    I own the 2020 1000X-4 Fox Live Valve and have wheel spacers in the from only. The HCR is bad ass but very pricey. I like this idea if I can find a wrecked talon R for cheap and go this route. I’m in Arizona and do mostly deserve trails with some slow rock crawling at box canyon.

    Or you should be able to pick up a used R suspension pretty easily.

    I am curious to know what's your wheelbase on your 4 seater R? I know they changed the wheelbase on the 2 seater R to be shortened for 2023. The new 4 seater R is 118.7 inch.

    I just measured mine, it’s right at 122inch!

    I talked with Jsport last year about the R conversion on my 4 seater. To do it right and upgrade certain components along the way it was going to be quite pricey to buy all the parts. That being said i prefer the idea of oem geometry and design, but the HCR is much more of a direct swap and more cost effective - my question is if the HCR kit is worse in anyway other than being a few inches wider?

    The HCR kit is great, and you’re at 72” wide with 6+1 wheel offsets which is totally awesome!! There are a lot of people who put on an HCR kit and sell their R suspension components for very cheap. HCR kit is a great option!! And you can use the original shocks

    Thanks for the reply. Sounds like you have vetted out a lot of parts on these talons so its good to hear your praise for the HCR kit. I recently stumbled upon a long travel kit from raceco which also had my attention. Anyway, thank you for your time and for your commitment to posting up informative videos for the Talon folks.

    @@Mace3700 thank you for watching. I’ve built a 4 seater talon with the HCR suspension for a friend and it’s a very nice setup.

    @@Mace3700Whats the price on that Raceco long travel? I cant decide which to go with. Rugged Terrain also has something similar and cheaper than the HCR kit

    @@carlosalas4374 i was quoted about $15k, but your talking a very comprehensive package that includes tons of components (even a billet steering rack, upgraded power steering motor, etc) to make the whole package work like a properly engineered package. Not to mention their kits have a legit race pedigree. I am sure it’s absolutely worth it, but I cant justify it on my family hauling recreational car. If i do it i will likely go with HCR kit and utilize many of the bracing options from raceco and try to find a happy medium.

    Any idea the total cost for this? Did you change shocks?

    It depends, you can find used suspension parts from people who upgraded to an HCR suspension for pretty cheap. I have R shocks on my talon.

    Hello, question, would the 1000R front shocks fit the 1000X-4? and would I get any improvement on the ride?

  • @gravesru

    @gravesru

    Maybe if you got limit straps. The R shocks have more suspension travel and would bind your axles and cause damage.

    @@gravesru I was looking at those here in Costa Rica, but shelling out $44,000.00 just isn’t going to happen!😲 But CR just passed a law that says if your getting residency you can bring in up to two vehicles no tax! So now I need to convince our friends who are about to get their residency to bring one down from the US for me…ha ha….we will see? It would be pretty cool to have my two seater in the US and a Four seater in CR!
