I live in sc and we got 4 " once this year, so I'm not sure how I ended up watching this snowblower video but I couldn't bring myself to stop! Hondas are amazing, I've never seen a snowblower in action but had no idea it would projectile vomit snow at such a height or speed. When you was down beyond the telephone pole it hit me how close it looked to an old steam engine locomotive rolling down the tracks with the mountains in the background. Very cool machine and location..

I went thru 13 inches of snow here in Chicago with my dads Crafstman 179cc 4 stroke OHV w/ electric start snowblower and it went flawless thru it. All this winter Im using it and it runs perfect. Had it for 6 years and keep it in the basement. Its not as big as yours but it does get the job done. For a snowblower like yours, I can see if i was living way up north somewhere and getting 3 to 6 feet of snow regularly. Would love to have a big snowblower like yours but it would be overkill here in Chicago.

+krobak47 Have you tried the impeller modification? A lot of people have posted videos of them using rubber cut from a truck mudflap which they screw onto the impeller blades, on any kind of snowblower, creating zero space between the impeller and the chute. The difference is pretty dramatic. I have NOT done that to this snowblower, but the tolerances are already pretty tight on a Honda. I will try it someday.

He probably has an impeller kit on his. I have a 36" with tecu 14hp and just put one on this year..... I have had complaints 3 houses over now.. lol well no, but its a very impressive difference. Its tolerances were pretty lousy so it was quite a huge change for mine. Secret is to use the break bars and do half swipes, let it have a good source of air into the impeller and it will become wonder winterland for a hundred feet.

I am finding that snow blowing manufacturers are getting better. Ariens, Honda, Toro and Club Cadet are very competitive now. I like my tracked Honda which is great with traction and riding over drifts or streets to get to the driveway. The Toro is a good deal with clog free shutes and dependable motors. My Honda 13/32 has shear pins that break. I go through about 4-5 a year which is a nuisance but my new Toro 14/32 has a safety shut off and no shear pins. That is such a time saver. Serious snow removal requires a snow blower back up. In my case if one of my blowers goes down I am pretty screwed. The back up is a life saver. Using an atv with a blade will beat up your bike in no time. Small enclosed cab tractors like Kubota are really expensive. In Canada, one with a cab, shovel and a blower on the back will run north of $30k. I looked at the Mahindra with the same features and it costs $27k. But the quality does not meet that of the Kubota.

Only problem I have had with it was breaking sheer pins(grade 8 bolt has been holding for 18 years) and on year 17 I lost 1st and 2nd gear. 3 жыл бұрын

@@joemartinsimonmaurice6164 Well, on lesser snowblowers the tolerances between the impeller and the housing are much more sloppy, so snow and slush can get missed or not fully propelled out of the chute. The modification is putting heavy duty rubber on the impeller blades to seal up the gap. By doing so, you are also extending the diameter of the impeller so it also propels the snow at a higher speed, but sealing the gap is the big thing.. Crappy snowblowers see a 2 or 3 times difference in how far they throw it and it prevents clogging, which never happens on a Honda anyway. I expect it to throw it farther, but it probably won't be as radical a difference as a crappy snowblower gets. I have ordered high impact and high tensile strength smooth 3/8 thick rubber and am now waiting for the stainless steel flatbar, for the pieces that clamp it on. I am using two stainless steel nuts and rounded headed bolts to hold it on. I bought a 1 foot long drill bit to drill the 1/4 holes in the impellers. You need to pop off the 3 bolts that hold on the chute, so you can reach down inside, but that takes just a few seconds to do. You don't have to use stainless, but hey, this is my Honda we are talking about! ;-) I don't want it to rust up and hold snow, I'd rather it stay shiny and slippery.

What do you mean by really annoying? You mean you have to use your arm to aim the chute one way or the other? Use it or lose it. If you buy one from Canada, they have a battery electric start, electric steering, electric chute control, electric angle (downpressure, level or floating). Don't ask me why, but they didn't offer these versions of the snowblowers when I got mine in the US, but that might have changed, since I saw the 13 inch Honda Hybrid one last weekend.

Most snow blowers can handle the light powdery snow but the real deal breaker is the heavy wet snow. My Honda 13/32 has always worked well with both types of snow and I also appreciate the quiet motor with the Honda. Last year I bought my Toro 14/32 which is a big bad boy and it has been very good with all types of snow. It cost about $800 less than the Honda as well. I live in a part of Canada that sees huge amounts of snow and with global warming most of the snow storms are now followed by rain. It makes snow blowing miserable and difficult. The Honda track version I have is great for getting the blower over deep snow where I don't need to blow. That is a fabulous perk. My new Toro is so large and heavy that getting from point A to B requires that I cut a path. I just ordered from Toro the Electric snow shovel 60 v rechargeable. This should work well in conditions where either of my snow blowers are overkill. Hand shovelling is a danger now that I am getting older. So the electric shovel will be a wise investment. Worth looking into if the snow fall is a few inches and the the area to clear is not too big, ie. sidewalks, stairs or decks.

Have you done the impeller mod to any of your blowers? Mine is stock in this video, but I have since done it and it throws ever farther, especially wet snow. Just curious what age you are that you consider shoveling dangerous.

@@assmunch1 No mods to my Honda. I'm a slightly overweight 59 year old with a family history of heart disease who works in an office all day long. Slinging wet heavy snow in the winter by shovel in cold air is an invitation to meet the grim reaper.

Yeah, I'm about 11 years older than you, but I'm a runner and fitness nut, but I never need to shovel any snow, because I have no obstacles in the way that prevent me from doing it all with my Honda.

@@assmunch1 Good to hear you have taken control of your physical health. Men still need to be careful. The cold air and exertion is not a good combination even with good health. The other activity that is a dangerous past time for men in middle age is pick up hockey. I have seen more weekend warriors who try to relive their younger years of glory get the stabbing chest pain and attack. Again, it is the dangers of the cold air. I still have to shovel steps and patios. Oh yes, also a walk way for the dog to do her business in the back yard. It is these shoveling activities that are menacing.

@@abouttime5000 Yeah, I hear ya. I regularly see the bad news in the paper of people who are much younger than me. I just put in a new Hybrid water heater that weighs 300 lbs and got it into my cellar without a scratch on it and did it alone. Painted my entire house with staging and ladders and did logging around my property, taking down about 100 trees of all sizes. I can still beat some of the high school kids in running races, so I'm doing ok. :-) Haven't missed a day of working out in more than 52 years!

@ragingLIAM It's funny, I have a friend who does that with one of her friends. Every few years, they swap countries for a year. She has always liked the snow, but she lived down under for a while and got spoiled. She finally got used to snow again and right now she is back tapping maple trees and boiling sap down to maple syrup for fun this time of year.

Honda put some r&d into their snowblowers.... They are expensive, but they are no joke.... commercial grade... My HS624 won't top the trees, but it will get 1/2 way there and for my small residential driveway, that is more than enough.

My brother has the HS928, also an amazing machine. Have you ever considered doing the impeller modification? Even though Hondas throw very far and never clog, I may do it just for the heck of it to see how much further it will go. I'm talking about where you mount rubber pads to the impeller to completely close the gaps between the impeller and the housing, so that no snow gets left behind and it throws it much further and never clogs on any snowblower. There are a ton of videos about it on KZread, and it makes a hell of a difference on regular snowblowers!
