I commute a 100 miles round journey a day on my NC750X. The seat leaves me happy to be home for sure, but it's definitely not the worst seat I've been on.

I love your videos, they are rare nowadays. I rode the NC750S for a month, Strange I never noticed that the seat was that bad. I noticed that the boring bike was so fun to ride and the under powered engine have plenty of torque at low end. I think my mind have so much fun with this boring slow under powered bike that he forget to complain about the seat or anything else. 😂

I modified the seat on my NC750X just by filling the front slope with comfort foam, to make the overall seat less inclined, while keeping the original fabric, to preserve the aesthetic of the bike. Actually I also added a bit of foam in the rear part of the seat, but it is subtle. I raised over an inch (about 3cm) in the front. This allows me to stay for longer periods of time exactly in the spot where I like to seat, and reduces knee pain (which is gone now), because my legs no longer have to fight to push my body back. It was cheap, I spent about 30 euros at a local business (I'm in Portugal). Absolutely no brainer. Forget about buying comfort seats, they're way too expensive.

Here in L.A., riding on the freeway at 75+mph, the seat gets uncomfortable in about an hour. The whole ride kind of does, with the wind blast, road and wind noise. If we had roads more like yours, yes, i could see riding for hours, under 60 mph, getting great mileage on the NC...

Just did a 10 day 6 country trip. Threw a Airhawk imitation on and was fine. I take it off for daily riding. I’ve done 8+ hour days on the stock seat though and well it’s not worse than a lot of other bikes.

I bought a air hawk for mine. Found the seat uncomfortable Now sadly just traded it in unable to ride it, to painful due to a worn out hip joints. The Honda Nc750X is the longest I've ever owned a bike very sad to see it go. So now got a Harley with forward controls must more comfortable. I just want to keep biking as long as I can.

Thanks for the review. I did a 1025 km trip a while back and I tried a piece of sheepskin on the seat. It made a big difference but after 8 hours I think any seat will hurt. It was an endurance run and we had 12 hours to finish. Made it in 11 hours 30 minutes and I was not even that tired. Lot of superbikes took part as well and although they rode a lot faster than me a lot finished the same time as me because they had to stop a lot more. Sometimes I wish the NC could be a bit faster but then I remind myself why I bought it in the first place. It's not about how fast you get there but how much you enjoy getting there. Keep up the nice channel.

It's fine for 100 or 200 miles. If you're doing 200+ miles every day for a month you might notice it. Gel seat toppers work wonders for extreme comfort. One huge contributing factor not mentioned here is what you choose to wear between your arse and the seat.. My jeans or textiles can get a bit uncomfortable on longer journeys, but my leathers tend to keep my rear-end comfy all day!

Lifting the front part of the seat - as you showed in one of your clips - does help allot on this bike. I followed your advice ( THANKS ALLOT 👍 ) and did about the same thing. IT HAS become more comfortable. 👍👍👍 Actually that's what was done on the 2021 model - they "flattened" the sit out, and it is better than the 2017-2020.... It is not yet the new Suzuki DL1050 XT ( I find it pretty comfortable ), but it is fine.

  • @IdealBike

Good point on the video with moving and changing the position on the bike for more comfort. Still the design of the seat it's the main issue, it doesn't let you more room to play around with your body positioning, the shitty slope keeps you there or pushes you forward. I've changed mine 11,000 Km ago and I can see no reason to go back to standard seat. Thankfully they've changed the seat design for the new NC750X and it's way much better, even though the composition it's barely the same. Greetings!

I put a Sargent seat on, it's not the padding that's an issue, it's the tipping forward, I plan on doing the modification to fix the tipping, and hopefully that will make a difference. I do find that I need to take a break every hour to hour and a quarter, just to move around.

It's fair to say that Honda could have done a bit more research into the seat on this bike. Many years back I had an Aprilia Caponord, a wonderful big, heavy version of the NC750X. I once rode it from John O' Groats at the very top of Scotland to my home in London, stopping only for fuel and Mars bars and took me around 17 hrs. I expected to be walking like John Wayne when I finally got home, but no, I was fine. However, 100 miles or so on my NC750X leaves me with the feeling like I'd 'bent over in the showers of a maximum security prison'!

