The range on this is ridiculous, I have an iX40, its WLTP is 415km with a similar sized battery in a much larger vehicle with duel motors, over summer I achieved this multiple times including a best of 468km on a trip from where I live to Trondheim.

The Honda e:NY1 isn't a real a Honda product, it was engineered and is being manufactured by Dongfeng in China. So its a Dongfeng car with a Honda badge. Nothing wrong with Dongfeng cars, but they are not a Honda.

I just ordered myself one, its going to be my first electric car (been driving saab forever). They had a really good offer on some models here in Norway where you got the advance package including summer+winter tires and metallic paint for 299,999,- norwegian kroners. I added some extras like ceramic drop off, charging cables, interior mats, mud flaps etc and it came at a total of 318,500,- nkr wich i have to say is an excellent price for what you get.

Brilliant review and I love the laymen terminology you speak with. I have just ordered a ENY1 for my wife for March delivery, reason being, it will be our first EV and after reading about how old school (your words) it was to drive, I thought it would be a good introduction to the world of electric with no real shock to the system being 58 years of age. Another reason was that the dealership is very local to where we live and a friend that owns a Tesla is often making the 60 mile round trip to his dealer for software updates? I 100% agree with your opinion that Honda have come to the party late and should have made an impact more so, I personally would describe their effort as being the 'Grey Man', an old military term. My wife only travels approximately 20 miles per day and on the very odd occasion she may take a shopping trip which is approximately 80 miles round trip, this should be a good choice for her, at least I hope so or my 39 year marriage will be at risk....lol I look forward to watching some of your other reviews as to date this one has been far more in depth than any other I have seen, it's nice to hear someone providing real time feedback and honest opinion rather than just blurting our the provided company specification. Thank you again 🙂

For a transition to EVs for drivers used to more traditional brands/cars this will be a logical step. At least as a second car for more local trips exactly as you describe you and your wife's current situation. 👍 Thank you for tuning in and for your nice feedback. I always try to dig a bit deeper and make my reviews more consumer relevant and at the same time provide my insight from similar cars I have tested. 🙏

Range and charging really dont matter for most people, if they can charge at home. However, I strongly suggest leasing this car, rather than buying, because this car will not be sought after in a few years.

Totally agree and we have indeed leased the car, mainly due to the £8k reduction in the showrooms just a couple of months after its release. It shows that Honda are aware they have a bit of a white elephant and that their bad judgement of not coming to the party with a 'WOW' factor has resulted in them taking some drastic action. @@adrianguggisberg3656

Im sorry to be "that guy"... But that function is an EU requirement and is going to be standard in every car sold in europe (it is what it is i guess)... It IS possible to turn it of, but you have to turn it of BEFORE you start to drive. And you have to do it every time you restart the car and go for a new ride...

Top spec appears to start at £36k in UK, which isn't bad until you consider that this is a relatively small car. I like the size of this though - it's about the same dimensions as a Leaf, but with bigger wheels. Would be nice to down-spec the wheels to 17" to make it more efficient and less expensive to swap tyres. 61.9 kWh usable battery capacity, which is pretty good, but less than some of the competition in this price range. Hopefully the range in summer will be better though.

Thanks for the in depth review I have watched a lot of review videos around the eNY1, yours (obviously 😄), German ones, English ones, French ones (basically all the languages I speak 😅) and the conclusion is always the same : cool car, honestly built, but the charging part is kind of not the best. I mean, 10 to 80% in 45min, this is too much. For a long drive, which this car is normally made for as a family car, acceptable time would be an average of 30min, imho. And it's cold gating! WTF Imagine doing a 1000km drive, it will take ages.... 😐 And it's supposed to be made in collaboration with DongFeng, a Chinese brand which should do a good EV. I don't really understand the point here. I'm very sorry for Honda, but for the price point, you can buy way better, starting - again - with Tesla. I'm also watching videos from foreigners living in Japan, and surprisingly they are all saying that Japan is a pretty "behind the tech" country, very traditional and holding firm on things that we don't even do anymore in Europe. Which is a huge contrast with the Japan from the 80's and 90's, when they were way ahead everyone technology wise.
