After following the video I was able to successfully replace the timing belt, water pump, and valve cover seals/gasket. One thing the video does not show is removing the ABS module, although you don’t need to remove it to carry out the repairs, but it definitely opens up the space for easy access to the timing belt/water pump if removed.
I just did timing belt water pump valve cover gasket and all other gaskets tensioner as well first time thanks for making videos like this 2003 honda civic Es1 1.7 automatic from Australia
Very good video. Haynes manuals are very useful.
From 2006 up to the present civic doesn't have timing belt FYI

22:00 is the timing belt install.
Disconnects the battery, jumps in, turns ignition on and everything lights up?

and start the car to warm it up to drain the coolant system......
Thanks for the good ideas
Very useful
Mating surfaces. not pronounced correctly BUT otherwise...the narrator does a great job. It otherwise is a Really nice DIY.. take care and be extra careful with the spark plug tube seals in the valve cover. ( maybe take a few cellphone pictures..Have done quite a few timing belts on many cars.... must admit Haynes does a great job on certain cars...our library is full of them....mostly really old manuals.. Modern cars are not made to be worked on unless you have some tools and skills.
great video
Is it just me, or was that tensioner spring installed upside down @23:13??
Can you make a video of a 98 lexus gs 400 timing belt change
The tensioner spring is mounted upside down. It has the up mark on one side.
29:00 is there gasket particle wrong side of the engine
super

How was it ?
"Use a cheater to overload the inadequate ratchet or breaker bar, but don't hurt yourself!" 🤣
The 2011 Honda civic does not have a timing belt, it has a chain.
No need to completely remove the valve cover. Just raise it slightly enough to remove the top timing cover.

if you're doing a timing belt replacement, you might as well get the valve cover off and put a new gasket in there.

@@looking_33 there are no extra steps involved ( besides a few bolts.), and a valve cover gasket is like less than 20 bucks.

@@rampageblizzard I did the whole job without removing any of the accessories (alternator etc) or valve cover. just loosened the bolts until it raised a cm. most of this video is unnecessary waste of time. Took off the crank pulley and timing covers thats it

@@looking_33 well, if it works for you, good. I’d be unsatisfied if I did the job that way. lol. Hope the new belt serves you well though
Why did it start by removing the passenger side front wheel "remove appropriate wheel" yet all repairs were done on the driver's side
@jonathan3982

Belts and pulleys are on the passenger side man. Removing the passenger side wheel gives easier access to the pulleys.
Jesus, he completely disassembled the car just because of the belt...

@@agnosticmanquestionsall2409 they made this way harder for themselves. unnecessary
Valve cover gasket and O-rings: they don’t just “pop” out if the car is old. There should be a warning. You need to heat them up with a heat gun to work them out. If not you will make the mistake I did and tear them up and it will take many painstaking hours to get all the pieces stuck done in the ring.
this looks nothing like 2007 honda civic

You are correct! This is a 7th Gen Civic (2001-2005). Honda introduced the new body style in 2006.
Removed the wrong wheel in the video.
