HONDA REBEL 1100 DCT First Ride with your Questions Answered! Stahlman's Powersports allowed me to take a Brand New HONDA REBEL 1100 DCT out for a First Ride video. During the Honda Rebel 1100 DCT First Ride I test throttle roll on's at multiple speeds in different riding modes to see who the throttle mapping affects acceleration in these modes. I also tested the Honda Rebel 1100 DCT for slow speed maneuvers in a parking lot and find it very easy to ride at slow speeds because of the DCT. After the first ride is complete I answer questions asked by fans of the channel. #HondaRebel1100 #11000DCT #FirstRide #Motorcycle #RidingintheOzarks

    Mike, I have a DCT (a red one) and I've had it for a couple of months now. The DCT is nice, but remember, if you like shifting, it has a paddle shifter which works great. Also, you can dial in the "user" mode to any power/torque/engine braking and shifting pattern you like. The only modifications I've made are putting a 5" raiser on the handlebars and I put a Two Brothers Racing muffler on mine. I really like my bike and it is fun and enjoyable to ride. And, I've been riding for 50 years. I bought the DCT to help with my advancing arthritis and that has really helped. The top end is electronically limited to 99mph, but I think that's going to change after the aftermarket catches up with this new bike and a ECU flash can be made. When I tried the top-end on my bike; you get to 99mph and it stops there, but you can tell there's a LOT more in the engine. I'm thinking about 130mph. I hope this helps answer some of your subscribers' questions. I love your channel. It's one of my favorites. Take care. Eric in Kissimmee Florida.

    I own a Rebell dct and an indian sport chief. My Rebell is a joy to ride i am glad did not listen to harley block head. Your comentsvon the tank and pegs are correct, reason i had to add huge pads and move the controls forward and ruze the barr, also chand the seat. Now is a proper sport cruiser. My chief looks bette so i put up with its quarks, lol. Honda got it right in the Rebell, you need to ride it. I alsi come from Dirt bike baja trail rider, but a bit old now. Mid Heavy bikes are my pasión now. Still hits the trails evey so ofeten, but the hyway on my Rebell or my Chief more often.

    Its great that dealerships are working with reviewers and youtube personalities to show off their product lines. Honda has perfected the DCT. I had a chance to sit on one but not ride, I wish it had forward foot controls. and was disappointed when I looked at the accessories they showed off in the reveal video are not yet available. I do think they need to put this engine in the shadow phantom. For someone who might be smaller or newer to riding it could still be a good bike to learn on that doesn't have "crazy" power but enough they aren't trading it in after the first year or two.

    Great video. Appreciate your input. I have the manual model and don't find the foot pegs that wide. I think they are positioned narrower than the DCT model. I understand what you're saying about it not fitting the "Cruiser" mold. Compared to my Boulevard, it's not a classic cruiser. I was looking for a modern version of my first gen. V45 Magna which i consider a "Sport Cruiser". I prefer the seat height of the Magna, the swept back handlebars and the softer ride but I can get used to my knees being high and modify the bars. A seat cushion will help too as I plan on doing long distance rides. I'm also not worried about the small fuel capacity as I like to stop before a 200 km (160 mi) stretch. I consider this a modern "Sport Cruiser" and really like the quality, tech and performance of this bike. I'm an older guy like you but I think Honda will sell a ton of these bikes to younger riders.

    Thank you, I really wondered if the non dct would be different. The dealer only got one in so had nothing to compare it to. I expect this bike to sell well and do exactly what Honda wants which is to keep riders in Honda’s longer as they upgrade from smaller bikes.

