    Got my 83 v65 back again... 3rd time buying it back... Restored and upgraded it a few years ago. I just can't seem to get by without it. Not a real bike person but owning a v65 is just different. Can't wait to get the few little neglected things sorted and start ripping again. Btw, rejetted the carb and put a 4 into 1 on it and buddy it rolls.

    A beautiful ride This fine bike I had the pleasure of riding at 100 miles per hour on the freeway with my daughter's dad. Thank God he could drive. That baby was purring like a big cat. Smooth ride not shaky at all. It was Sooo fun. A little hard to catch my breath but definitely one of the Most exciting days of my Life

    In 88 drove an 82 V45 across country. San Fran to LA to New Orleans to Chicago to Ct. 45 days, no police no breakdowns no rain. Great month and a half. Loved that bike. Would like to pick up an 86 V65 for old times sake.

    Thank you for sharing. It brought back some good memories. I bought one new in 84 and drove it across the U.S. when I was 22 years old. The engine didn't even work hard climbing the Rocky Mountains. I bought another 1984 model in 2011 but like me, it did not run as fast anymore.

    Thanks for the video. My dad had this exact bike. He rode it to work everyday in New York. Love this bike. He brought it back with him to Costa Rica when he retired. He gave it to my cousin and I don't know what if it still exists. But I have very fond memories. I never learned to ride her, I was too afraid of the Power. So I always convinced my best friend Tony to take it for a ride when my father wasn't around. We whizzed around New York so fast. Everyone would look at the bike like it was the Devil. Always knew when dad got home becuase of the sound and that would tell us to jump in bed and play sleep 😜😜😜. Thanks for the memory. And great video, I'm glad you've restored yours, she's lovely. Cheers friend.

    83-85, I would strongly recommend to install the cylinder head oil mod (in 1986, Honda changed how the oil delivery worked). This will help in the issue with premature cam wear. Also, use a oil filter for a 84 Honda Prelude (it has a larger filter surface area which will improve oil flow with the same mount). I own a 84 (which I bought in 84), and a 86 V65, which I still ride to work. oil mod: search Dave Dodge oil mod (this is the one I used).

    As a previous owner of both a 1st gen V45 magna and a 84 V65 Sabre I can personally speak to how GREAT the V series bikes from Honda were. They were truly magnificent bikes. Mind blowing acceleration on both the 750cc and 1100cc. They just pulled like a freight train through every gear. Both of mine suffered from the common 2nd gear issue. Anyone who has ever owned one most likely knows what I'm talking about. Hard acceleration in first gear and shift into second and it grabs second but kicks you out and be ready for a bit of wobble as a result but learn to shift from first to third and it still pulls hard. I would love to own another one. Unfortunately most of the ones I find for sale are either in pristine condition and way out of my price range or they've been sitting in a garage for 25+ years and they need a complete overhaul. Never anything in between it seems. One day I will find one. Until then, to all my fellow 2 wheel riders, keep the sunny side up and hope your grinnin' while the wheels are spinnin'!!!

    I'm working on a 1983 V65 magna, it is definitely not free of the problems plaguing the other early Honda V4's. This one has 50,000 miles on it, minor cam pitting, and weak cam chain tensioners. I just finished up adjusting the tensioners, gonna do a valve clearance check, then button it up and see how it runs! I'm very excited to see how it does at the dragstrip, as this will be the most powerful bike I have ever gone flat out on.

    @@hockey98550 It works! Me and my dad bent the tensioner rather than relocating the pivots. It has a reasonable amount of cam chain noise now, not quiet, but given the tensioner design I think it’s normal. The bike has a lot of torque, I am too scared to go full throttle early in first gear, and cornering it is interesting. I did end up taking it to the dragstrip and my best run was a 12.4 at 109 mph. I could do things to make it faster, and launch better, but it isn’t as fast as it’s mythical reputation in mortal hands. Video here: m.kzread.info/dash/bejne/aoh3r5KLY6a6oJM.html

    Hi Jim, I agree. It's one of the first things I noticed. I was a Honda Dealer Service Manager when that bike was new, and wrote many crash estimates. It needs a Superbike handlebar, Proper gas shocks/cartridge forks and a pair of Metzlers/Avons/sticky Dunlops. It would then be a keeper forever. This coming from a roadracer who never thought he'd like a "Gag me with a Magna". I've found a clean one here in So. Cal (6-2019) for under a Grand. Damn. I may have to buy it!! cheers Boots Langley La Mesa, Ca

    Zadales pytanie wiec udziele konkretnej odpowiedzi. Jesli chcesz Magne to rozgladaj sie za 1100 gdyz 750 sa slabsze i trzeba to krecic zeby "jechac" Jesli chodzi o 1100 to masz wybor najwczesniejszej wersji(najmocniejszej) oraz tej po malym "lifcie"(ja taka wlasnie mam). Wczesne modele maja inne gazniki i oferuja troche lepsze osiagi aczkolwiek kazda Magna 1100 o ile nie jest skastrowana(a byly takie wersje) to mocny i batrdzo dynamiczny sprzet. Wczesne wersje roznia sie rowniez felgami. Pozniejsze wersje mialy rzekomo montowanie poprawione walki rozrzadu z twardszego stopu, ale ponoc tez w tych modelach zdazaly sie przypadki awarii wynikajace z zaniedban serwisowych. OK a wiec w czym rzecz? Scislej mowiac chodzi o walki rozrzadu, ktore moga sie przycierac. Dzis mozna to smialo nazwac "wada konstrukcyjna". W latach 90 bylo kilka firm w USA, ktore oferowaly zestawy akcesoryjnych systemow smarowania glowic do tych V4-rek i jest to dobra "polisa ubezpieczeniowa". Ja kupilem taki system w Kanadzie do swojej za 200 dolarow(+oplaty) i szczerze polecam. Druga typowa przypadlosc to padajace sprzegielko rozrusznika. Amory z tylu wyzionely ducha i w tamtym roku zlecilem firmie Hagon w UK wykonanie amorow pod moje wytyczne wagowe i styl jazdy z pasazerem. Zmiana odczuwalna z miejsca !

  • @Adikxx

    @Adikxx

    7 жыл бұрын

    Learning not needed here.I assure you i can shift a lot quicker.Those bikes are 30 yo and both gearboxes are very specific(a bit clunky and some wear)Shifting the way all those people suggest would sometimes not even get in in the gear(experienced many times) .If you rode lots of old bikes(like me) you probably know what i mean by that. I can feel that in my Magna quite distinctively. The gears don't just nicely click in when ridden hard and revving high. Some of the people commenting here have no bloody clue about that. You wouldn't shift a high mileage bike with notchy/clunky box same way as a brand new R1 or Blade with silky smooth box would you? I had about a dozen comments about shifting and it really makes me wonder is it because people seriously have no clue of that or because they know well but fancy some trolling.
