► Our Website: mechaniclifestyle.com
Hey guys, in this video we will show you how to remove and replace front strut assembly on Honda Odyssey van. If your front strut shocks need to be removed then this video should help you. We demonstrated how to remove and replace the front right strut shock on a 2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L but it should cover the whole generation from 2005 to 2010. It should be about the same procedure for the front left strut as well. Check out the Honda Odyssey playlist here: bit.ly/2rNzSh1

    Thank you so much for the video and giving me the confidence to change out the struts! Honda dealer wanted ~$3000 to change out one front strut, lower control arms and rear 'strut' which was actually a shock. Bought $600 worth of parts from Rock Auto and completed the work today. This video helped out big time- especially using the silicone on the 14 mm socket! Great idea that worked flawlessly! Thanks again.

    Thanks for this great video. I'm a novice DIY-er (a weekend warrior who is too cheap to hire this kind of job out). I got this done, though it did take 6 or 7 hours. My jobs tend to take 2-3 times longer than they should, due to my mistakes. My sway bar link bolts wouldn't come out with the impact wrench. As another person commented below, it doesn't hurt to buy a pair of sway bar links in advance from Rock Auto ($5 apiece). That would have saved me an hour or two, as I struggled with getting the old ones off for a lot longer than I should have. I followed the silicone trick and it worked like a charm.

    Installed struts yesterday.About 2 and half hrs.Silicone trick worked great.Driver side had to take out two plastic clips to get 3 Rd bolt off top mount. Couldn't get from top bar in way.lifted up plastic to get ratchet under without taking all of plastic cover off.Another thing we did leave last 22 bolt in until all 3 top mount r off.then slid out old slid in new.Thanks for video

    Hi. Just did my 2009 odyssey. Your silicon idea is awesome - i used a magnet to take it out. Using silicon to install the nuts for the top mount is so easy. It Really made the difference and saved a lot of time. Thanks so much for doing the video and sharing your techniques. Have a great day!

    CAUTION: when I did this on my Odyssey, the CV joint came out because I didn't support the wheel mount. That caused me an extra day of stress and the need to repack the CV joint, which was FAR worse than the strut replacement. Just be sure to support the wheel mount after you remove the lower strut bolts. Best of luck.

    This happened to me too. I did support it on the second strut and the cv joint still came apart. I think it was because my ball joints were so bad that the knuckle just wiggled around so much with no support. I have done dozens of struts. This has never happened to me before. What a nightmare.

    Hi, when I pulled the hub out of the strut at 3:25 it leaned back just as far as yours, but the inner CV joint rollers came out of the housing and now I can't get it back in. Why did this happen and how do I get the rollers back in the housing so that I can reattach the hub to the new strut.

    Hey, guys, do you recommend buying a complete strut kit with coil spring...or having a vocational mechanic with a shop remove the strut, so you can re-use the spring/housing? You'll see other vids from other mechanics, stating to avoid the complete strut kit from parts stores. 1 problem folks run into is the spring is different diameter on the aftermarket part, compared to your vehicle's OEM spring. Your video stopped before showing the "replacement"; you only showed "removal". Just wondering what happens after the removal, in your opinion. Thank you!

    Instead of using silicon, which is toxic and stays on your hands and makes everything slipery for at least 24hrs.... tear a small piece of shop towel and tuck it into the socket. It will hold it like the silicon, but without the mess. I use this method daily (Mechanic)

    I have a 2004 and had the struts done (quick struts): Here's my question: if the installation is done properly & there are no other front suspension issues, should you still experience a lot of road noise? It is about 30% better then it was, but you would think it should be pretty much gone or at leased the sound would be deadened. (the van also has newer tires). Thanks

    It could be your CV joint(s), they can wear out or be damaged by something getting into a rip in the rubber CV boot that protects the joint

  • @yangliang9121

    @yangliang9121

    6 жыл бұрын

    I hear a loud clank on a 2007 Ody with 150k during hard acceleration. I believe this is the electronic support at the rear of the engine. I imagine this since we had the transmission replaced and had the engine and transmission mounts replaced, except the electronic one. I have decided not to replace it atm. But this loud clank is not situational to the turning of the wheels. You should just check your CV joints with your hand for oil and dirt. I replaced both CV axles during a timing belt change that had been there for a long time without our mechanic saying a word about it.
