Nice work dude. I like the workflow of picture --> Solidworks --> Fusion 360 --> CNC Mill. I'm thinking of getting a CNC mill for my garage to do these kinds of things.

Dušan Pešić Hey Buddy. They are indeed. Everything’s 4 flute coated carbide - kinda for no particular reason. Just kinda started here. Spoke to a few people at work and they all said to go coated carbide - even for aluminum. What’s your opinion? I’m going to be trying 3 flute coated carbide tooling soon. Might let me take harder cuts? I gummed up/f’d up my 3/4 4 flute carbide endmill in a .080” DOC 0.002” IPT 2500 RPM Facing operation - and it threw out the tram by 0.25” over about 8” in the X 😂 normally I’m within 0.001-0.002” over 8”.

@@adamdebowski2037 if you're going to get a coating you have to get something like zirconium nitride which doesn't contain aluminium; coatings such as AlTiN like to stick to aluminium. so if that 3/4" is made AlTiN or similar, that probably didn't help the gumming lol. i use a 3 flute with a bright finish, haven't really had them gum up yet. also helps that 3 flutes clear the chips easier

Dušan Pešić just checked the tool manufacturers site - and they don’t say what kind of coating, but they do say that “coated is for ferrous material, Non coated is for ferrous and non ferrous.” So you may be right...... Going to get their aluminum-specific 3 flute cutters next and give them a shot.... would LOVE to see a noticeable difference that’ll help me push the programs a little harder.

@@ikbendusan Just checked their site. About 55USD for the standard length Aluminum 3 flute endmills.... my local (and Canadian) manufacturer (Deboer Tool) is stelling them for 65 CAD which is a little less, plus no shipping.... so I'll likely go that route. I've heard good things about Lakeshore Carbide... still trying to find that "cheap online supplier" that makes good stuff... i'd even be willing to wait longer. Seems everywhere I look endmills are all about the same price... but always hear guys talking about "cheap online endmills" vs the expensive profoessional stuff... but I can't really find a price difference anywhere and ALWAYS have no idea how good that manufacturer actually is.... so many players in this game.... not surprising... take $1 of steel and sell it for $150... I'm in the wrong industry!
