? I thought the team got the power source & signaled its location to Apex... but then Kong crushed their ship. I think in the movie they quickly say they can "replicate it", as I understood it the power source was recreated by Apex, not just a signal, but A LOT was going on when they threw that out there so I don't know.

Not surprised you guys have issues with the human characters again. The only human characters who are not boring in the MonsterVerse were Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, and Zhang Ziyi. Everyone else are boring and have no purpose in the movies, except tell the audiences what's happening with kaijus. Godzilla and the rest of the Monsters are the real main characters.
