She's not stupid by any means, but when we game, she conveniently forgets the rules and when she's called out she's like "but i already did it, can't we just let it slide this one time?" But she does that over and over so it's like, yeah well, one time here, one time there. It adds up.

@@rav3style even at my most tolerant level, crowdsourcing has at a minimum two limitations for me: 1. You can’t help me. I will pull my own weight. 2. You can help others as long as you are not slowing down the game. Rule #2 may be amended if I am trying to pull off a sneaky move on one opponent, and someone else is trying to helpfully point that out.

@@Creshex8 The difficulty of rules is the unspoken and unwritten ones, the assumptions people bring to the table. A good host, and none exist, make these sorts of things clear inside the invitation: "NO smoking, helping others, looking at your cell phone" for example, INSIDE The initial invitation.

"I have to use the bathroom even though it's my turn and we're halfway through the game, then I'm gonna be there for 15 minutes while you all lose all hope in life!"

I was just going to leave a comment to that effect. The sponsorship barely affected the video at all, it was still an accurate and funny sketch, and the ones making the game didn't include something ridiculous about how the have to force in a way to make their game look positive. It even sort of informed one of the jokes because no one's heard of that game!

I hate people that quit the game before the game starts to prove there more superior or mature? There's no difference if you win or loose, you'll be the same person you were when you started the game.

Seriously tho If you're going to do a game night, there are a few guidelines to making it less awkward: - plan to play a game that at least 60% of the people there have experienced playing, this way there is a majority of people that can explain the rules to the minority - don't play a complex game for the first game night, keep the first game simple and fun, cards against humanity is a perfect icebreaker for future game nights - have something else to do besides the game itself, people are bound to get bored, so having something else that keeps them entertained is a great idea, examples include wine drinking, a video game, a constantly running movie, etc - NEVER PLAY MONOPOLY. Its not because the game isn't fun, but because the game has really specific and useless rules all over the place, and everybody learned a different version growing up, forcing people to either re-learn the game, or argue about what rules make sense

I'd actually recommend against using Cards Against Humanity. Believe it or not, there is a fair amount of people who are immediately turned off by that game. If you're going open with that style, go with Apples to Apples or actually Funemployed. Cards Against Humanity is a good closer for the night, so those who don't want to play it are able to just excuse themselves for the night. But really, I think light bluffing games like Coup or Sheriff of Nottingham are a better bet.

Like they said they did multiple rounds implying they played more than once which sometimes happens at game nights… like people want to play another time (maybe until someone competitive wins…) and it is stretching out so long that everyone gets bored. If you have a lot of people in the group who are competitive enough that it's a problem, the smart move is to focus more on social and/or cooperative games. I do tend to get overly competitive, and finding games that don't reward me being cut-throat with the other players has helped me a LOT.
