Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
On the road again! There is still a long way to go on our Honda Valkyrie project but she is out on the streets! We are trying to do a motorcycle build on a budget and we hope you will follow along. In this video Josh takes this motorcycle for a road and talks to you about it along the way, a moto vlog of sorts.

I've been using Avon Cobra Chrome tires. Not cheap, but great grip, stability, and good wear. My Valkyrie has just turned 92k and has been flawless. I immediately switched to an 11 inch T-bar drag bar setup and ditched the beach bar. I also added the TBR triple tree. It reduces trail by 2" but maintains the stock rake angle. This puts a bit more weight over the front, as well as tightening up the turning radius by shortening the wheelbase a bit. I have a few bikes, but this is the one I would never consider selling.
I own thee 1999 valkyrie. I LOVE THIS BIKE , of all the 6 motorcycles 🏍 I've had, with this engine , (sounds like a 1956 Buick , percolating engine sound)the 💺 seat is so comfortable, I've never had it so good , I've got the big fat tires for comfort and the saddle bags prepared for a cruise soon.....

It’s a great bike for sure! Thanks for watching!
You're not helping my itch for a Valkyrie! I've already got a '77 Oldwing I restored and a '96 Goldwing 1500SE. But the Val is so cool and fast...it's worming its way into my mind! Cheers!

3 is always better than 2! 😂🤘
The Valk is longer than most motorcycles = 8', this does affect your cornering! The 'engine block' is the only thing the Goldwing shares with the Valkyrie everything else is new, stronger, more power, more torque, it is a different motorcycle.
I own a 2003 Valkyrie. Best bike I have ever owned
2000 Classic here, 25,000 miles. Got it through salvage auction. My first bike ever, love it!

@@fixingorflipping do you find that you ever use the cigarette lighter part for anything? I’m trying to figure out if I’d use that ever.
I have a 2001 FSC. 🎉Original owner is my boss. Best bike ever. 😅. When my 2003 Anniversary Edition Ultra Classic is broke, this is my go to bike. Keep Avons on there and use the Honda factory oil. Find a Honda shop that does a lot of side by sides. They are the only ones that can keep the carbs in line with spec. Lithium battery is the best up grade. By the way it’s way the effing heavier than the ultra classic. Lol. The wheel base is only 8 feet for Pete’s sake.
I have one. Picked it up for a song and required just a little bit of work to get going. I have since sold my other two bikes since this is the only one I ride anymore and I'm looking at maybe picking up another Valk.
Excited to see this bike project develop. I'm newly single and a valkyrie has been a dream of mine for decades. I will have one for myself soon. 😊

When I got a 1997 Valk I sold my Harley Deluxe. The Valkyrie outshines it 10-1 in every way. The overheat light will come on when it is not overheated. Common issue on the forums.
Loved the video, glad to see the bike up and running! I have a Valkyrie myself, a 98’ with almost 24,000 miles on it. They are pretty bulletproof and reliable bikes. I’m planning to put classic plates on mine and some new bars thanks to you. If y’all ever find yourself riding through Houston Texas I would love to get a ride in with you two.

Very cool 🤘
Try putting 40psi in that front tire, will make steering more nimble, that's the setup I have on my 1999 valkyrie...

Thanks for your review.

Look through Google maps for directions. To where you're going and tell it back roads. It will show you all different directions. Hope it helps. Ben.

My ‘97 Valk front tire is 150.
Bought a 98 valk after my first bike that I destroyed on a deer. I love mine. 28000 miles on it been upgrading and modding mine to my styling but fun to ride and I love that high rev humming!

Nice video man! I have a 98 Valkyrie Standard with 35,000 miles on it. I’ve only put about 2000 miles on it myself though. I’m definitely gonna check out those handlebars though! These beach bars hurt my shoulders after a few hours. Looking forward to seeing more Valkyrie content!