  • @altortugas5979

    @altortugas5979

    3 жыл бұрын

    So, I should make a couple qualifying remarks to start this off. First, I didn’t wait for my accessories to arrive at the dealership. I had a schedule to keep. So while it did experience quite a bit of discomfort on the trip, I attribute most of that to figuring out how to manage a 30lb backpack across a 2300 mile trip. Second, the rest of the discomfort I felt, I attribute to the fact that I have a severe case of osteoarthritis. If you live over 100 years, your hips still probably won’t be as degenerate as mine. I should probably get some mew ones... on to the bike! So, the first thing I’ll talk about is those foot pegs. After a couple hours, they get pretty uncomfortable. I ended up removing the plastic stanchions from the inboard side of the pegs so I could use that space over the peg hinges and the side of the control arms as sort of bootleg floorboards. I definitely plan to replace the pegs with mini-floorboards so that my feet can be properly comfortable on longer rides. Next, the bike is planted far more solidly on the ride than I expected from a sub-500 lb bike. I’ve had heavier bikes that I felt like got pushed around more by the wind than the Rebel. That said, I don’t think I could have made the trip without a windscreen. While I was breaking it in before the trip, I did some test runs at highway speed. It’s manageable for a while, but it’s a workout before long. I got myself a Givi with universal mounting hardware, took the wind off my chest, and the ride was super comfortable in that respect. Even with my knees catching quite a bit of wind, making me a sort of mini-starfish, that was really not uncomfortable at all on the trip. Last, this bike’s gonna need a new seat, for me at least. Maybe not necessary for anyone who doesn’t have degenerate hips. I used a saddleman gel seat-pad and found that barely adequate dealing with potholes and general saddle-soreness. A lot of that may also be down to carrying my luggage on my back. Take from it what you will. I’ll be getting a Mustang saddle as soon as they make one for the 1100. So, I went into this trip poorly equipped and physically disadvantaged. But I made it, and over 2000 miles. The ergos are non-traditional for a cruiser, but it’s nothing in my opinion to keep you from a long road trip. It won’t be the most comfortable ride you can get, it’s not a Road King or a Goldwing. But it’s capable with a windscreen, floorboards, and somewhere to stow your luggage (unlike my bare-ass rear fender.) All in all, there’s just such incredible value in this bike. And I’m gonna stop right there, otherwise I’ll gush all day about the new love in my life. One thing to add, this bike is super nice for when you have to make a pass on the highway. Cruising at highway speed, the engine RPMs run right near the peak torque RPM. Somebody barreling up behind you and you got a line of semis you want to pass real quick? Twist and go like they’re just standing there...

    @@altortugas5979 Thanks for the detailed reply, and well said! I have the same opinions about my DCT... it needs a windscreen, a rear rack, and either highway pegs or floorboards. I've already solved my seat discomfort issue by adding the AirHawk Cruiser R Large... that made a world of difference for the OEM seat. I'll be upgrading to a different seat when they become available. I've been very impressed with the DCT so far. That 72 lb-ft torque peak right in the cruising sweet spot is super fun and addictive to play with! It also handles crosswinds very well, so that's surprising to me considering the bike's weight. I haven't found a suitable windscreen yet, but I'm still on the prowl. My local dealer is hopeful for an April 16th delivery date for the accessories, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The rear rack is sorely needed... I hate wearing backpacks for any length of time. Cheers! 👍 --QM

    Your front brake has more stopping power but under certain situations you may want to apply the rear first or more than the front, especially on hazardous road conditions. I really recommend taking the MSF course but maybe if you can find someone with a small CC bike work with them on the friction zone so you can get that down. The MSF courses here provide the bikes you can not pick or bring a bike to the class...

    Bet it would've accelerated to 70 faster had it been in 3rd That 70 to 90 didn't look too good If you're a naked/superbike rider not wanting to give up lean angle......34* is not going to satisfy them

    Maybe but I left it in Auto to see how it did, no and it is limited to 99 mph apparently so it might even be limiting acceleration once you get close to that speed that was standard mode also I think.

    @@RidingintheOzarks up late tonight?, I'm up cause I'm at work...... another thing is maintenance, the pipes run under the frame, so you need crotch rocket tools to hold the bike up and my crotch rocket it is impossible to change the filter without putting oil on the pipes, have to remove body parts to get to the filter, that sucks
