Honda CB200X vs Xpulse 200 : We have a winner : PowerDrift

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Honda CB200X and the Hero Xpulse 200 may seem like different motorcycles and there's some truth to that. The CB200X is an upgraded commuter with upmarket bodywork, while the XPulse 200 is a beginner off-roading motorcycle that will open the door to a completely different world, quite literally. That said, both the motorcycles can handle the daily grind equally well. So which one should you pick? Shumi and Varun discuss over a glass of coffee.

TVS makes the best off road bike in India period! TVS XL. On any given day, TVS XL bikes covers more off road distances than all other adventure bikes combined. An average TVS XL rider does more river crossing or dirt road riding in one month than riders on xPulse or Himalayan. Everytime I go on dirt road in villages on my KTM and struggle on the narrow pathways, the local villagers look at me as a city fool who doesn't know how to ride! To rub salt on my wound, they demonstrate the ease in which they ride on a TVS XL

I'd pick the Xpulse 200 for the fact that it is a capable off-roader which can do decent if not amazing on-roading. Honda CB200x is striked off the list because: a. It is just pretentious about being an ADV b. No where near as rugged as the Xpulse c. Way too overpriced d. Does not have a kick starter ( important for me).

Himalayan is an awesome bike on highways but the mileage and puncture anxiety is too stressful to handle.

What more can you expect from a company that focuses on selling more and more Activas every month and not think of bringing something like the cbr 150r which can easily take on the likes of the R15. Honda treats India as a scooter market only and tries to lure customers with these gimmicky products, while gems like the Xpulse (like the impulse) go unnoticed on the roads.

The Hero Xpulse 200 it is. As Shumi quipped, its an honest bike with the best intentions of what is claims to do. Those extra few CCs and BhPs help. Also, one thing that Shumi and Varun failed to highlight (in depth) is the Ground clearance, the Honda CB200X has a ground clearance lower than my Bajaj Avenger 220 Street!! How about a bike that looks like an ADV but has a ground clearance of a low slung cruiser? On the other side of the spectrum you have the Xpulse which has SUV like GC! Also, some people on this forum are saying they like the looks (with the semi fairing et all) of the CB200X, well there is a reason why a semi-dirt bike doesnt have a fairing and bolt ons, coz these bikes are meant to take a fall or two and those fairings are gonna get loose or crack the moment the bike is on its sides. Apart from the Himalayan, currently, there is no other bike which looks the way the XPulse does. It doesnt wear a Tuxedo coz its not going to a meeting, it wears the gear of a mountain climber coz thats what it is. P.S. I dont own an Xpulse but probably will do once the 4 Valve launches and settles in.

A year ago, I bought the BS6 Xpulse after a long hard look at the Hornet 200 and frankly I didn't know that the 200X is coming. When the 200X came out looking so fabulous, I had begun to doubt my choice. But after your insights, I am glad to say that there is nothing I missed out on and I wouldn't have changed my decision even today. As a Xpulse 200 rider I know there are some sore points... The headlight could be better for one. And it isn't great for the pillion... Pillions can go for short distances only without complaint and the rear part of the seat is granite hard. So value for money Xpulse is great. The only alternative is the Himalayan which is much more expensive and very very heavy which was a put off for me. Also the Apache is great, but I chose to trade Horsepower and sharp handling for suspension travel. And it was a good trade off. On the Xpulse I literally had have the confidence to put it through some nasty potholes just to feel it just filter them out totally.

Was around the same spot back in March. And I was in for a commuter but not the buck standard ones(not an uncle bike). My primary requirement also was traditional looking bike so I considered the Java, the Honda cb350 even I didn't even have the Xpulse in my mind. But I saw one and took a test drive. When I saw it's price and what it offers, I booked immediately. And I'm not regretting it one bit, commuting thru the Mumbai Thane roads is a breeze on this bike. Wanna climb up on a dividers and back to avoid traffic (we all do it 😁) it's damn easy on this. Economy is good enough too. If you are 5'10+ this is such an easy bike to ride and live with this is actually a great commuter++ bike.

PowerDrift, I really enjoy your content even though I don't live in India but nearby in Vietnam. I would choose the Hero Xpulse 200 hands down! The bike can have more functions (city, touring, adv, dirt) and has an upgrade path with the Rally Kit! I own a Honda CRF150L here in Vietnam and it does multiple roles. Hopefully, Xpulse w/Rally Kits will be available for rentals in India.

I sat on the cb200x and the plastics/Fibre panels only made me think about how hard it would be to source those parts once honda drops this bike from its list or the bike gets too old in the market.. I own a cb dazzler which nobody remembers, but its a special bike to me. Bikes made of metal are needed not these cost cutting panels

On my XPulse on the rear I have a little wobbling as what Impulse had, but far better. Not sure if others feel this too. I got the XPulse. Also, I have booked a CB 200. Have to pay another 50+ take to take the bike. Left taking delivery and thinking of taking it in Jan2022, so the model is 22. After watching the video thinking if I did a wrong choice on the CB. Also, on BikeWale saw that Yamaha is shortly launching WR155 off-road dirt bike. So a bit mentally messed up. Can you guys throw some light on this?

I am 5'3" 62kg guy owner of an Xpulse 200 BS6 2020 model. The seats are too small even for me. They are next to worthless for highways, if you are choosing this seat over Honda, man it sounded too painful for Honda. I did Spiti Road Trip in July 21, 1900km 10days, the seats started to give me pain from 100km onwards. I am thinking of installing Gel Seats. Please suggest. Cornering was great, even with handle bar risers. It was cornering better than Dominar 400 & Himalayan (Might be because of exp. of riders). Overall I am happy. Just need a seat upgrade, suggest me the best. Thanks & Regards, Arghya Maity

I feel the only question that comes to my mind is how much easy is The Xpulse on the basis of service network of Hero and maintanence cost of Xpulse. The Honda has an advantage over these points. Otherwise the Xpulse seems a better bike if these two points are improved.

Honda has such a massive inventory of bikes in its reserve - it could have easily brought in a genuine entry level ADV into India. But why didn’t it do that? Because Honda still believes we Indians are foolish to simple lap up a rebadged Hornet at a whopping 30k extra. Simply for this reason we should simple stay away from this dishonest bike

Xpulse is definitely the best bike for our country. Reasons :- 1. It is an off-roader...like mentioned in this video ...it's not an adventure tourer...it's not a bike that pretends to be an off-roader...it is a hardcore off-roader.. and since most of the roads in our country are off-road tracks ...yeah this fits.. 2. Fuel economy...along with comfort and ride quality Xpulse provides pretty decent mileage too...which is a big factor considering the daily doubling fuel prices. 3. Care free....it's a Hero product...it's affordable to own and to maintain 4. Fun..... When you are off-road what matters is the power-to-weight ratio....more weight = less handling ability...less power = hard to tackle obstacles....in that sense ...Xpulse is perfect....the weight is manageable...and also there is enough power....so when you are off-road all you feel is fun and excitement ...not the fear of falling over and being stuck on somewhere I'm a proud owner of Xpulse (first variant...2019 BS4 Carb version). I learned to ride a bike on this (my first bike). And everyone who cares for me was skeptical about me looking forward to own a "gigantic" bike as a beginner...but it was perfect...it was the perfect one for me ... So if you are looking for a fun, comfortable, easy to go with bike ...then Xpulse is the choice
