HONDA NC750X STOCK SEAT UPGRADE PART 1

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is a "how to" video on upgrading your stock seat for you Honda NC750X or "S" model for under £10 - ($15 ) .
It does involve a certain skill level in areas such as some metal work however all of this can be made by hand tools like a hacksaw, sharp knife and file.
This is part 1 where I explain how and why I am upgrading the seat and making a start on the metal work.
Part 2 will be up shortly (not even filmed it yet so I will have to make this work now part 1 is out there!!)

I simply raised the front of my seat by making another oversized bracket over the original one secured by the screws either side. The fixing tongue now sits over the original bracket secured by the new bracket over the top creating a new slot for the fixing tongue to slot into. It is easily removed to go back to standard fixing by simply unscrewing to new bracket. I no longer Slide forward on the seat and no modification to the seat was necessary. I also added extra thick rubbers to the ones attached to the front either side of the seat to stop sideways movement to compensate at the new high

Hi Roy, yes I considered this but I found it didn't didn't lift high enough. I wanted the seat to slope backwards and for that to happen it was going to be a big lift which left a gap in the seat so the seat had to be redone on the front. Your way would be a improvement but I wanted a seat that would be all day comfortable. Thanks for watching and your comment.

Very interesting, I look forward to seeing the finished article. Having taken my bike off the road for winter, last week I bought a ridiculously expensive Shad comfort seat (forward planning has never been my strong point). I have fitted it keeping the slope adjustment suggested by "Honda NC750X stuff" and it will be interesting to see how much better it will be. Honda should hang their heads in shame for fitting such a terrible seat to such a fantastic bike. Last summer I also fitted the dropped pegs suggested by NC750X stuff along with bar risers and they transformed the bike for long distance riding. Small changes make big improvements in rider comfort. Best wishes.

Yeap your right. Infact so many honda seats are pretty rubbish. Hopfully I can make this work and it's already a pleasure to sit on now. I like the nc750x channel. Good stiff on there and he has a lovely way of filming things.

The original 750S seat was comfortable. The latest - 2018 version - is very comfortable, ridden it for four hours with no issues. The bars on the S are a bit lower so maybe leaning slightly forward takes some weight off the base of the spine. Local Honda dealer told me the X outsells the S by 25 to 1.

That 'Piece of metal' is known as Unistrut, and that one looks like the 41x21mm unslotted version. It is fantastically handy stuff, and can be used for all manner of DIY jobs, and is galvanised and just needs zinc primer on the cut edges for a long lasting finish.

For those of us in the US, Sargent makes a seat for this bike. I don't own an NC750X (yet), but I have the Sargent seat for my VFR800. It's a huge improvement over the original seat, I've ridden many hours, day after day with it with no discomfort. Looks sharp too.

Hello, looking forward to Pt. 2. For folks like me who do not have your capabilities I have a great suggestion: DSW upholstery in Hameln, Germany. He is a well respected and often recommended man in a german NC Forum. Great craftsman and an amazing price. If you tell him your problems he will fix them for you. It cost me about 180€. Not sure about his knowledge of english but he has a lot of happy customers.

Hi all ! We are struggling to get the best choices for our NC750X and I appreciate your work seems that it is an improvement. Still I'm wondering about filling the gaps left with something more "professional" so to say. Still some leather craftman could manage to make it less expresively than 450€ as Shad and Top Sellerie seats. In my case I am still trying to find solutions for the seat, rather I would invest in some equipment for the 'ass' confort such as gel pad or trousers with gel (foam) on the back.... However appreciate sharing this video ! Greetings!

Yes I know what you mean but infact I think it looks pretty good with the trim as you will see in part 2. It fits nicely inbetween the two seats aswell. I've had upholsters redo my existing bike seats and it's never worked however this for me so far works really well and SO Far dosent look out of place or butchered. Not to mention its cost nothing so far!

@@exeterrider I've had a Sargent seat (1150 GS) and the Corbin - for me the Corbin was instantly comfortable for all day riding and I never really got on with the Sargent so sold that. Seats are such a personal thing aren't they - one person will be fine with one and another person just won't. My mate rides Beemers and never had a problem with a stock seat - me - I never found one comfortable enough and one way or another always end up doing something to change it. The only bike I've ever owned where the stock seat was ok was a Harley Softail Heritage.

I really like your bike Ex-Rider but good grief - why on earth did they put the filler neck under the pillion seat? Who the heck would want it there (dumb idea #86B). All of that aside, the sloping forward seat issue also exists on the Honda ST1300 / Pan European. It basically rams the “boys” into the back end of the fuel tank. Honda must have some really goofy people in their ergo department (likely transfers from the Fuel System Layout Unit).
