HONDA S2000'S FASTEST LAPS SO FAR! | FIRST BUTTONWILLOW TRACK DAY

➢LEGENDS MEDIA STORE: legends.media/
Today was my first ever Buttonwillow track day! This is my second time ever out in the Honda S2000 and I am absolutely loving it. I have been learning so much and consistently improving in the car. I can already feel myself becoming more comfortable driving the S2 more aggressively, so im excited for the future! Today, I was able to knock my time down from 2:27 all the way to 2:10!

Same issue with my Evo and Type R. Whenever I use aftermarket metal oil caps, it always gets loose and spits out lots of oil. When you're doing trackdays, always use the stock one.

Or just use it all the time. Aftermarket oil cap has no advantage over the one that comes with the car. It's just a sticker. Don't believe me then peel your oil cap you bought from them.

Some people already mentioned it but make sure you stick with the plastic/OEM oil fill cap. The next thing you're going to want to watch out for is the oil filter backing itself out due to vibration, very similar to what your aluminum oil cap was doing. I was able to make something similar to this using bendable metal wire and spent around $5 total: renegademotorsports.com/products/renegade-s2000-ti-oil-stopper Last thing is you're going to run into blow-by issues on Phil Hill unless you modify your valve cover or if you run catch cans, most people (myself included) opt for the latter on a heavily tracked S2000. I didn't see this problem start to arise until I was driving 2:06 and faster but it will cause your car to misfire (the oil blow-by goes into the manifold then into the combustion chamber and causes the AFR measurement to be inaccurate) and can possibly cost you a track day... better to be prepared! This is the product I opted for to solve the problem, I'm running the dual catch can kit: www.radiumauto.com/S2000-Catch-Can-Kit-00-05-LHD-P360.aspx Good luck!

Sounds like Matt has some great input for you. Loving the content, one thing to look out for the future is partial-throttle lift offs to get the nose pointed. Sometimes you don’t need to come all the way off the gas to get the nose pointed. As you get tighter suspension, those aggressive lift-offs will cause snap oversteer, and also with some additional aero you can be more aggressive with those inputs as the aero will hold you to the road better. Can’t wait to see more!

try to work on bringing your foot up and off the clutch a bit smother and earlier I see your holding it in longer to try to be smoother but the sudden last minute drop of the clutch upsets the car a bit on entry and kills your exit, pulling it out earlier will also help as it will do something called engine braking which helps pull the car up faster so you can get back on the throttle sooner, keep it up Dustin loving the content!

Looked like a blast I’ve yet to head down to button willow yet but it looks amazing. Really work on those downshifts and heel toe braking. Once you get more confident it’s really gonna upset the balance of the car before a turn just dropping the clutch like that after braking. Your car should always be in gear never brake in neutral. Just keep it in gear then heal toe down each gear on the approaching the turn. Not only is it way more fun you will be much faster and smoother. Just do this every time you come to a stop light and you’ll have it down in a week or so.

As a proud S2K owner, I’ve 2 advices for you my friend: A) your shock absorbers are not up for the challenge: get a KW COILOVERS and a proper geometry and you’ll easily go below the 2:10’s B) your VTEC engagement point is WAY to high. Get a stand-alone ECU (AEM V2 or Hondata). Cheers!!

Good progress bro. Try braking and turning in slightly later at the edge of the track so you can accelerate out of corners straighter. Your line is good for fwd but in the s2k it means ur accelerating much slower out of corners and sometimes oversteering at the exit of the corner meaning you have to let off the throttle, countersteer and regain traction

You have to change the oil cap because of the vibrations of the motor keep vibrating it off it’s the same thing that the GT 350s having it’s because the harmonics at a high rpm keep vibrating the cap loose or in the case of the Ford GT 350 it vibrates the oil filter loose and you may have a fire if he gets on the headers