Awesome! Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave feedback. Hoping to take this bad boy on a 3600 mile trip in April so hopefully there is more content coming. Take care. 🤘
Informative video-certainly on my bucket list but the 6 carbs are a concern for used bikes that may have been sitting for months/years. Bought a vtx1800 for that reason and it is ok. Would love to swap for a valkyrie one day. Great styling unless you hate cleaning chrome!
Love your ape handle bar. Its affordable and easy set up.

would liked to have seen more of what you were doing to the Valk & how you got round any problems that you encountered. Look on the VIN plate, you'll have an indication of which model you have. Standard = 1500C, Tourer = 1500CT, Interstate = 1500CF , Deluxe = 1500CD.
Beothherr where can I buy your windscreen?
These bikes are over 20yrs old... things to watch out for are cracking/splitting vacuum lines, petcock diaphragm, change the timing belts, fluids.

And the early ones can have issues with the clutch damper plate. Rivets come loose and grenade the clutch. Just replaced mine at 65K. What a job with location and all.
where'd you get the drink holder? :0
Loved the video. I just got my own Valkyrie and I'm really enjoying the ride. Just wondering about the wire that keeps flickering through part of the video.

Hahaha. Thanks for watching. It’s the mic wire for the camera. We are working on a fix for future videos. 🤘
I'm in the UK & don't have the same vast choices of tyres as you guys. Our 'authorities have more power to restrict what we can or can't do with 'altering' our cars n bikes! I currently run Avon Cobra Chromes front = 150/80 17 (72V), rear = 200/60 VR16 TL (79V) .
i have been looking at the Valkyrie for years but haven't purchased one yet. I was wondering if you had any issues getting parts for it. I am retired now and want to ride longer distances. would love a Valkyrie for that but concerned if i have a problem i may not be able to get the parts to fix it. Looking at the Suzuki c90 as well. I have a 97 Yamaha Royal Star and an 98 Suzuki c50t. Having issues getting parts for the Royal Star so that is the reason for considering a change in bikes. Good luck on your tires and ride safely.

We have found that we can find the parts (mostly on eBay) but they are far more expensive than we anticipated. Hope this helps! Thank you for watching. 🤘

I have a’97 Valkyrie with 105,000 miles on it. Never had a problem with parts though I had to get a radiator fan motor from E-Bay once. It was $20 vs. over $100 OEM. The local Powersports dealership will not work on bikes over 10 years old, so that is a consideration. Standard maintenance is not difficult though. I own a BMW 1200, R1100 RS and a Triumph T100, but the Valk is my overall favorite.
Can I ask you something I am also from 2000 I have a valkyrie at 2000rpm 2 steps 25 miles The speed is about 35 miles in 3rd gear I feel a little heavy and stuffy. Is this normal speed

I have a 98 valk and you can redline this beast. I would check my carbs x6, air filter etc. Last tune up? Oil change? Keeping up with maintenance would definitely help.
Definitely pass on the Shinko tires !
random question, but how does this bike do going over potholes?
@fixingorflipping
3 ай бұрын
It was pretty harsh to be honest. That’s the only reason I didn’t keep it. I completely rebuilt the forks and put new progressive rear shocks on it and the ride was still rougher than I like
Front tire is a 150
Rated torque is 100 ft/lbs
Check out the run from your location to Steamboat Springs, CO...🤩

Ultimate
i expect old bikes with carbs will be more desirable ….honda a plus….because the early fuel injection and computers have an expiration date (20 years ). You can be in the middle of nowhere and need to get a hotel for a week while the shop fixes a 20 year old fuel injection problem. Now the repair is worth more than the bike. Honda had 50 years to develop the Valkyrie, then switched to computerized , then to new smog laws. Goldwing is not an old man’s bike. ? Valkyrie is the real old man bike , when the goldwing and passenger become too heavy.
1997 (due to the cams) = Power 100.0 hp (74.6 kW) (rear wheel), Torque 102.3 lb⋅ft (138.7 N⋅m) (rear wheel). 1998 - 2003 (different cams) = Power 100 bhp, Max torque 87 ft-lb.
Should ride that bad boy out to fast life campout 6
