390 did well. It has to rev high, which makes it harder for this type of riding. I’ve had both. Crf is my choice and what I still own.

390 is such an awesome bike. CRF300L was made for that dirt

The honda is better off road but its the tires that made the difference in the hill climb.

Yes. KTM had less agressive tire tread and more wear.

The honda is better offroad and the adventure is better on the road. Most people in dual sport world spend more time on the street

You are right. but if we had some off-roading skills the ktm 390 could be very capable.

Yes, and yes. But as dirt riding is significantly more difficult than street, getting a bike that does dirt very well is far more important

@captnhuffy I can see how that would be true for a beginner, in that case I'd say start on a CRF250L then

@@Partnerthedog can you also see how it would be true for someone spending 40 to 60% of their time in the dirt? Beginner or not, dirt time is hell’a more work and effort than road. A dirt bike on the road means going a bit slower. A street bike in the dirt means you’re screwed.

Seemed like you were losing traction on the rear wheel. Make sure to set your preload on the rear shock correctly for your sag and try softening the setting to allow it to maintain contact better. And do what you can with your body positioning to transfer some weight to the rear (I realize there's not much you can do on a steep incline but every little bit helps.)

Ok don’t panic, i’ve got a fix for that marshmallow soft KTM 390. It’s simple take off the gas cap and slip a Beta 390 RR-S underneath the gas cap then reattach. All your off-road woes are now gone. You’re welcome

@@LaineMoto not yet. Leaning towards the ktm tbh. Just a lot more comfortable imo. Hoping they make an adventure r version of the 390 with 21" wheel
