Honda Civic 2020 review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Is this the best small car? The Honda Civic is a popular compact car that rivals the Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen Golf. It's bigger than most, making it practical and spacious, but does it drive as athletically as it looks? With a 1.5-litre turbo under the bonnet, things look good on paper, but let's find out what the updated Civic is really like. In this video, a review of the 2020 Honda Civic RS, John drives this Honda sedan, looking into its dynamics, comfort, practicality and value for money.

Good review. Recently, before the current situation grounded me, I had a 1500km road trip in a 2020 Honda Civic in Thailand. This was a basic poorly optioned Hertz hire car. My first time in a Civic. For the 1st 700km I was joined by 3 adults and an 8 year old for a 6.5 hour blast out of Bangkok to Issan province. Those in the rear seat loved the comfort and space in car. As a driver I was very impressed with the performance and comfort also. Its an easy car to drive on all sorts of various rural roads and traffic jams in Bangkok. I really liked it. The looks are okay but it may not age well. As you mentioned, the build quality was not up to par with some of competition and the cheap scratchy plastics became a real annoyance after a couple of days. Would I buy one? Maybe.

great stuff as always, but I wouldn't be touching a Honda at all if there is the slightest chance that they're leaving. They've said they're not leaving but Holden said that as well. Would rather a Toyota or Kia any day of the week unless a time machine could transport back me to the 90s.

Yep. Tom here. In the nineties my parents owned a succession of Hondas - Integras, Civics, Accords, and loved them. I think some of that passion is still there but the brand and product needs to be rebuilt here in Australia. Japanese production would be a good start. I don’t think they’re going to leave Australia, but I do think they might go to an independent distributor arrangement, like Subaru. -TB

  • @chasingcars

To clarify, Honda is announcing its intentions soon. It won't be leaving Australia by the end of the month, which is way too soon a timeframe. In our view the much more likely outcome will be a downscaling of the dealer network while they consider whether to continue factory importing or switching to a distributor. But yes, I'd hold off until we hear more from management on their view of the market.

Great review. This car used to get decent reviews (from other sites) a couple of years ago. Has the game moved on or was the car a bit overrated at the time? On a test drive I thought it was OK but unremarkable. Cars like the i30 and the Astra were more fun to drive and the i30 was in a much higher class of quality. Honda continues to disappoint with their passenger cars. I'd sooner have an old Accord Euro than a new Civic.

This is what I wondered. I remember driving a hatchback version of the previous model and noticed some details that were way less than they were in my own Civic, which was the station and build in the US. The hatchback was build in the UK. After I did some checking, it turned out that the UK build cars were just simply worse. I wonder how this can be. Doesn't Honda design the production infrastructure to be of the same quality? Or maybe because of bad management/quality control in the factory the quality isn't on par? Stuff mentioned in the video like creaking plastics are not ok. Not sure what the car costs in Australia, but in my country (Netherlands) it's somewhere in the high 30K, low 40K (Euro's).