Having no built in padding and long legs (and a KZ550Ltd seat that I believed killed my bum years ago) the only seat I seem to tolerate longer than an hour or two is a Russell Day Long. 6-700 miles are no brainers. A stock Moto Guzzi Griso seat was the worst for me in recent history. An after market K&H high seat for the CB1100 proved to look good, but murder on the bum. RDL has been ordered. With seats, your mileage will vary. Some guys are able to sit on anything for days on end and not be bothered. sigh....

Concerning 'seat-comfort' - I think there will be as many different answers as there are many different people ... so WHAT SHOULD HONDA DO? ... In my opinion they should offer different 'qualities' of NC750X seats! ... WHY? ... they sell their bikes all around the world ... BUT ... people are different here and there ... an everage Japanese/Chinese guy is smaller and lighter in weight than an everage European guy or American guy ... AND ... some guys like to ride more sportiv, some guys like to travel more relaxed ... some guys ride only short distances, some guys like long-distance-touring ... so this is the reason why we have After-Market/Second-Market products! ... today it is easy to find an alternative on the WWW ... and if not ... find a manufacture which does it by hand according to your special needs! ... RIDE SAFE and WITH JOY!

I've sat on more comfortable electric chairs It's a terrible seat and the budget nature of the bike doesn't forgive that I'm afraid I've ridden cheap Indian and Chinese bikes that had much better saddles The owner shouldn't have to chock up the front of it to compensate for Hondas crap slopey design and the foam is way too hard with no give in the cover (which is part of the problem) - just a simple layer of softer foam would fix it for about what, £10 all in extra on the bike? It seems that Honda expects these motorcycles will be ridden almost like a naked bike, where the wind pushes the rider back in the seat, counteracting the forward slope. Many owners, myself included, put up a large wind screen, but now the seat pitches you forward. If I where to change anything about the seat, I would make it a little narrower in the front, as it bunches my paints and causes some chafing if I'm not careful to stop and rearrange at the first sign of discomfort. As I stated elsewhere, I ride a leather Brooks bicycle saddle. I learned from cycling that you need a firm saddle that supports your sit bones, or a full on couch like seat that spreads your whole weight across your whole bottom. Anything in-between, and you gradually sink into the padding until your sit bones bottom out, while the middle padding pushes up against soft tissue in an unpleasant manner. One of the reasons I dislike cruser motorcycles is I can't stand up and air it all out!

Yep. Lots of bikes with hard seats. None of the dirt bikes I have owned (apart from a KLR 650 - if you can call that a dirt bike) was built for comfort.

Well, when it comes to seat height, many sensible riders/uTubers would mention their height and inseam so that we can imagine ourselves on that bike. On the other hand, as regards the seat comfort, I have not seen any biker providing further information about their rear-end anatomy ; we need a point of reference, don't we. It seems some sort of creative, yet tasteful demonstration of the matter is in order. To further prove the point, any reasonable person would agree that a bike seat feeling lean and mean by our friend Woody Allen, would feel plush and down right comfy by annoying Kardashians; I know, life is not fair at all. So, what if you become the great pioneer on this and show others how it can be done. I bet you would be the only one on the planet embarking upon this.... Measurements are our friends. Civilizations could not exist without inventing measurements. Thanks for the video. I will be getting my NC in a couple of weeks (after waiting for an eternity, 6 months that is and in Dubai).....Cheers

Ha! Very funny. Sadly empirical measurement seems to have nothing to do with how we each react to the same thing. So my opinion is in reality worthless - much like most of my vids 🤔

@@AfricaTwin-Stuff Well dear, your videos are based on common sense, which does not seem to be that common nowadays, especially when the subject has a cult like existence, motorbike world that is. Cheers and be safe

Oh Honda, cutting corners to keep the price competitive. Put on a Corbin seat in the first 500 miles and it change the character of the bike. Stock seat in the trash.

Just wear a pair of padded bicycle underwear on long trips. Problem solved for £10.

Bike in the world, most horrible uncomfortable seat in the world. WTF were they thinking?!?!?!

I think you must have lived a sheltered life. There are heaps of bikes with worse seats that cost two or thee times the NC. 😁 I’m happy with the seat comfort.

@@AfricaTwin-Stuff I dont really live a sheltered life. 42 year riding, i lost count of the bikes i owned, 70k km on my nc, by far the worse seat design and confort i encountered.
