That slow roller by itself is a good way to make your 22 kettle I to a quasi WSM. I’ve been using a 19 inch pizza pan as a water pan/deflector but you still have to be careful as there is a lot of radiant heat coming from that pan and any hot spots under can really affect your meat so you have to keep rotating specially at 300-325. This slow roller looks like it would solve that hotspot issue and allow full use of the grate as well.

This is great to see from you as there is no biased opinion. I’ve watched a couple videos on this grill but don’t trust the opinions or reviews given due to the fact they already have Kamado Joes and this grill was given to them from Kamado Joe. I’ve been thinking of buying this kettle, so I look forward to seeing your answer to that through your videos. Thanks Tom, and have a Happy Easter

Are you going to use the 1 1/8 wide felt gasket or the fiberglass gasket? I've never bought gasket before and I like the idea of putting on mine when it arrives to make sure it has a nice seal all the way around.
@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ

Thanks for Watching Thomas!, I will use the felt gasket
Great review! Really looking forward to seeing how long a load of fuel lasts in one of these on a low and slow cook given it's not double walled.

Hey Tom. Nice overview. How else are you going to mod the grill? Probe port? Smoke hole? 😜. So I have the BJ3 and on that grill you use the nubs on the divine and conquer rack as stops between the two half moons. Holds them in place better than how I think you had it in the vid. Helps when brushing.

I was gifted a KJ3 Classic to replace my aging Akorn last month. The KJ3 has the SloRoller, which is three pieces and I can tell you it does a much better job of smoking. Roasts, ribs, beer can chicken, all came out with a nice kiss of smoke and more importantly, JUICER! The KJ3 has "divide and conquer" system which gives multiple levels on both sides. The KJ kettle seems like a nice blend of two worlds, kettle and kamado. Time will tell but I can attest to the fact that my cooks are better on the KJ3 than they were on the Akorn. My son-in-law had an Akorn (same one) and now has a KJ3 Classic. He sayd the same thing. After your diffuser mods to the Weber kettle, I bet you won't see much difference between that and the KJ Kettle. You are just ahead of your time! Love your vids. Keep 'em coming.

Very interesting, been planning on turning my 26” Kettle into a Kamado type of cooker. Going to use the charcoal ring from a 22” WSM with a couple of pizza plates. Love to know your opinion on how you would go about turning the 26” into a kamado cooker. Thanks Tom

I am glad Tom has the money to test these grills out. I think WEBER is finally seeing some real competition as we are seeing some real innovation in charcoal cooking. I think those one half grills will fit in a dishwasher which to me will be a great improvement. Most ladies don't ever think the grill surface is ever clean enough. Me, well 350 to 400 degrees will kill any germ. Thanks Tom, looking forward to a cook. No more than I cook the old WEBER will do just fine.

I may still end up with this grill at some point but if I didn't own the Weber Summit I'd definitely have jumped on this without question. Already I have too many grills and the wife is starting to notice.. only so many places in the garage you can hide grills before they start overflowing amirite?... In a previous video I called your grills, "landfill of grills" because once you get an offset you may never look back. Still saying you should get one. :p Can't wait to see your first cook and how it does.

Oh no... you have too many (not really) NEW grills and I am feeling overwhelmed for you! There are simply not enough hours in the day to cook on all of them as often as I'm sure you'd like! I saw this kettle a couple of weeks back for the first time, and I was super intrigued by the "SloRoller" like you. Can't wait to see the first smoke/cook!

Hey Tom! When I read "Hyperbolic" I said I gotta watch this! Watched every second and I can't wait to see you put it to the Tom Horseman test! I like the Stainless charcoal basket and the individual leafs of brick or what ever they are. 😁 I'm with you, I'm interested in seeing the slow roller on a regular 22 kettle. Maybe just a gimmick?..... but maybe there is something to this wizardry? I'll watch and see what your thoughts are. Great Vid......Love seeing what these companies are doing to try and sell us the Better MouseTrap! LOL \🔥/
