HONDA NC750x DCT "THIS BIKE IS SO MUCH FUN" GREEN LANE

Well as good a review as you will get from the BirchwoodBiker
I found a great little trail, not advised in the wet or if your not confident
on any motorcycle

Mate, I love the style of your videos. Just a chap riding a bike and casually chatting about stuff. No annoying music, no nonsense. And I do love your accent. Greetings from Germany, keep up the good work, and safe travels always.

As nice as the Transalp is, it’s fitted with tubed tyres meaning roadside repairs become a lot more complicated. Plus it’s not available with DCT. It frustrates that Honda made the NC ride by wire but still don’t offer cruise control. It will come one day!

Great video….an “attaboy” for not using music. Instead using just your relevant commentary. Wish other vloggers were like you!

I miss that sound! My bike is parked at the cabin for the winter already and I'm without it. I find it a TON of fun. I look forward to the grocery errands, because you can get a gallon of milk plus a whole lot more in that frunk, and the way I drive, I get 80 m / US gallon. I don't speed in any vehicle nor hooligan, so this is a perfect bike for me. I'm 6'3", long legs, and it feels a bit cramped. However, I did 1,600 miles on mine in 2-3 weeks and didn't bother to install the handlebar risers nor drop footpegs I bought, so it wasn't *that* cramped. It benefits greatly IMO from putting an OEM centerstand on it right away, and I also installed a thunderbox, a 3-port USB charger inside the frunk, and I ran a power lead out the right side for easy battery-tender hookup. Seat is a little rough on a skinny, unpadded butt like mine, but I put a cheap mesh cover on that breathes (not much extra padding at all) and just the airflow helps the undercarriage. I did 230 mi day or 2 with plenty of ride left in me. The DCT is amazing. I have never once said "I wish I had a clutch lever," either on gravel roads nor doing slow-speed maneuvering. The low-end pickup is great, you never have to wring it up to buzzing to make speed, and the engine and exhaust note are quiet but beefy. It's fun and sensible.

Love the motorbike NC750 is the best bike I've owned so far, 85mpg who can complain at that, but I Just traded it in for an NT 1100 hopefully I havent made a big mistake but so far liking it. Like your videos perfectly clear and the sound is very good. Explanation very clear and precise. I remember dropping a C70 in the Manchester Ship canal near Parbold. Thanks for sharing

This bike is perfect for 9800$ usd i don't want honda to change anything that would change the price, maybe they could offer a different trim package, but definitely still keep this affordable basic model

Hi, great video..I've got a question to ask. Where is the USB charging post located on this bike? I've got a quad lock mount the same as you have and I'd like to have my mobile charging at the same time for nav.

The competition on the slow ride this year was immense, 33 seconds last year would have put you in the running for winning it. Not sure if it was you I spoke to at the start of the Friday ride, it might have been one of the other NC riders, I was a little surprised to see so many (and CB500X riders). I took my 750S out to Austria on a camping trip a few years back, and yes, the fuel tank under the rear seat is a pita if you have a bag on, but the frunk more than compensates in my opinion. I think the weight of the tank at the rear makes a massive difference when 'man-handling' on uneven ground.

Yeah, they were very slow this year. There was a Norwegian chap (I think) who got to 40 seconds early on, can't remember what he was riding. I think the top box and bag both have their pros and cons, but carrying both is an issue for fueling.

I agree with a lot of your observations - I had a 2012 NC700X manual for 6 years, trading up to a 2019 750X DCT, I saw the latter as a gradual development of the first model, a little more power and a more comprehensive rider display. My 2019 DCT was stolen from the street in early June and I had to source another 'bike quickly as I was leading a ride-out on an International Rally later that month. It never occurred to me to choose anything other than an NC but had to settle for a used 2021 manual model. I would have preferred a DCT but couldn't find one in time. The exhaust on ths 2021 model does sound better! To keep the price of the NC range competitive, I think Honda should avoid going for more power and twin discs on the front - isn't this 750 Hornet territory? I'm 5' 11" so the bike isn't too cramped. The instant throttle response is welcome also but I'm still adjusting to the Modes....

Hi, if you go into your menu, you can change the Honda name on shut down to your own personalised six digit word. When touring, I don’t use a top box. I go for the Kriega dry pack on the rear rack, together with Oxford soft panniers, I can mount everything far enough back that refuelling is not a problem and I can mount more using cargo netting and strapping. I see you went for the same crash bars, better than the 2 piece Honda OEM. I anybody is interested, go to Pyramid plastics. Like the Denim blue colour.

Do you need a rack to keep the Oxfords off the rear tire? I have some cheap soft drybag panniers, and I could easily change their rigging to just hang off the grab handles rather than straddle the pillion seat (so fueling would be simple) but no matter how they hang, I'm concerned they'll bounce inward and hit the rear tire at times and get abraded open. I don't really want to put an entire rack on to deal with that. I'm thinking in winter I may just fabricate something to mount under the grab handles, a mini-frame for each side that just stops them from moving inward. I could make that from carbon fiber pretty easily.

@@SethJayson Hi Seth, I’ve bungee cords also to pull at the bottom of the bags, make sure you’ve still got plenty of clearance when the bike is loaded and your sat on it, I’ve damaged mine not taking that into account.

Based on watching several videos about the NC750 and my personal experience, the frunk is too small to fit most helmets. It is a huge disappointment to me since it would be so nice to be able to put it away when I go out and about. Come on Honda! An extra vertical half-inch would make the difference.

i had the 1st gen NC. The ground clearance was cool, but I do like being able to get both feet flat on the ground. the old one was lighter weight too but the new one is great. needs cruise control - that's the only real con wish I had the option to feather a clutch sometimes but I'm nitpicking center stand standard would have been nice

The Transalp needs the DCT. "As fast as possible, and as slow as necessary." Yeah, I wouldn't begin to know how to start a youtube channel, and at 61 years, what would be the point?

It would take much worse ground to damage the NC, and just a bit of fun, but it has 100% road tyres now, which is where it will stay👍👍👍
