Honda CBR650R Review & First Ride! | Honda Motorcycle News

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Let's review the Honda CBR650R! This newly reimagined middleweight supersport from Honda, the CBR650R boasts a smooth four-cylinder engine screaming out an exciting, and usable, 93bhp. With a buttery-seamless quick-shifter to help climb the gears and a host of rider-aids, I was pleasantly surprised by the ride quality of this bike. Especially when it costs less than £8,000!

    As a Rossi fan sure did hope for Yamaha to build similar bikes, but these CBRs just look too sweet to pass on. Unfortunately in the US they don’t offer the matt black/gray on the 650 so had to go for the CBR500R in this color. Looks amazing.

    Oddly enough “ at least for me” insurance considers this a full on supersport with insurance being incredibly expensive but the CB650r is considered to be a standard or regular sport because the insurance cost is only 1/3 of the cbr.

  • @johntheaccountant5594

    @johntheaccountant5594

    3 жыл бұрын

    @Will Taylor Makes sense to me. The insurance companies believe that somebody who buys the CBR is going to drive faster and take more risks than someone that buys the CB. Also with a fairing the CBR would cost more to repair. I also had the same scenario with a VW Golf GTI insurance costing much more than a VW New Beetle with the same engine costing a lot less in insurance.

    I had the old cbr 650F. I found it to be vibey on the highway. Switched to a CBR 600rr which was smooth as butter on the highway but of course was stolen after 10 months. Looking around again. Did you find the CBR650R less vibey than the 650F?

  • @EddieSetGo

    @EddieSetGo

    4 жыл бұрын

    I haven’t ridden the 650F buddy but the new bike wasn’t very vibey, just noticeable. Especially if you keep to the low revs and high gears on the highway, I don’t think you’d have trouble doing longer miles. 👍🏻

    Hi, is time for me to change my bike to CBR 650R or Triumph Street triple S 2020 (de-restricted). I’ve got experience of two years, on my CB125R,commuting and 4000 miles,no more. Which one of these two bikes you’ll recommend, using my bike most for commuting (my 1st choice is Triumph, I am wrong?). Thanks for a good review on this bike

    Just found this review as still deciding should I buy a Honda CBR650R or CB650R. Specification is basically the same except fairing and handle bars. I love the looks of the CBR (Firebalde look) but I am old now and not a racer so starting to think the CB makes more sense especially as I am an English expat living in tropical Thailand. What is the justification for buying this CBR except for looks over the CB for me?

  • @EddieSetGo

    @EddieSetGo

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey John. I'm in the same position as you. The CBR looks exciting, but to be fair, the CB650R looks nice, has that awesome headlamp, the riding position is more friendly. Also, the new 2021 edition of the CB650R is getting upgraded Showa 'big piston' front suspension forks, which are a huge upgrade for the bike. I'd wait for the 2021 edition before making a purchase! I certainly am!

  • @johntheaccountant5594

    @johntheaccountant5594

    @@EddieSetGo I think the CBR650R is also getting the Showa big piston front suspension forks so the decision still cannot be made though I am going more and more to the CB650R on a practicality basis; easier to service with no fairing to take off; more comfortable for pillion if I am in a more upright position. I cannot see myself riding at more than 120 kmph in reality on big roads and of course cheaper. "Chronicles of Mr Fish" you tuber seems to prefer the CB over the CBR.

    Possibly. The riding position is more 'leaned forward' than I thought it would be, so you'll be in a very aggressive riding position as well as managing a decent amount of power. For me personally, I'd go for something more upright like an Yamaha MT. More commanding riding position while you get used to riding and reading the road. Just my opinion though! There is a restricted version however in the UK for riders taking a progresive route to a full license.
