Honda CB700SC Oil Change 1984-1986

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I couldn't find a video on here detailing the steps of an oil change on a 1984-1986 Honda CB700SC Nighthawk, so I thought I would fix that. Don't listen to my quarts to liters conversion in the video... It's wrong haha. Hope you find this helpful! -Phil

Thanks man good stuff. You got one of the more rare Nighthawk color schemes.

Thank you! I figured that out after I tried to find a headlight and fairing assembly… mine is cracked and I can’t find one that I won’t have to paint…

Thank you for this video. I find it extremely weird oil comes out of those 12 mm bolts as well as the drain plug - would have never thought.

I found that very odd as well. Someone had removed the center stand off my bike, so I bought one on eBay and put it on! The next oil change will hopefully be a lot simpler!

@@phillipmasters i have a 84 cb750. Do you know if the 700 centre stand fits or is there more differences than just the CC?

@@christoplease I would imagine they are different, since your CB750 is chain drive and the later CB700 like mine is shaft drive. That said, I would suspect the center stand would be competing for cramped space on either bike, and is likely bespoke to each model.

@@phillipmasters it's a Canadian model and is shaft driven still. So I'm thinking of just the engine size is different from the 700 as the frame/tank/guages look the same

@@christoplease oh! Then it might work! I bought a center stand for mine off EBay for like $25 and it worked perfectly.

i recently bought the same bike, any tips for a replacement starter? Could I get away with a different bikes starter so i dont have to pay 250 for one lol. and how does the rear plastic mount up, could I mount it without the sissy bar?

  • @phillipmasters

My bike had the rear fender plastic and sissy bar / grab handle removed when I bought it. The plastic doesn’t have any mounting bolts of its own, and instead relies on the structure and bolts of that grab handle to hold it in place. As for your starter issue, I can’t say.

@@phillipmasters thank you, im building a cafe racer ish bike, still mostly stock but just a couple cafe style mods. I really liked the rear plastic but I really dont like the sissybar, ill find a way around that. rear plastic kinda reminds me of a dirtbike.

@@ukariah You could consider cutting the top part(grab handle) off of the sissy bar, and just leave the sides. I think that would do what you are looking for.

Put some aluminum foil over your exhaust next time to keep the oil off of it.
