That is impressive. Those track driven snowblowers have much better traction, and breakthrough capability than wheeled ones do. Plus they are way more directionally stable. Thing I'm most impressed about is the lack of clogging when the snow is over the top of the auger housing.

In conditions like that, the hydro drive really shines. Honda really has the track drive systems down pat. Great video.

I retired my 30 year old Honda HS 80 last year and bought the new 13 horse version - what a beast. In 30 years the old one never gave me any grief just normal maintainance - but the auger and propeller where worn out. When I purchased the HS- 80, my neighbours gave me the crap about that little hp engine compared to theyr 13 horse or more Ariens, Stiga and whatever Brigs & Stratton powered blower that comes to mind. That little 8 horse Honda outperformed them all. They where constantly having issues whilst the Honda performed flawelessly. So - when retiring the old, a new era have begun. I’m still on the trone - now with the new Honda 13 horse.

Yeah even the mechanical transmissions were pretty good, so long as you changed gears before engaging clutch. I thought Briggs powered blowers was pretty good, until I owned one (mind you, my first, and it was pre-used), doesnt throw the snow as far as I'd like, and oil seal failed. My brother got a used 6 series Honda with hydrostatic drive and boy do I want one. I have a tractor for the main driveway, so the smaller blower is just for walkways, have changed the seal, I'll get a few more years out of it, then replace it with a 6-series Honda as well.

I have a 38 year old Honda HS 50 Snow Blower that still starts on the second pull even after sitting for a whole year. The only thing I have had to do is replace a belt, shear bolt and a leaking float valve. Then there is my 18 year old Honda HS928TAS that I use only whenever we get over a foot of snow. Although it has electric start, these 73 year old arms can still get it started with 2 pulls. I have close to 30 pieces of equipment and quality is always at the top of my list. Honda's can't be beat.

Nice video man. I had to deal with the same amount of snow, but only had my small 24" Troy Built snow blower. It wasn't as graceful as yours made it through the snow, but it still got the job done. Even the chute on mine was below snow level a lot of the time and the end of the driveway was more of a struggle forward and back several times to make it.👍

Have worked a blower for years, with six feet of snow being its greatest challenge. Two things: the auger should be greased at least once every season. There is a receptacle for the grease in the center of the shaft. Very important. Secondly I have found that if I keep the blower spout pointed lower than higher the machine doesn't have to work so hard to blow the snow away from you. Have fun!

  • @leezamarie7980

All wheel blowers tend to do this. Blowers with track do have their pivot point far more in the back and don't climb up that quickly. But on uneven ground the blower is more lickly to get caught on the ground. To avoid this a continous height adjustment is necessary (Honda blowers with tracks do have this feature except for the smallest HSS655).

Cost me about $2800 5 years ago. My 16 year old Honda 928WAS I got for $1700; $500 cheaper then local shops and no one had it at that time as it was all sold out in MA. Found one in NH and transported back that 16 years ago.

How’d you get it to go with no hands?

This Honda 928 is unbelievable; left hand "clutch" propels and right "clutch" enable augur. One hand on the drive clutch and the augur will remain enabled until you release the drive clutch.

@RYAN You are correct! At the 2:41 mark ... he is just moving the forward and backward drive stick. The left handle showed the "not engaged" drive handle "trigger". I don't see any ties like velcro ties engaging the trigger on the left handle. Maybe a feature I don't know about on the Honda?

It looks like there's a zip tie on the drive handle. Can see at time 8:51.

My driveway is real steep and the wheels on the large simplicity are not cutting it, might consider one of these, but they are so pricy

Too bad you can't program that thing to blow, sit on the deck, sip whiskey and watch the snow fly...
