does you cr250 have any engine up grades or is it all stock parts im just wondering cuz mine has been fully rebuilt engine that has been up graded so its has a lot more power I just finish up getting everthing installed and I rejetted the carb properly so I haven't got to get it out yet this season thanks for reading hope to hear from you soon

Wow, not too shabby. The newer crf 250 (4 stroke) has a top speed of 74 mph. But your much older CR250 is 78mph. I'm guessing a brand new one, or at least a newer one would go at least 80 mph or perhaps a little more. I think in general, 2 strokes are faster top end, and 4 strokes have more low end torque at low rpms. That's why you can slow down and turn into a berm and come out accelerating all while not changing gears and with a two stroke you have to keep those rpms up. Both fun, but in different ways.

@@Sr5taco You know, you may be right. There are so many variables, it's hard to really say. Like for example, gearing has a lot to do with it as well. Like the Honda CR 500's and Kawasaki kx 500's are 500 cc two strokes. They only top out around 80-85 mph because they're geared for the motocross tracks where you really never go much faster than 50 or 55 mph. But if you put longer gears those 500cc two strokes could hit close to 100 mph I think. And the Kawasaki kdx 200 is a two stroke Enduro that has a top speed over 80 mph and not as fast as a kx 250 two stroke, because of the gearing.

my honda crm250ar goes 120kmh with 13/50 spockets but with 15/48 it will go about 170kmh

What gearing does it have?

How come the bike you use most is way in the corner?

It's a motocross bike isn't geared or designed for top speed. Always fun to find out though. Many bike from the era were limited to 78 so at least it still has it.

I owned one in 87 and out in the desert I went off basically a really steep hill (cliff for all practical purposes) that I assumed was just a somewhat doable down hill.....I had the bike tapped out which I had always guessed was mid 60smph but okay 77 makes sense for a CR. I did NOT "crash" I totally collapsed the suspension and broke the front wheel not to mention my NOSE when my full faced helmet collapsed into the crossbar! The speed is what saved me well that and the long travel decent suspension.plus it was a sandwash so deep sand which no doubt helped...on an early 70s MXer like I originally had? LOL I might have died! Definately would have gone to the hospital and the bike would have been SEVERELY ben to crap given they only had 7" front and 4" rear travel!

My friend had a street version with the odometer and I took it up to 110kmh. My old 80cc scooter with a bigger jetted carby and sports exhaust would do 50 mph. You'd expect higher that 80 mph when sinevif the electric bikes are doing that now.

I tested my modified 2018 Husqvarna TC 250 two stroke. I weigh around 115 kg (250 pounds) with all my riding gear on. Top speed gps 119 km/h (74 mph) with 14-49 (stock 14-50). It has red powervalve spring, modified airbox, modified Mikuni TMX 38 carb, Boyesen Rad valve, modified cylinderhead, FMF Fatty exhaust pipe and Pro Circuit R304 shorty silencer. It revs much higher than before when it was stock. I think a stock 2018 TC 250 top speed is around 68 mph as it is with so short gearing. I will put soon 15-48 to get longer gearing. Top speed gps with that gearing should be 130 km/h (80.8 mph). I use always 32:1 premix in my bikes. Your CR 250 is fast. Is it stock and with stock gearing front/rear sprockets? Please don’t do that kind of long engine braking with any two strokes. These things need lubrication from premix. Pull clutch in and have some throttle ”blips” to cool down and lubricate your piston/cylinder after those pulls.

I tested my modified Husqvarna TC 250 with 15-48 sprockets (stock is 14-50). Top speed 133,6 km/h = 83 mph. Fast enough and still accelerates like crazy 😎👍.

I had a ktm 125 exc that pulled 100mph longer gearing than sx I was giving it full beans overtaking a line of traffic I was enging braking from flat out and my back wheel locked up at around 80 mph was some scary shit on a national speed limit road. Anyway I second the blips on throttle to lubricate the engine

adjust your sprocket sizes to gain more top end. for Highest torque you could go 60 tooth rear x 10 tooth front (6:00). but for top speed you could go as low of a ratio as 30 tooth rear x 16 tooth front (1:88). i wouldnt go to either extreme though. for top speed i would try 52 rear x 14 front. you dont want to completely rob peter to pay paul. you want to stay around 3:71 for optimal performance although you could vary it a little bit to gain a few mph or ft/lbs.

also a fatty shorty combo is a good cheap way to gain a bit. youre not going to break 90 without spending a bit of cash.

Judging by the go pro footage it looks like you weren’t hugging down and if you weren’t hugging down you probably weren’t tucking your legs in. Also you want to put your elbows parallel with your handlebars, believe it or not it makes a difference. 80 would’ve happened.

Ktm sx 65 goes 58 a 2 stroke 65 will beat a blaster and keep up well with crf 150f even will hang with a stock 80 . And a 2(0 2 stroke does above 89 stock like 84
