Honda Electric Steering Code

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Finally scanning my electric steering code in my Honda Civic Si after two years of driving like this!! Code is DTC-EPS Control Unit Internal Circuit, (55_1). If any of you are battling this same issue and have fixed it, comment below and let me know please... I have a feeling I'm going to need a new EPS Module. Enjoy

I had the eps issues also. Did the same thing with the brights. Brought it to honda dealership and they replaced the module for about 1k. Didnt fix the issue though. Had a buddy help me out and he replaced the entire steering rack with one he found at pick apart. Its fixed now but im kinda waiting for the light to turn back on haha.

May have similar issue. While on the highway, steering was unstable (pulling left and/or right from time to time). But no EPS light on. Have code “35-03 EPS control unit internal circuit CPU”. Any ideas? Thanks!

@@brax3209 you can access the cables from bellow. The connector should be above the subframe rear end, near to the steering hack. I dont have any photos but it is very easy to find if you have the car on a lifter.

Hey bro, I had the exact same code on my 8th si via my forxwell scanner… turns out its really code 37-01 step up circuit blah blah…. Foxwell and innova scanner code#’s are coded wrong(foxwell correct definition wrong code and innova 5610 wrong definition correct code)… look up code 37-01 honda eps.. same definition but really code 37-01… I used a junkyard module and eps reset using that same foxwell fixed my issue… bet of luck and get that beast’s electric power steering back up to 100%

@@TheGerbsteve Hey bro. Have you tried resetting the eps module? Maybe this post will help www.8thcivic.com/threads/eps-reset.229514/ Or here's the reset procedure: 1. With the ignition switch OFF, bridge terminal # 4 and # 9 of the 16P Data Link Connector located under the dash on the driver's side. With vehicle on ground, set front wheels in straight ahead driving position. 2. Turn ignition switch ON. The EPS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds. Within 4 seconds of turning the switch ON, while the EPS indicator is on, turn the steering wheel 45° to left from straight ahead driving position, and hold steering wheel in position until EPS indicator goes off. 3. Within 4 seconds after EPS indicator goes off, return steering wheel to straight ahead driving position and release steering wheel. The EPS indicator comes on again 4 seconds after releasing steering wheel. 4. Within 4 seconds after EPS indicator comes on, turn steering wheel 45° to left again and hold it in position. The EPS indicator goes off after 4 seconds. 5. With in 4 seconds after EPS indicator goes off, return steering wheel to straight ahead driving position again and release steering wheel. The EPS indicator blinks twice 4 seconds after releasing steering wheel, indicating that DTC was released. NOTE: If EPS indicator does not blink twice, an error was made in the procedure and DTC was not erased. Turn ignition switch OFF, and turn ignition switch ON. The EPS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds. Within 4 seconds of turning the switch ON, while the EPS indicator is on, turn the steering wheel 45° to left from straight ahead driving position, and hold steering wheel in position until EPS indicator goes off. Turn ignition switch OFF after EPS indicator blinks twice. Remove jumper wire from DLC. Perform DTC code output operation, and be sure that code has been erased. This might help after checking for cooked wires and/or a bad ground connection.

Had the same issue on my fa5 theirs a wiring harness that connects to the eps and it lies on the header and it cooks the insulation of the wires , what I did was I cut the harness short and put heat shield on the harness and moved it away from the header and never had the issue since January when I did that.

I have the same problem on my son's 2012 civic with only 68K miles on it. I drove to autozone and advanced auto parts to see what the codes were. The handheld scanner read 61-11 and it wouldn't let me clear the code. I replaced the battery this morning and it didn't fix the issue. I'll replace the EPS if I can find a decent one. This sucks

I'm definitely not going to buy a new steering rack for $1,000 ++ because i heard of people replacing the rack and the issue just coming back. Only two things I'm going to try are cleaning the wiring and maybe replacing the eps module ($100) part. Wish you the best with yours

Hey guys update. So essentially I had to take my car to Honda for an overall diagnosis which you’re going to be looking at 70-160$ depending on the issue and time. Secondly there is apparently a part not sure if it’s a battery or within the battery(sorry I’m a young girl and know nothing about cars) but they said there’s something faulty and to replace it would be 900$. They also said that it’s very dangerous to drive with that light coming on and said eventually the car just won’t work or will be stalled on the road if the issue doesn’t get resolved asap. So overll it’s about a 1k fix. I decided to just go ahead and get it fixed and hopefully after tomorrow my car will be back to normal.
