Honda Mower Drive Belt Mechanism and Axle Removal

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I remove the rear axle and drive mechanism for a Honda HRN 216 Lawnmower with the GCV 170 engine. In my case, the drive belt got jammed in the belt guide, but this would be the same procedure for changing out a worn drive belt. In addition, it give a nice look at how the self propelled drive function on these mowers work.
As an aside, I have really liked this mower a lot. It does an incredible job cutting, mulching, and bagging, and has plenty of power. As a bonus, it also seems quieter than previous mowers I've used.

Well thought through and really well-explained and presented. Thanks for an excellent video. I recently bought an older Honda self-propelled - HRA214. The rear wheels are bad and super expensive if you can even find them. I'm thinking about eliminated the self-propelled mechanism and using generic wheels. Any thoughts you might have and are willing to share would be appreciated.

I have the same problem with my HRN 216. I ordered wheels all around. Then I found a redneck solution on KZread. I went to my bike shop and they GAVE me some old knobby bicycle tires. I cut them to length and used short screws to attach them to the rear wheels. I spent probably two dollars in screws instead of $66 on four tires. Hope this is helpful.

You have tipped your mower over on the wrong side… never tip towards the carburetor…!
