Honda CR250M kickstarter repair, will it run

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I discuss some of what is going on in the shop, then I get the Honda CR250 Elsinore back in the shop to repair the kickstarter. Then we check for spark, and check the kill switch will work. Then we proceed on to get fuel to the carburetor, then........will it run? Watch the video to the end to see.

    Sounds great Dale, nice and crisp as a race engine should. It was strange seeing my ugly mug on your TV, and my workshop here in England appearing over there in Montana. Thanks for the plug my friend. Best wishes, Dean.

    Hey Dean, yes it sounds pretty darn good to me. I am surprised since the outward appearance is so ruff. Yeah, it's always weird to see yourself on the TV. You are certainly welcome for the plug. Think I will do something like this for some of the other fellow KZreadrs that follow me and me them.

    I'd bet that we would have had a blast riding out in the sticks back in the early 70's had we known each other. My small group of friends from those days are all gone now. At least I still have the memories.

    Hey David, I know what you're saying man, a lot of the guys that I used to ride the woods with are gone too. I don't get out like I use to either, but still try to get out once and a while. But I am just positive we would have had a great time riding the woods fast, back in the day.

Yep, the movie with Steve was On Any Sunday. Honda didn't show up either till about 73 with the CR250, think may be Marty Tripes. I don't know would have to look it all up. Hi Bill and welcome to the channel, I hope you are an old dirt biker too. I have fun here and hope all the viewers are getting some entertainment and perhaps a good tip to help them maintain their old bike. I grew up working in a bike shop in the early 70's. It was so fun watching the older guys modify, maintain, and race ready their bikes. I just take a lot of what I remember and add it to my projects. I still have a lot of the magazines from then and I go through those pages to get ideas and implement some of the info found there, to my projects. Plus, the resto projects, and just general day to day repair and maintenance. The Elsinore will be coming into the shop soon for its face lift. Hope you will stick around for that and all the other stuff. Thanks for hanging out in the shop with me.

I have bought many from there, the shipping is quick but expensive. But I can get two rims for about 85 dollars plus about 100 bucks shipping, so about 100 per rim. Really not that bad. Hi Dale, Have you ever run Benzol 2 stoke oil ? If so what do you think about it? I do have a question for you related to another one of your bikes. I just bought a 1972 yamaha at1 125. So far the only downside to it is the clutch pull at the lever is hard. I think it is just the cable but it has no outside access to replace the cable, the cable goes into the left side case. Can not find a shop manual that shows how to replace it. They only refer to the clutch assembly. Any suggestions or a video that I may have missed on your other videos? Thanks, Larry

  • @montana2strokeracer

    @montana2strokeracer

    8 ай бұрын

    Hi Larry, no I have never run Benzol. I understand it is fully synthetic, I am an old school guy and not really sold on fully synthetic oils. Lot of folks will not agree with me, and that's ok. I much prefer castor-based oils for racing and petroleum-based oils for oil injections systems. But that is just me, I will never criticize what oils others use, because it is such a hot topic. These are choices we all have to make on our own. I have not done a video dedicated to changing a clutch cable on a AT2, but I know I have included that topic in some of the engine install videos of the AT1's and AT2's. You just pull the side cover off and you will see where it goes. You loosen the cable at the bars, and then push the cable at the side case down from the lever and pull out the round retainer that slides into the lever and over the clutch cable, then the cable can be withdrawn and replaced in the reverse manner. I may see if I can put together a short video on the procedure, I did one recently on the adjustment procedure. Sounds like a good topic for the Wednesday video. Thanks for hanging out in the shop with me.
