Here's what I loved about the Derol character: The first time you see him, Miles Bron clearly says, *"Oh, that's Derol, he's not a part of this at all."* AND, he wasn't. 🤣😂
"Too Sexy For My Shirt" A Knives Out Mystery
I'm way more amused than I should be by the fact that this movie stars Drax, Agatha Harkness, Colleen Wing, the bad guy from Moon Knight and the first MCU Hulk.

You must be amused by every big movie then.
I liked that it addressed the pandemic and took place then.
My prediction for next movie: all the suspects get killed one by one. It doesn't seem to make any sense, the evidence doesn't point to any of them, because they all did it (in order, each killer gets killed next, including the last one, who sets off a trap laid by the first one.

I watched the review for the first Knives Out before this and Lon almost called the title! They had a whole segment where he predicted it would be two words unrelated to Knives Out
Blanc definitely gives me deep fried Columbo vibes.

The biggest plot hole in this movie is that Miles Bron would face any consequences even after the events of the movie.
@brentage5000

That's the thing, though -- he absolutely won't, but people will still know he destroyed the Mona Lisa, or at least caused it to have been destroyed. Even if he's okay legally, no one will want to taint their name with his after that.
So… is next week Demolition Man?!

Interesting that so many people say this. About the only thing I’ve seen Kate Hudson in is Almost Famous. However, I’ve seen Edward Norton in many films and far more references to him on websites and social media.
@mk6rfc1
Жыл бұрын
I dunno I think their biggest hits each are Fight Club & Almost Famous and I feel like more people have seen Fight Club, plus Norton has got that mcu connection (even if people haven’t screen TIH, they’re aware he played Hulk before Ruffalo) so is probably known more with young audiences
Adding to the technical critique, there's also a really bad ADR moment with Janelle where it cuts from her face and the replaced dialogue is not convincing at all. Also, why does this movie end up having TWO characters putting on super fake southern accents
For me, please do Ski School 1 and 2.
The issue was never that the movie *literally* destoyed the Mona Lisa-it's that it stated very clearly that burning the Mona Lisa to "stick it to the rich" would be a moral act. This is a painting that dozens of people literally risked their lives to keep from being destroyed by the Nazis (along with art by a number of other artists whose work the Nazis burned for "appealing to degenerate elites"), and the movie treats burning that same work, for roughly the same reasons, like it's not a horrifying crime.
@emb5048

Actually, it was one of Hitlers favorites if I recall. So that’s wrong. And lots of old art has been thru lots of world events. It’s what makes it, you know, old.

Oh god, I did squirm with the "blading" talk. That's so weird
Didn't love this movie, definitely enjoyed the first one more. One subversion *sigh* that I did love was right at the beginning with the straight up ridiculous puzzle box (which I caught the magic-eye thing right away) that Helen just smashes that thing up from the get go. That got a laugh for sure!

@@o.b.7217 Totally fair. I don't hold hate for this one. It just felt far more current-moment-in-time for 2020. Though Elon being a total idiot might have been a bit of foresight. Characters are fun, and while I"m fine with a mystery that doesn't give you vital information--one where you just enjoy the ride--this one felt a bit heavy handed in that aspect. And the culminating act of her just breaking a bunch of stuff...I didn't have a "yeah!" reaction. I sort of just rolled my eyes.

I prefer that I watched it at home, it was a good Sunday evening film. But if I had to drive out to my local theater & shell out $15 for it, I would have been mad. It was essentually a direct-to-video sequel.
I would say globally Ed norton is far more famous than Kate Hudson.
Hmm. I loved the first movie! But here, Rian stretched the plot too much for my interest to hold. The ending was a bit too fantastical IMO.
Personally I was veeery let down by this :/ The 'celebrity friends in pretty locales with inside jokes' vibe was played up too much and excruciating at times. To the point of distracting from the story. And I'm sorry but the performances of Monae, Bautista and Leslie Odom Jr all kind of sucked to me and pulled me out whenever they were on screen.
This movie was dumb. So Helen/ Andi won't be in legal trouble for blowing up a house and the Mona Lisa? Just Ed Norton? Dumb. Everyone at the ends decides to tell the truth and perjury themselves. They are going to jail. So much dumb in this movie. A whodunit film when you know whodunit in the first 10 minutes.

The point is after the Mona Lisa fiasco no one would benefit from an association with miles. Miles had lost all power he had over them. And on top of that all that they really don't like him
@cheekyboomboom8973
Жыл бұрын
I think the idea is that everyone will lie and/or commit perjury again but this time pin everything on Miles. For both of the murders surely. And I assume if they'll commit perjury about that, they wont have any issues with saying Miles also accidentally blew up his own house with the Mona Lisa in it. I don't think Miles has any proof to dispute them if they do.
Gonna go out on a limb here …. I think Rian Johnson sucks.
